Trueblood themed dinner party this Sunday - Help with recipes!
Nov 20 2008, 11:22 AM EST | Post edited: Nov 20 2008, 11:22 AM EST
I am hosting at my home the season finale dinner party this Sunday. I need help with coming up with what to serve as the appetizers and the "main course" . If any one has some really great vampire themed recipes and ideas that would be awesome. I will have about 15 guests all coming as a different character - I will be Sookie of course! Sobe has a strawberry-something that looks like a Blood Lite. Print the labels from the Halloween section (I think they need to be a touch bigger, though) and carefully peel off the Sobe label. There will be enough stickyness to have the labels stick nicely.

Sorry, but no help on the rest.

My wife eats these wild berry flavored power bars that are pretty good and the other day a kid asked her if she was eating raw meat. When she looked at the bar she just about vomited. Because they really do look just like raw meat. If you were to cut them up and put some type of red glaze on them. That might be a good sweet appetizer if you eat with a health food crowd. Not the best idea, but it's all I could come up with if I think of more I will let you know later. Good luck with your party.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. We're having others over also, but among our friends, there still seems to be only a few of us. I guess that will change once Season 2 starts. I will be serving some Cajun-style finger foods. Ettoufee, spicy shrimp and vampire kiss martinis. Do you find this valuable?

Actually, I remembered that the recipe on the Karo syrup bottle makes an awesome Pecan Pie.
However, I used the Dark Karo and a little less white sugar. The people I made them for (Southern Boys) LOVED them.

I have collected all sorts of stuff on my blog: TB recipes ( hey foodies), scene snippets from books 1-8, photos, the character’s family trees, book and season #1 timelines ( there is lots to know about who is related to who and who they descend from) I also have links and info on the books author and cover illustrator – lists of the books and short stories in the Sookie mystery series( don’t miss the short stories!)
It’s all book spoiler stuff -so don’t come until you’ve read the books or if you don’t want to be surprised.

There is a index so you can look around for stuff by topic - I’ve had a wonderful time doing it but you may really find some stuff that interests you ( I’ve spent way to much time on it. http://lovingtruebloodindallas.blogspot.com/

I have most of the Big Patty's pie recipes and they are a big hit !!
Click on True Blood Recipes in the topics area-send me recipes if you think they should be up there !
You can sign up for email updates of the Trueblood Dallas blog
Sorry I had to fix it but its there now
Put your email address in the box on right column.

I have more cool stuff going up soon and more recipes!
Thanks

I don't have a recipe, but I think Red Velvet cake would go nice, and you could use red food die on the frosting to make it red too. You can probably find a recipe on foodnetwork.com Do you find this valuable?

I was thinking Red Velvet cake, and truebloodindallas already posted it. Not hard to make. I use white cake mix, with red food dye. White frosting makes the red stand out a lot. Good luck on your party!! Do you find this valuable?

Don't forget a couple of bottles of the Vampire incase a guest wants to keep it simple & have a glass of wine (it's actually a good, inexpensive wine).

"Cherry Gore"

-Get ample Pitted cherries ( figure 1 cup per expected guest)
-Pit them
-Run through a food processor or blender until just chapped and mangled
-Get a baking tray (like for brownies or sheet cake)
- Spread cherry mash out in tray
- Put in freezer (not long enough to freeze them HARD - Just STIFFEN)
- Put in glasses and serve w/ spoon

This is also good with a variety of booze, Ice cream, Greek Yogert, Etc etc.
Its icy and it looks like brain matter or other viscera.
