"have you been reading the same books, remember he is the guy Sookie read his mind was like plunging into a pit full of poinous snakes., she is still afraid of him even in the 9th book.."I do agree with you, in that Eric seemed like a very high-profile, dangerous vampire in the books. But I guess we never got to see him act out, like he did in the show. However, now that I think about it... I am recalling one scene in the third book when there are a bunch of men in Sookie's house and Bill and Eric kill them all... so maybe my image of Eric is tainted by Harris' fantastic wording when describing how sexy Eric is, lol. I think that what AB has done with Eric's character is awesome! Alex Skarsgard is perfect for the role and they really couldnt have found anyone better. I'm just glad that they are finally showing his darker side. And he's not evil......or a villian.....he's a VAMPIRE. They can't all be lame, spakely virgins, who only eat animals. (Sorry Edward Cullen). Most vampires kill people. So what. All he's doing now his hunting down humans who are commiting crimes against vamps.....and since their population seems numbered.....he's doing it too prove that people cant kill vampires and get away with it. He's a sherif and it's his job to secure his area. On a lighter note: Seeing Eric come down the stairs in a smock and foils made may day! Soooooo not what i was expecting. It was so hillarious!!! And I'm really glad that Jessica is being more developed and beining to be less annoying. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

The worst of the cast is Anna imo, she just isnt believable and her acting is below par. I think everyone else on the show is better than her. Is the actor who is playing Chow on the show not Asian? I apologize that I couldnt tell, I thought he looked Eurasian to me. Plus I must say that I like that we have an American Indian and then a Chinese vampire in Harris' books. Vampires in other series are alwasy freakin European. I am also happy that they didnt give Eric that gawd awful Fabio hair! Hair to his shoulders is great and as for the hair cut, I can only say that not changing your hair works in a book but it doesnt work in a tv show. PS No hating on the sparkly virgin! 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I just read LDID for the first time last night and I have to agree and disagree on points.Agreed In addition They've got to find a way to get Lafayette back in the bar. Him and Tara together are just too much. I can also see Lafayette being the one drooling all over Eric instead of Eggs. I'm glad that they didn't have a 60 year old Terry on the set. Last season I hated Jessica but ,she's growing on me this season. Do you find this valuable? |

Who else has listened to the series on audiobooks? I have all of the books & ya, I read them first- but I usually listen to them on audio the 2nd time around. I like the narrator "Johanna Parker", nice voice & emphasizes appropriately. I have heard samples of books on audio that I know I wouldn't be able to sit through b/c of the voice of the narrator. These are good though- incase anyone is interested.audible.com Do you find this valuable? |

He's a sherif and it's his job to secure his area.I couldn't agree more with this assessment of Eric. You described it perfectly. But even those of us who happen to also like Twilight have to that Eric is not a sparkly virgin vegetarian. And I do love Edward just in case anyone thinks I'm hating. Comparing the two vampire series is like apples and oranges. Eric was just taking care of business and who wouldn't fight back after having a silver cross shoved into their eye. This whole scene is just to prove that no matter how human some of these vamps seem sometimes they are very dangerous. Eric was attacked and he fought back. On another note I would love to see Terry and Arlene get together. I also find Jason and his dilemna the least interesting part of the show-even though The Fellowship plays a big part in all of the books pretty much. Ryan Kwanten plays Jason so well but I duinnoh-maybe because we've all known guys like that in real life that it's run of the mill whereas all the oher characters have something out of the ordinary. Hi all, was asked by a mod to post this here.. hope you enjoy xoxoDear True Blood 2nd Season on HBO, Hello Lover. Oh I have missed you while you were away! I am really excited that you are once again seeing me every Sunday night. I was really lonely without you. Can I just say, OH HOT DAMN! Wow, you really tease me. It's like you want me to be obsessed with vampire love. The semi-full frontal, steamy shots are almost too much for me to handle! At first I was quite confused with the direction you are taking. I mean, hardly anything in the HBO series can be found in the book series. I was like, OH WAIT, hold up.. Eric did NOT do that! Sookie isn't THAT needy! Jessica? Jessica WHO? WTF!!!! But I soon realized that I love the TV series as much as the book series but in a different kinda way. And you do give me so much to love! ***SQUEAL*** (I have even lusted after Bill Compton.. just amazing work there) Although.. I do have one thing that I feel like needs to be addressed. Eric getting foil highlights????? OMFG! Are you serious? Eric is a blonde, sexy, extremely tall and delicious Viking vampire! I doubt the REAL Eric NEEDS foil highlights. But ok, whatever. I will over look this little mess up and just have to agree to disagree this once. So anyways, Thank you. Thank you True Blood 2nd Season for giving me another thing to obsess and lust after! Please don't let me down. I am counting on you and I will be waiting for you tonight. Love you forever and always, Rebecca P.S. Back to the almost full frontal shots... Can we PLEASEEE get some of Eric? Or even Bill. Seriously I only want to see Sookie's perky little boobies on occasion. How about a Mr. January shot? Pretty, pretty please with me on top???? hehe ***Squeal**** xoxo 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Oh there is nothing wrong with the spakley virgin. He's lovely in his own tween sort of way.I do agree that "Fabio" hair is SO not the look for Eric or a look I (or many women) would be attracted to (it's very dated 1980's hair), and the shoulder length straight blonde wig fit the character, and the actor--besides didn't Alex recently play a soldier in Iraq (Generation Kill on HBO), where his hair would have had to be cut very short?... Maybe, he did not have time between shows to grow it out as long as it needed to be to play Eric. I think Alex has done an excellent job, exuding the arrogance and allure that are the essence of Eric... Do you find this valuable? |

I would think with the highlights, they would only last a day, because that is the way the vampire world works. Bill says in one of the books that he was glad he was clean shaven, otherwise he would always have a beard, moustache, whatever (my words).

Yep, rantings of a book snob is a good title. I agree that normally books are better than their film or TV versions, but True Blood is a remarkable exception to that rule. Charlaine's universe is great, she is very creative, but, let's face it, she is not that good a writer. Ball makes a MUCH better job with her ideas than she did herself. It is not that I don't like the books, I just think TB is way better than them. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'm so glad that this thread is taking off and that everyone feels the need to vent like me. Without further ado Episode 2! 1) LMAO Episode: I don't know if I was giddy from all the Eric scenes or someone slipped me something but I was laughing the entire episode. Eric "Is there blood in my hair?" "Pam is going to kill me." SO true to both Pam and Eric's characters in the book. Also when Bill and Eric where in Forever 21 (get it FOREVER ha!) and the worker thought they were "together" ha I flashed back to some pretty scarring fanfiction. 2)Eric: Oh Eric how I adore thee. Not only was he funny but he got to be a bad*** as well. How throws limbs around honestly? lol I am digging the new look though even though it goes against his character in the books I think but they worked it into the plot niccely. 3) Pam: I loved her in this episode as I do in all the episodes she was in. I def believe Mr. Ball has her correct. 4) Chow: I think someone else has brought it up but, Chow, sweetie, you are not the hunky tattoo guy we were thinking. Does HBO only let you have a certain quota of hot hunks per show? 5) Jessica: Poor sweet Jessica. I feel for her but she is pretty stupid but like Sookie tried to explain to poor Bill she is a teenager. 6) Layfeaytte: Well, on the bright side, if they turn him into a vampire he will still technically be dead right? 7) Jason: I feel he plays the poor directionless insecure boy his character should be to a tee. Scream at my TV moment: When Tara was like yeah I think this is all to good to be true? DUH! was what I responded to that. I guess Sookie getting mauled is prob going to be with Mary-Ann not wanting Tara to move out instead of Eric's tribute stuff in the book. Yet another Eric part bites the dust. Well that was my take what did ya'll think! Do you find this valuable? |

I still dont even bother to watch Jason when he is on screen. Its funny because I heard the actor actually talk in his real accent and i found him much more attractive than on the show. He is just so disgusting on the show and I dont know why. I have always had a hatred for vampires throwing their weight around like they are the biggest baddest things on the planet, it just annoys and irritates me. So poor Lafayette in his situation and what they were doing to him annoyed me. But if he becomes a vampire I very well may stop watching, although I thought the actor confirmed it wouldnt happen. I still love me some Jessica and who the heck told her sister that she wasnt beautiful? Do you find this valuable? |

is stan even going to be in the show? what a pity...i was looking forward to seeing how he'd be potrayed! =[ yea...they made jason jacka$$ to the max on the show. ryan's a good actor.wow am i the only one who's not digging eric's tracksuits? i wanna see him in his teeshirt and jeans combo like they always described in the books...as for alex...i always feel like he can step it up a notch in terms of being eric..like put it all out there,be more aloof, ambitious, ferocious, flamboyant &sexy! not as up tight and let it all loose. woohoo! Hmm..Sookie is more 'sweet' (?) and needier than the tough stubborn book sook. the more i watch t.v sookie the more i see how different she is compared to book sookie. if only both sookie's could be combined...and then that would make the perfect sookie =D Jessica's sister is so cute! I wonder if she'll be turned into a vamp...she'd make a cute lil vampire =p Do you find this valuable? |

I have to agree with you on Eric. He is not a villain. He's sexy, and he has a quirky sense of humor. The getting highlights was a little over the top. Sookie and Eric have a much more interesting relationship in the books. He always comes through for Sookie (the paved driveway, the new coat, the $50,000, blood for strength, etc.) without making her feel like a dependent person. Sookie said,"That's what I like about Eric, he "gets" me. I'd really like to see an episode on Eric with memory loss at Sookies house. Bill has not always been comletely honest with Sookie. I became less and less attracted to the Bill's character until the 9th book. Do you find this valuable? |
