3rd Day of NOLA Visit Blog - Monday, 11/9/09
The Meanie and I began our day by making waffles inside the La Quinta Inn & Suite's cafe. After breakfast, we met up with Izzy, Silver, Shi and MM17 and walked over to the French Market. After the French Market visit, we met up with more of the Wiki Wakkers to begin our walking tour of the French Quarter. We took pictures and walked by many of the haunted mansions, most notably the LaLaurie Mansion on Royal Street (formerly owned by Nicolas Cage), which creeped the hell out of both the Meanie and I. Izzy told us about its history and I just moved onto the next location...quickly. What was it Lafayette mentioned in Season 1? "Bad juju"...yup, you felt it for sure.

After our tour of the French Quarter, we headed over to Cafe Beignet to meet up with EB_, SookieVsBella and SVB's mom to have our Sookieverse Book 9 discussion. It was great meeting the 3 of them and we talked about Book 9 and all things ERIC NORTHMAN! Cafe Beignet closed early so we all moved across the street to the DESIRE Oyster Bar to continue the discussion and snack on more desserts.

Several of us returned to our hotels to freshen up and then we met up over at Harrah's Casino. The Meanie and I played the slot machines....I didn't make any profit, but the Meanie was ahead $22 so he cashed the $ in and left it at that. After eating at Fuddrucker's, several of us made our way over to the St. Louis Cathedral to begin the long-awaited Vampire Tour. Due to the weather, some peeps decided not to go on the tour and instead wait until Meads arrived on Wednesday to do so.

Those of us who went on the tour had a wonderful experience and we're very happy "Loving True Blood in Dallas" recommended Jonathan to us as our guide. The Meanie and I headed back to our hotel (creepy at night) and tried to get a good night's sleep.

What would your question be? I'm just curious to see what everyone comes up with ^_^

Mine (as of today) would be:
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

If a human gets bit by a full were (be it Werewolf, Werepanther, etc...) and becomes sort of a hybrid of whatever the biter's shift is, what would happen if a human gets bit by a full-blooded shapeshifter, like Sam?

Sometime in the next few weeks (date TBA), the True Blood Wiki and all Wetpaint sites will be changing from dynamic page resizing to using a standard 1024 pixel fixed width.

How will this affect you? You’ll be seeing all the pages on the Wiki transformed to a narrower format – but YOU and ONLY YOU can adjust your profile to this new format.

How will you know if your profile fits the 1024 width? The Dexter wiki has already converted to a fixed width format.

Go to: http://dexterwiki.sho.com/

Adjust your browser window size so that no gray borders show on either the left or right sides. Now go back to your True Blood Wiki profile. Edit your profile - reducing pictures, tables, formatting, etc. – to fit this size without a scroll bar on the bottom. The area of your profile should be approximately 564 pixels in width (not including the left ‘menu’ column or the right ‘friends’ column.

In the short term, this adjustment may be a pain in the arse, but with patience we’ll all work through it together.

"Yes, actually, a big one - the fact that vampires are not supposed to be visible in mirrors. That isn't true of modern mirrors, because they are no longer backed with silver. In the show, Bill says they created that myth as a way to cover themselves, and that's in direct conflict to standard lore. A silver-backed mirror is rare these days, and they are the ones that won't reflect a vampire. The idea that they can't be photographed also has to do with silver nitrate film. Digital photography would work just fine.

Bill talks about magick a little too much for my taste. I think maybe his character doesn't know the answer to a lot of Sookie's questions, so he uses the word magick as if there is no basis in nature for what they are. There is no such thing as unnatural or supernatural. Everything is a part of nature. Even magick - real magick - follows the physical laws of quantum mechanics. Just because it doesn't fit linear logic or Newtonian physics that doesn't mean there isn't logic to it. It just takes a broader understanding of how Nature works.

I'm a bit worried about the direction they might take where Witches are concerned. I didn't like the Gaia talk coming from Amy when she was so unable to empathize with the vampires. If you are aware that the planet is alive and conscious, you should be able to empathize with a sentient humanoid creature who feels pain and has his own will. Gaia consciousness is one of the most important concepts in our culture right now - our survival might depend on people understanding that our Mother Earth is a living, conscious, interactive being. I don't like seeing that reduced to a cliche about hippies. "

Eric must atone! I have not read the books and after reading the threads think I would stay with loosely basing storylines from books. When I tell friends about the show and they haven't read the books either, they have tuned in to season 2 and I fear I lost potential fans (Plus they think I am a freak). Mostly what I would hear back is MaryAnn storyline was raunch/gauche. While I agree that storyline was not my fav (last two episodes of season 2 you almost lost me) I tell them to go back to beginning (unfortunately it is no longer on HBO and doubtful they will purchase). As to Eric. With total disregard to Bill/Sookie's relationship and his deceitful methods in pursuing the objective of his affection there should be a more painful price to pay when he realizes who he really wants. Enter the Dark Angel-lethal with a dagger, matches his intelligence, witty, vulnerable-soft spoken, capable of deep passionate love but unavailable to Eric because he has been bad. (She is slender, large breasts, long black hair, violet eyes and black (or purple) wings). Cast from heaven to search for and slay vampires who kill humans for food, her mission is to bring justice to those vampires who will not change. Condensed version of storyline, Eric see's her, rescues her (oh-she is in a desparate sitation), wants her but at 1,000+ years old must go through some painful personal growth-including gaining Bill's forgiveness to even begin to measure up to anything in her eyes. Add suspense to their budding difficult romance because she is coming up on her only fertile time in life and her chosen was slain by a vampire in Eric's territory.
Jason Stackhouse would be an even greater terror if he were a newbie vampire and set his sights on the preacher's wife!
Be cool if Sookie could somehow get pregnant with Bill's baby.

Almost anything you can think of is already being discussed somewhere on the wiki, so please use the SEARCH function at the top right to find the conversation you want to join. Duplicate threads will be deleted without notice.

Multiple threads, which contain a number after the name, are only created for the most popular topics and new ones are only created when the threads exceed 220 pages, which is well over 4,000 posts. Ask a moderator to start those when a thread reaches that size. Thanks!
