First question(s):1. How is Sean like Bill? How is he different? 2. It is rare for CH to write in anything but 1st person narrative. Dancer's is told in 3rd person and we see the events through the eyes of both Sean and Layla. Does this give us more insight into vampires? 3. How do Layla/Sean (in ATD) compare to other vampire couples (that include maker/child) in Sookieverse: Bill/Lorena; Sophie/Hadley; Sophie/Andre; Eric/Pam? Do you find this valuable? |

"First question(s):Just want to go on record that Sean and Layla remind me of Bill and Sookie in many ways and wondered if CH hadn't thrown us Bill/Sookie fans a bone with the ending of Dancers. Do you find this valuable? |

"First question(s):I think that Sean is like Bill in that they both seem to be quiet and reserved. Sean would definitely do anything for Layla. Where I think they are different is that I don't think Sean really cares about how other vampires see him. He seems to be fairly comfortable with who he is even if he isn't always comfortable with what he has done. I think Bill definitely cares about how he is seen by other vampires. For instance he though it was degrading to have to pretend to be in a relationship with a human. Of course he changed his tune later. Do you find this valuable? |

"First question(s):Sean is like Bill in that he's protective of Layla and seems to genuinely care for her. His rage over the injustices that Layla has had to endure remind me of Bill. Sean tries to be a part of the mainstream through his dancing, much as Bill is trying to fit in. The differences though are many. As Aria indicated, Sean is more comfortable with himself as a vampire and as far as I can tell, he was not carrying out any edicts, which is how Bill came into Sookie's life. Sean was intrigued by Layla and compelled to find out more about her. His motives are different to begin with. I liked Sean a great deal...he's a person with integrity and character. Bill has those traits too, but I think that Sean's age and experiences have made him a better vampire! Do you find this valuable? |

"Just want to go on record that Sean and Layla remind me of Bill and Sookie in many ways and wondered if CH hadn't thrown us Bill/Sookie fans a bone with the ending of Dancers."OD, I agree that there are a lot of similarities between the two couples...the ending of Dancers works on many different levels. At this time CH could still be going in any direction with Bill and Sookie. Didn't she say once though that Sookie will not become a vampire? I guess the next book will give us more direction on the situation. (Or confuse us even more!) Do you find this valuable? |

""First question(s):I have to say I haven't ever thought about Bill and Sookie when reading Sean and Layla's story. I think "Dancers" stands on it's own very well. However, now that you mention it there are some similarities: Bill and Sean are both rather reserved. Neither of them seem determined to throw their vampireness (for lack of a better word) into the faces of the humans they come into contact with. Both men are initially reluctant to get involved with the human women who are thrust into their existence, but then they become protective of those women. Neither man was allowed to choose to become a vampire - though I would imagine they are not unique in that respect. And, of course, both men seem to be even more attracted to their women when they realize said women have emotional scars. That's JMO, of course. :-)) Do you find this valuable? |

I think there are a some similarities between Bill and Sean. They are both quiet, almost brooding characters. They both come from humble beginings in their human lives. They are both romantics. The differences; Bill is more political than Sean. Sean cares about dancing and living a quiet undead life. But he doesn't seem to care much about politics. Sean's initial interest in Layla was purely interest. He had no other agenda as Bill did when Bill first sought out Sookie. Sean and Layla don't really remind me of Sookie and Bill. They are both love stories, but they start so differently. Plus Layla and Sookie are so different. The only thing that about the two relationships that seems to bare a resemblance, is that Sookie felt like and outcast because of her telepathy before Bill. Layla was made an outcast because she has to hide from her crazy x. Other than that, I can't see any similarities. Do you find this valuable? |

"I think there are a some similarities between Bill and Sean. This may end up being a question later on, but the only other similarity that I see between Layla and Sookie, as Leanan mentioned is their emotional scars. Both women have been sexually abused and this has seriously affected their relationships or lack there of with men. Do you find this valuable? |

"I have to say I haven't ever thought about Bill and Sookie when reading Sean and Layla's story. I think "Dancers" stands on it's own very well. Both Sookie and Layla bring out the protective natures in Bill and Sean. Both vampires feel as if the women belong to them. Sean and Layla have more in common with each other.. they've found they're dancing soulmates in each other. Do you find this valuable? |

I had a different feel for the story because of the third person POV. I liked it, maybe because it's the typical way we read fiction. Am not sure. Do you find this valuable? |

"I have added another question. I loved that this story is told in 3rd person and we get to see things from Sean's viewpoint. What do y'all think?Object, I too enjoyed seeing Sean's viewpoint. And that was a bit surprising for me as I enjoy reading first person novels. Truly love to get inside their heads and know what they're thinking and experiencing and seeing how they react. However, with Sean and Layla... I LOVED it so much and was terribly bummed when I finished. The characters are very much in love and it was a nice break to read something in a different way. And to be totally dizty in my thinking... I also missed not fully being able to experience Sean and Layla as first person. Oh Lawd... I blame my post on the root canal torture. To sum up the above blathering... I did very much so enjoy the novella the way it was written. I believe it's because both Sean and Layla are so endearing and interesting IMO. =^..^= Do you find this valuable? |

Ooo a P.S. here...It did show different personalities of each vamp and that was interesting to me. I like to believe that becoming vampire, you still keep part of your human personality. Hopefully it's a good one! And yes, yes I know things change as the vampires go through the ages!!! Do you find this valuable? |

"Ooo a P.S. here...Oooo..root canal torture. You have my sympathies Bizzy! Now, about the novella...I couldn't put it down, had to read it all in one night before bed. I have to ask, do you think that having an "ending" of sorts made it more enjoyable, and gives the reader a kind of closure to the Layla/Sean love story? Would anyone want more of them or do you think that the novella is enough? Do you find this valuable? |

I like having an ending (with some updates!). One of my favorite authors is Barbara Pym--she had a "gimic" of walking characters from other books through the background (it is how we find out which man Mildred married in Excellent Women). That pleases me! Do you find this valuable? |

I like to think that they are able to live out eternity dancing and loving each other and that wouldn't make for a very interesting novel. I really enjoyed getting inside Sean's head as well as Layla's in the novella. Although I love the way the novels are written it does make me want to be able to glimpse into Eric, Pam, and Bill's minds to see what they are thinking. Do you find this valuable? |

Now I wish I knew MORE about them. They seemed so very different than many of the other vamps. Do you find this valuable? |
