1. RE: My personal rant to Alan Ball

Your opinion is your opinion. I am a huge fan of the books but I am also huge fan of the Show. I feel they are the same in skeleton but different. The books are extremely enjoyable and I am glad that there are a handful that will still come out. I will still read them. However, The twist on the show is simply to make you wanting to come back. If AB wanted to make a movie of the books he could have made a "movie" depicting the books from front to back. But this is a series and I believe what he said is that he was going to take for the most part what Ms. Harris had in mind and change it up. I enjoy the change and find it refreshing. Why do you complain? Just don't watch the show. There are plenty of True Blood fans that are fans simply without having read the book. Than there are the fans (like myself) that enjoy both. I love the fact that I have to use my imagination to wonder what is going to happen and see the story unfold episode after episode. Than there are the fans that are die hard book fans and think the series should depict the book line by line. What fun is that? As a producer he had a right to choose what and how he wanted to re-inact the series. If you choose to stay and watch great. We'll enjoy great discussion and / or debates. However, if you choose to be close minded and not watch the show. there are plenty more fans that will keep the show going. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Look I have read the first 7 books, YES it is TOTALLY different than the show. But Bill RULES!! Obviously you are attracted to Eric and the books favor Eric and Sookie. But, Charlaine Harris dropped the ball in her books, by making Bill's role and ; importance so minimal. Like the other Fan said, if you don't like Bill or the story, don't watch it. I hated the whole Maryanne thing, thought it was dragged on too long and Jason joining the Sun was a stretch. I always Hated Vampire Movies, til Bill showed me the Blood...LOLDo you find this valuable? |

Just as another book to "movie" Lord of the Rings held true to the books and was a huge success. As for being closed minded... I may be. I do feel that I wanted my voice heard. After much thought, I removed the majority of my "rant" in favor of a brief statement. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

No hard feelings. I can understand. Believe me that I can understand because like any book that I have read the movie never held a candle to it. ie: Nights in Rodanthe, Message in a bottle, The Notebook, Marley and Me, My sister's keeper.. . .Those are just a few that i feel just as strongly as you. Books are so much more descriptive and have so much more vested in them that I think it's hard to capture the true essence of it on film. Charlaine Harris painted such a wonderful and imaginative story for us and I think Alan is just using her characters to create his version of how the story should have gone. I hope you have a great day. Enjoy reading & watching TB 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
