AB is loosely basing the show on the books. He takes certain things from the books. The show betrays Bill as a better Vamp. I only read book two fully, I only have read the first chapter of the other books and hear what people have talked about.. I hope that AB keeps the show as is and doesn't refer to much to the books, don't get me wrong the books are good on there own but I love the show better. Thanks AB! Do you find this valuable?

"You must not read the books. Bill is portrayed quite differently. He's sneaky and lies to Sookie about the entire basis of their relationship. If AB keeps them together it will ruin the show and really upset the hard core book fans."
The books are what made me a fan of the show. As the season went on this year the book characters were completely lost. There is nothing the same except for the names. This has caused me to lose a lot of interest in the show. Too many character lines are being given to other characters and horrible sub-plots used that could have been used to keep True Blood what it was meant to be...a story about vampires and their struggles to mainstream amoung humans. Mr. Ball....will you please lean more toward the storylines in the books? Thet don't have to be the same but please bring the show back to the vampires.

I have a totally random and crazy question for Alan Ball:
Lost is one of my most favorite shows on TV (along with True Blood!) any chance of getting the immensely talented Michael Emerson on True Blood???

I agree, let us get back to the books and the main point... Sookie's development into a strong, independent woman. The books are about her journey to find herself. In season three will we see a closer tie to the books? I hope so!

And finally, when you sit down with pen to write season three.. Remember, the books were hot for a reason.. they have a die hard following for a reason. Do you find this valuable?

68. A possible suggestion for Jessica's character

Howdy. Forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong area. Just have a thought regarding Jessica's predicament as a permanent virgin. Since this is all fantasy, couldn't there be a doctor specializing in vampire problems - a vampirologist let us say. There is actually a medical procedure called a hymenectomy to help with a tough situation. Couldn't a tincture of silver be applied to the area to keep it from contiuously healing over? I'm an adult woman and am taking an adult perspective to this. It's not a fun situation, pretend character or not. Just giving you my two centes. Love the show even if it strays fron the books. Thanks for reading this. - Karen Do you find this valuable?

Hello Alan Ball:

You rock! Love the show!
I thought it was so intelligent and crafty to go back to season one when Tara had the exorcizm and bring it forward all the way to the [almost] last season two episode. Are you planning to tie anymore loose ends/plotlines that way? I also noticed Mac Rattray made an appearance in a Sookie flashback in the Finale, so I assume that that is going somewhere Season Three...

Many thanks!
GG

Eric must atone! I have not read the books and after reading the threads think I would stay with loosely basing storylines from books. When I tell friends about the show and they haven't read the books either, they have tuned in to season 2 and I fear I lost potential fans (Plus they think I am a freak). Mostly what I would hear back is MaryAnn storyline was raunch/gauche. While I agree that storyline was not my fav (last two episodes of season 2 you almost lost me) I tell them to go back to beginning (unfortunately it is no longer on HBO and doubtful they will purchase). As to Eric. With total disregard to Bill/Sookie's relationship and his deceitful methods in pursuing the objective of his affection there should be a more painful price to pay when he realizes who he really wants. Enter the Dark Angel-lethal with a dagger, matches his intelligence, witty, vulnerable-soft spoken, capable of deep passionate love but unavailable to Eric because he has been bad. (She is slender, large breasts, long black hair, violet eyes and black (or purple) wings). Cast from heaven to search for and slay vampires who kill humans for food, her mission is to bring justice to those vampires who will not change. Condensed version of storyline, Eric see's her, rescues her (oh-she is in a desparate sitation), wants her but at 1,000+ years old must go through some painful personal growth-including gaining Bill's forgiveness to even begin to measure up to anything in her eyes. Add suspense to their budding difficult romance because she is coming up on her only fertile time in life and her chosen was slain by a vampire in Eric's territory.
Jason Stackhouse would be an even greater terror if he were a newbie vampire and set his sights on the preacher's wife!
Be cool if Sookie could somehow get pregnant with Bill's baby.
