I think that the actor who plays Lafayette should be in this category and a nominee, also the actor who plays Eddie. "

"Where is Bill???"
Bill is not a supporting actor here. He's one of the leads. I suspect that Sam would also qualify as a lead. For the first season, however, I believe Alex Skarsgard would be the supporting actor category, as would Nelsan Ellis.

"Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds)"
Hands down I think that Nelsan Ellis should be the only choice. No one can steal a scene the way that he can. As long as Bill is not in the same scene that is. Lafayette's lines a still burned into my memory. The way he often times mispronouces words, leaves them in your mind. He is one of a kind. Wonderful acting, they could not have cast the part with any one else. He is the character spot on!

In his three episode arc, I thought Stephen Root gave an amazing performance as Eddie. I've always loved him as a comedic character actor, but this was a whole new level for him. Shame he got staked. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

He did do an amazing job as Eddie, and really made you feel empathy for his plight. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything but comedic roles so he really got to show his acting chops (oops, sorry about the pun!) as Eddie. It would have been nice to see that character develop, maybe as a replacement for Bubba, instead of killing him off and leaving us with other annoying characters.

Detective Andy Bellefleur, played by Chris Bauer. This brilliant actor sunk his teeth into the role so deeply that he drew blood, yet left no obvious evidence. Each week, we surrendered to the simple pleasures, and his power grew with every taste. We expected Andy Bellefleur to be slow perhaps, even stupid, because that's all we'd been fed by actors with far less imagination, range, and talent. Chris Bauer played it smart and slowly seduced us.

He's blown such big holes in a stereotyped part that he's redefined it for all actors to ever follow in a similar part. He's raised the bar and ventilated the roof, playing a small town Southern law enforcement officer with such authenticity, skill and restraint as to redefine the part for all time. Bauer's Detective Andy Bellefleur defines "before" and "after", delivering on the claim that "the South will rise again".

Chris Bauer is my nominee for Best Supporting Actor.

The nuanced and thoughtful portrayal of Detective Andy Bellefleur drew me in slowly and left me curious, then hungry. Having tasted such authenticity, I cannot imagine ever again being satisfied with less. Chris Bauer brings Detective Andy Bellefleur to life, having dug him up from the premature grave into which so many less talented actors consigned the South's small town law enforcement officers, playing them slow, stupid, and stereotypically. We allowed that because it's all we'd ever known-'til Chris Bauer brought us an Andy Bellefleur so believable that I want to feed him pie, keep his coffee hot, and call him Detective like Sookie.

Detective Andy Bellefleu is my candidate for Best Supporting Actor.

Wondering why Lafayette isn't in this category? He's nominated under Best Actor, and you can vote for him there. Please vote for Chris Bauer as Detective Andy Bellefleur for Best Supporting Actor.

Nelsan Ellis as Lafayette. He is not leading man type, but he sure does add some support! 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
