"I have to say I have not read any of the books from both series but I have watched Twilight and True Blood. First There are no vamps in Twilight talk about a joke. I watched it thinking OK WTF is this crap no Fangs!!!!!! OK first lets talk about the venomous bite....snakes have fangs to penetrate the skin of animals or any prey then inject venom. Hello you need fangs to do this! True Blood is the best vamp story I have seen besides the one and only Bram Stokers Dracula and interview with a vampire. I love the sexiness and raw feeling of True Blood oh and lets not forget the romance. Also who cares if you can sparkle but can you throw a chick down and make love to her like Bill can not just stare at her like you want to cry. True Blood wins hands down!

Lend me your thoughts on these two fighting head to head:

Dr. Cullen versus Bubba.
Difficulty: Dr. Cullen is moonlighting at a veterinary school, just in case more unknowns happen in Renesmee's future.

I've only read the first 2 Twilight books, and they were...good...not great. Stephanie Meyer has some pretty imagery and I probably would have been crazy about books & film as a teenager, but for me they just don't translate. Although bottom line is that I think the Sookie novels and TB are light years ahead of Twilight, so I can't help but compare. And Twilight loses every time. The movie was beautifully filmed, though (only seen the first one, but want to see the 2nd for the shots of Italy).

I guess I see Twilight as having a lot to recommend it, but it's "True Blood Light" at best. The phenomenal cast, writing, dialog, humor, sex, gore, wit, and social commentary of TB just put it on a whole different level.

And Edward is handsome and appealing, but who would look twice at him with Bill or Eric in the room?

I think Dr. Cullen would take the win in a, what do they call it, "technical knock out"? Isn't that where a fighter did alot of damage but didn't knock the other guy's lights out?

The reason I think it would be a TKO is that I can't imagine Dr Cullen having the heart to kill Bubba. He'd want to win, but not to kill sweet Bubs.

Congratulations of this thread, you have some insightful postings! The True Blood vamps are definitely the winners, hands down! They are 'meatier', older and wiser, much more sexy, and substantial, as is the show. It's no question that their impact will be eternally longer lasting. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

True Blood would definitely win in an out and out fight. Everything that I wanted to happen in Twilight happens in True Blood and so much more. I have read both series and watched the movie/episodes, so I know what I'm talking about. We do have to consider that Twilight is mainly for teens and pre-teens and True Blood is mainly for those older. As for the vamps, again, the True Blood vampires make the Cullens look like beginners... TRUE BLOOD KICKS MAJOR ASS and ROCKS MY WORLD!!! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm sorry... I still say Twilight would kick ass... It seems as though people are not taking into account the Twilight Vamps *EXTRA* Abilities... Abilities that would lay out any of the TB vamps without even having to touch them...

For example, Jane of the Volturi vs. ANY of the vamps from True Blood. She just has to LOOK at them and they would be on the ground writhing in pain... and then one of the other Twilight vamps would just have to shove a wooden stake in their chest, or shoot them with Silver Bullets, or cut off their head... expose them to sunlight...

Kate of the Denali Clan vs. ANY of the TB vamps... She can produce a strong electric current over her body, so if anybody touches her, they are shocked and incapacitated as if they had been Tasered.

There are more vampires in Twilight than *just* the Cullens, and not all of them are 'vegitarian' such as the Volturi. And there are other vampires in Twilight with other defensive/offensive abilities that would lay out ANY of the TB vamps without even having to TOUCH them...

Hmmmmm....wow.......interesting topic....
It's a tough one, because I like both stories and both versions of vampires......On one hand, I understand what everyone is saying about the Volturi, but if there was a fight and the right Volturi were there...they would possibly talk about it.... :)
*Wouldn't that be an interesting discussion....the Volturi, who are trying to keep "the secret", and the TrueBlood vamps, who went mainstream.......lol*
As far as the Cullens....well, I think it would be a long drawn out fight.....but if both, for want of a better word, vamp clans were really going to battle, I think Carlisle would try to stop it..........I don't think the Cullens would fight unfair and use the daylight as their chance to stake these guys......I mean we're talking about a general fight...not about someone trying to kill another....so now we're avenging.....lol....right?
I'm going off of a Cullens vs. True Blood deal here....lol
*shrugs* I don't know......if I had to pick one, based on which version of vamps is better and would win over-all, I would put all my bets on the True Blood vamps.......I mean, come on...Eric would just look at the Cullens and laugh.......
The Cullens have abilities, yes......but True Blood vamps have a LOT of willpower and force...I mean, they are basically the "I am Vampire"...here me roar type.........they wouldn't put up with stupid bullshit and they would just do what they had to do and get it done.........
Now if it was just say Edward against Eric or Bill.....Edward would be toast......lol...........I remember after watching the first few episodes of True Blood......I looked at me sister and basically said that Bill makes Edward look a little sniveling child....lol.......
But I love both types of vamps when it comes down to it.....they are both good stories....and I don't think Carlisle would let it come down to a fight.......

I haven't seen Twilight but I've sure read and heard enough about it to make a judgement: True Bloods vampires would definitely kick their asses.

That said, I'm so sick and tired of reading so much bashing of Stephen for daring to "bash" poor R. Pattinson. All the Edward lovers are bashing STEPHEN for a comment he made about the CHARACTER of Edward but they still insist that he's bashing little Rob. Besides the fact that Stephen was 100% RIGHT in his comment, he was making a joke about the rivalry and it puzzles me that the articles headlines make it sound as if he's talking about the actor instead of the character.....but yet they are making the comparison of the VAMPIRES, the actual CHARACTERS the actors portray!!! DUH!! "True Blood vs. Twilight" is NOT "Stephen Moyer vs. Robert Pattinson", but "Bill Compton vs. Edward Whatever". And in THAT matchup.........BILL COMPTON wins in EVERY category!!
Just my not-so-unbiased-opinion. :-)

Twilight and True Blood are different in so many ways that it's hard to compare them. For one thing, Twilight is made for a young adult audience, so it's made to be much more tame than the Sookie Stackhouse series. There is a lack of sex, drugs, and violence due to the audience. The vampires in Twilight have true emotion and they love Bella. The vampires in Charlaine Harris's novels are not all capable of truly feeling human emotion. Very few vampires actually seem to have human emotions like love and fear. Bella is a victim of circumstance, of her own clumsiness, and the target of all the bad guys. She is a weak character who cannot seem to survive as a human. She is domestic and obedient. She isn't a very strong character (until the change, but that's another matter). Sookie and the other women in the Charlaine Harris series are strong, opinionated, and they're fighters. They're tough. Bella is fragile. Different stories for a different audience. Which is better? I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse series over the show, but the show has its own meritt. I don't like where Bill and Eric are going. These are not the men Sookie would have gone for, and she's been made weaker in the television series. One of the things I love about her is her fighting spirit. She doesn't take guff from anyone. Still, she's a lot stronger than Bella Swan. While I believe that both stories have their own niche, I personally prefer True Blood, but with teenagers in the house, I know I can watch Twilight with them! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. "True Blood of course. Twilight is for babies. Don't get me wrong I liked the books and the movie was ok but us grown ups need some real men and women and a little sex in our books/shows. Even Moonlight (I liked that show) was more adult than Twilight."
i tottaly would have to say True Blood all the way baby for one how dare they as in twlight even consider themselves vampires or even a vampire movie it tottaly SUCKED all the way as for TRUE BLOOD it's the best and yes there right even Moonlight was a good program they never should have taken it off the air. They need more Vampire shows on t.v...

Twilight is True Blood for teens. Come on - cute vampy boy & human girl get the hots for eachother (she's not afraid of him despite knowing what he is, even gets her prepubescent hormones flowing a bit) sounds like a very familiar story line. A little TOO familiar!
Simply put: REAL VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE!
Therefore, hands down True Blood would whoop the sparkles out of the Twilight teeny-bopper vampies. Nuff' said.

Sidenote: I do not begrudge a younger audience from vampire lore or their Twiilight books/movie, etc. However, the ridiculous uproar over the comment Stephen (Moyer) made about Edward (the Twilight character), just prooves my statement. It shows the age/thought process of the audience for Twilight. Adults would have taken the comment as it was meant - made in reference to the character Edward (Cullen?), NOT the actor himself. Whereas teenagers read the comment & immediately took it as a personal attack against their beloved Robbie (whatever). Nothing like teenage-angst!
