To Alan Ball:

- Do you and your casting agents find them selves deluged with head shots, resumes, and reels of talent trying to get cast as characters you HAVE NOT put casting calls out for - BUT who appear latter on in the book series?
-Cause we here are having a blast speculating - but I wonder if it wouldn't be a major pain in the rear for you guys.
-And one wonders how much professionals act like nerds too.

- Any stories you care to (or can) share?

to Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, Now that you are a real -life couple and coming out of the coffin , so to speak no pun . How do you think that your real life chemistry will translate to the series.? Does it make it easier or harder working with your real life partner? or its just no big deal, since you are both actors with alot of acting experience. ?
PS. are you greatful, to CH for maybe bringing you , maybe your true love ? to Mrs. paquin.

I agree w/ fbt- how do Anna & Stephen feel about the speculated ways their characters can go w/ the book background??? I personally think the two of you react off of each other's chemistry SOOOOO much, it's hard to imagine you not being a couple. Would bringing the Eric dynamic into it, do you think it will affect your non fiction life???
We as fans are torn- reading the bools it makes you feel that Bill cheated from the very beginning but that would mean he set her up to get assaulted by the Ratray's. If so, was this just to have Bill have a chance to get Sookie's part fae blood? Since Eric really never interacted w/ Sookie in the series except for the Fangtasia scenes, why or when does he become so attracted? Eric never really lets anything be outright when he keeps telling Bill, "I'll take the girl!" If Bill's acting on the Queen's orders, will Bill be punished for going over Eric's head? Oh, so many questions, so little time.:)

Will the book character of Amelia or a similar character be introduced in the upcoming season?

Because of the rabid popularity of the Bill and Sookie relationship, will you introduce a new love interest or interest for Eric?

To Alex Skarsgard:
1. Out of all the entertainment professions, i.e. actor/director/writer, which is the one you find the most personally enriching and satisfying?
2. I believe I read somewhere that you've done some modeling. What did you think of modeling and why did you stop? Or do you sometimes model still?
3. Your father is a famous and successful actor. How has that influenced your career as an actor?
4. Your father is an artist and your mother is, in effect, a scientist [being a physician]. Do you feel you're more artist, more scientist, or a mixture of both?

This is To Stephen Moyer, Kristin Bauer, and ALex S.
if their was a fight between the vampires? Who would win?
Bill, ERIC, or Pam?? and if so why.

personally as a fan, I think Pam would win, as all she would have to do , is break out a pump shoe heel, and go midevil on someone ass.
To Kristin Bauer. You are so good, as Pam and god bless you for love of animals and rescuing them.

His father is one of my personal favorite actors... Very famous in Sweden, but has really only had supporting roles in American film...

Small but strong part in Unbearable Lightness of Being -- Captain in Hunt for Red October -- abolitionist in Amistad, the professor in Good Will Hunting, Father Merrin in the Exorcist spinoffs -- but he dazzled in Breaking the Waves, and the original Insomnia (not the Al Pacino remake) -- and as Will's father, "Bootstrap" Bill Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean. LOVED him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang... (became friends with Paul Bettany/ who with wife Jen Connolly named a son Stellan after him!) He was also great in the miniseries Helen of Troy, which got overshadowed by Brad Pitt's butt in Troy... Not a big Mamma Mia fan and didnt love his role in that... had a guest role in HBO Entourage, didnt see it because we dont watch it.

Played Goya in Goya's Ghosts, I love period movies, but this was not my favorite role of his-- and he virtually disappeared, the soap-operaish story focused on Lorenzo and Ines (Bardem who was incredible... and Portman) and it didnt deserve the panning it got ... Loved loved loved Beowulf and Grendel the Gerard Butler/Stellan Skarsgaard./Sarah Polley version...

Stellan is one of my personal favorites, too. I loved when he said, in King Arthur, "Kill them all. Let God sort them out."

To Alan Ball:
Any chance you could put Stellan Skarsgard in as a guest vampire, a really ominous, dramatically evil, powerful one? We would love it!

Alan Ball: Will we be seeing more interactions between Pam and Sookie? Kisten Bauer shows the same dark humor that the Pam in the book has and it's great! If it you can, plese put Pam in more episodes. Thanks 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

That was an actual phrase from the middle ages: Cannot recall, but one of the Popes sent troops to fight heretics, and when it appeared that there were Christians among them, the soldiers hesitated -- And he said "Kill them all, God will know his own" which passed down as "Kill them all. Let God sort them out."

YES!!! good idea! Why, he could play Eric's Father, an even older vampire, LOL!!!

How do you decide what plots you will take from "Living Dead in Dallas" and write them into the script? Do you get advice from Charlaine Harris on how to make the book come to life? You have any suggestions for a college student wanting a career in the movie industry as either an art director or costume designer?! Well Good Luck with Season 2, I hope “True Blood” gets picked up for at least another season!! 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

While playing many contemporary roles in film and television, you could be considered a prototypical period drama actor, as evidenced by your repertoire of historic genre roles: Cadfael, Quills, Prince Valiant, The Grand, Lilies, The Secret, Uprising*

Period films/shows tend to present more developed and complex characters than slick, one-dimensional heroes of the modern blockbuster. Without glitzy special effects, historical dramas present a substantive framework for understanding the human condition and for grappling with moral questions and dilemmas. For the period actor, it seems that more gravitas is required for costumed portrayal. Dialect mastery, meticulous body language, and study of the particular era’s mores and norms are essential to create verisimilitude.

Not to suggest playing a more contemporary character is effortless; in fact, it could be a tougher challenge for the actor. Since there are no extraneous or unfamiliar accoutrements like armor or ascots or armbands to distract the audience, more attention has to be placed on accurate, believable dialogue and action. Roles set in present-day must be credible, and the audience watches with a more critical eye since they feel they are in common turf.

That said, I ask:

1) Do you find it harder to play period or contemporary roles?
2) Which genre do you prefer and why?
3) Do you find vampire Bill Compton all the more compelling because he is a composite of both genres: an historical character set in contemporary times?

*(BTW, your work in Uprising was brilliant, and Kazik was the best character in the cast: you gave him the full spectrum of human emotion, from bringing levity into a life-or-death situation to expressing the hopelessness of sorrow at the loss of his beloved. So engrossed was I in the storyline, at the end I was stunned to learn it was nearly 3 hours long!!)

Thanks!

My first time on this board...I usually leave it to others as I am perfectly happy to sit back, strap myself in and enjoy the ride! I love Ms. Harris's books and I love what Alan"curve" Ball has done with True Blood. I am a "down the middle"..."Vampwich" girl and am enjoying both series immensely.......SO! That being said.....My Question is this:

With the more than prompt return of True Blood for Season 2 (THANK YOU!!)....it brings to mind other HBO series who did a similar thing only to keep the fans waiting over a year for the next season.....Will this be the plight of the fans for Season 3? I am bold enough to assume there will be a Season 3......inquiring minds want to know.

Thank you HBO for taking the time to listen to your fans!

98. RE: Questions about the AMAZING True Blood Series!

Hey Bubba!!! My first time on this thread as well. I also am a huge fan of the series and the books. I first got hooked on the show from watching those crazy promos you were airing like, it seemed, months before the series actually appeared that wonderful Sunday evening. Then I went and bought the books and got hooked on them! Anyway, my one question is for HBO, why is it that you can't put this fabulous show on demand? I mean, I am paying for the 11 hbo channels you have, and I would love to be able to watch True Blood at any time! Please put it back On Demand!!! OK, sorry had to get that out there, again.
My next question is for Mr. Ball, Do you feel obligated to keep the series as close as possible to the books, or are you just using the books as a starting off point?
[by the way, Mr. Ball, I love what you're doing either way! I'm still going to always watch and be hooked no matter where you take it!]
My other question is for all of the vampire actors, You have to keep your same hair length, body size, age ect. Is that part of your daily routine's to make sure you don't change, well, at all? Is that hard or stressfull? Do you feel it's worth it?
Thanks again for listening HBO, Cast and crew of my favorite show, True Blood!

Also my first time on here... as i said previously, I CAN'T WAIT FIR SEASON 3... HAVE WATCHED SEASON1 RE-RUNS SEVERAL TIMES NOW!! I read that Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are a couple in real life.... I wonder how this fact ( if it is a fact) will affect the show. Also, I can't wait to see how "Gran Stackhouse" will be written in ( in dreams or flashbacks??). Do you find this valuable?
