"I have a creeping gut feeling - that while she was told that Bill set up provisions to have her looked after - and SHE TRANSLATED that to paid off - I think REALLY, Bill spilled the beans to Eric on why he was there in the first place - his mission by the Queens orders, so he could head his makers call,, and NOT be derelict in his duties to the queen.
Note - the Queen never punished him for going to Mississippi in the first place.
Albeit maybe she figured she was punished enough - or maybe its cause he did the "right thing" .

In which case - if I'm right, Eric has known since book 3 that Bill was ordered there, and had been holding that leverage until it suited HIM best to tell Sookie - not when Sookie could handle it best."
THANK YOU! I've been thinking this for ages ,but havn't been able to figure out how to write it. I get so tired of people talking like Eric is a paragon of virtue (he's not human people!) I'm not defending Bill's actions ,but from his POV he was doing the best he could in the situation. Book 3 Eric tells Sookie about Bill running to Lorena ,but leaves out the fact that Lorena is Bill's MAKER ..this would have altered Sookie's perception of the situation since by that time she understood a little about maker/child relationships. He threatens to torture her ,but mentions how much he wants to have sex with her ...Sookie reads his mind during the Longshadow incident and he's thinking how he can control her by threatening people she cares about..he lies to her and gets her to swallow his blood so he can "read" her and manipulate her better....he takes advantage of every opportunity to push and push and push to get her to have sex with him and leave Bill. This isn't the behavior of someone in love .

Eric iis not evil,he's a vampire and using every means he has to get what he wants. We have 8 books now where he could have tried to start something real with Sookie. IMO in book 9 ,Eric is still at the starting line ...calling her "my lover" repeatedly won't change that. And I agree that Eric knew for a long time why bill was in BonTemps,he waited til the best possible moment to destroy Bill and Sook's connection. The Queen never punishing Bill !! That's a terrific point!!

On Topic: Why is Sookie such a horny hypocrite? She's just like her brother ...really.

"What would your question be? I'm just curious to see what everyone comes up with ^_^

Mine (as of today) would be:
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

If a human gets bit by a full were (be it Werewolf, Werepanther, etc...) and becomes sort of a hybrid of whatever the biter's shift is, what would happen if a human gets bit by a full-blooded shapeshifter, like Sam?"
i'd like to know what was up with Def. Dead. Why the big gap of a story involving Sookie killing the vamp that killed Hadley? I read the first few chapters and kept thinking "did I miss something" what happened??" "Did I skip a page or something?" I mean she gave us the gist of what happened, but I just felt gyped by the whole deal- like she skipped a book almost. Anyone else?

Thanks,I'm really going to have to get to that site and peruse thru it ...sounds like some good stuff. I've been thinking alot about this today....Queen Sophie wasn't dumb....she was an expert at reading what others were doing and making character judgements ....so if you look at it from that pov ..Bill's actions make more sense and Eric being ticked off but also NOT punishing Bill makes even more sense. hhhmmm

I would ask... will Bill and Sookie ever get back together and/or get married ,now that marriage between humans and vampires is legal in Conn., and will they have as close to a family as possible.......maybe adopting Hunter.
will Sookie's fairy great-great grandfather help Bill to be able to tolerate the sunlight on a limited basis.

Bill has completed at least 2 major indiscretions: 1. The Lorena thing 2. Seducing her for Queen Sophie Ann is Sookie really going to give him a chance for 3? I know he has acted like a sweetie, but come on #3 is just waiting to knock Sookie over. Do you find this valuable?

Why do people want her to adopt Hunter? He's got a loving and protective father already and his father has a girlfriend who obviously loves the child. Sookie's life is WAY too dangerous, just knowing the people she knows (not to mention the relationships she's had), where even the connections to the people she knows could come back to haunt her. That is just NOT a healthy environment for a child of ANY age. Hell, it's not especially healthy for an adult.

Marriage, even if it happens (be it to Bill or ERIC or whomever) it doesn't solve anything.

As for Niall doing anything to help Bill (or any Vamp) tolerate sunlight, that just seems like a really baaaaaad idea. Plus, I don't think Niall would ever do anything like that, no matter how much he loves (or says he does... there has to be a reason for Niall's son to want his father to stay away...) Sookie.

I have a question for Charlaine Harris, and it's a very general one... When you started to write the Sookie book series, did you ever think it would be the basis for a TV series--an extremely popular TV/cable series?...and did you ever imagine that show would be nominated for Golden Globe Awards (for best Drama series and best actress--AnnaPaquin)?....
Yes, it's true, if everyone has not heard, our beloved True Blood and Anna Paquin have been nominated for Golden Globes!! YaY!!!

Thanks for the recommendation!! ... I have read all of the Sookie novels, the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries and have read the 1st Harper Connelly book (Grave Sight). When I'm caught up with that series, I'll start on the Lily Bard series. Charlaine Harris books are so much fun to read!

"I agree, why was Sookie having such a dry spell in Book 8. What would have been so bad about a 3 AM Booty call with Eric or Bill? (Forget Quinn, don't think the sex with him was that great, at least not in description). Another question are we done with Quinn and the Pelts? Sick of them both.

I agree with you!...I liked Quinn...Quinn had family problems, but he always seemed to be honestly good to Sookie, he seemed to really care about her. He just disappeared from the story, which was kind of sad...but I am tired of the Pelts, and I hope they are good for good.
