"Hey LaProvI cant sleep!!! Thanks, glad you liked it!!! I responded to a thread about how TB characters would vote if they could... and that suddenly released my mind from angst-ing over early outcome... and it was FUN to focus on the Stackhouse Kids for a change!!! Passed the entire afternoon having fun... stopped my mind from thinking too hard after I voted, and before I made the last of "Get Out and Vote!" calls! I love this country. Even at our worst -- and this current presidency is likely the worst in our entire history -- I just knew in my gut we would not drown in the muck.. That's what makes America so great! And the enthusiasm of the 18-35 year olds made an enormous difference,,, canvassing, campaigning, calling, and convincing their elders to do a little eye-opening!! Awe-inspiring. Y'all grew up with integration! Y'all are color blind! Y'all know how to judge someone by the words they say, the deeds they do, and the content of their character!! Do you find this valuable? |

Im so wired right now, I can't sleep... But its the happiest restless night in a long time!! You said it well... No more embarrassment over this failed 8 years. And what is true poetic justice: The GOP soundly chastised Obama for being a "community organizer" -- they joked, they tried to say how being a community organizer meant he had no experience... and look what his community organizing led to!! 400 grassroots offices working 23/6 for every 40 GOP offices... President Obama. I love it. I love our new First Lady. I love that there are little children in the White House again... and our new First Puppy!!! Love it Love it Love it!!! I am white. I am a woman. And I have NEVER voted along party lines. Right before the primary election, I was actually worried that I would have to choose between McCain and Clinton. As I was not a big McCain fan, I watched the Democratic primary and prayed that I would be given a real choice come election time. My prayers were answered in Obama. If the race would have been between Clinton and McCain, I don't think I would have voted. Anyway, on my way to work this morning I got tears in my eyes because it finally seems that maybe America has finally come around to the TRUTH that "RACE DOES NOT MATTER". I am tired of living in a world that makes RACE an issue and I think that America has finally taken steps to show the world that we are all "just people". 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I am afraid though that in many peoples eyes Race does still matter! Not mine as I must tell you that I have never ever been that way! I live in Missouri (I call it Misery) and I am appalled at how the people are here. They make me sick and almost ashamed to live here. But I am sooo glad that I got to be a part of this History and am Proud to be an American. GoBama!!!! God Bless The USA!!!! Do you find this valuable? |

I live in Chicago and had the good fortune to score a ticket to the rally last night in Grant Park -- and I could not have been more proud of our country and our citizens than I was last night.Instead of the predicted riots and chaos, it was a gathering of hope and good cheer. Honest to goodness, people were actually considerate of each other in that mass of over one hundred thousand people. I was really proud when the crowd was respectful during McCain's speech and even cheered at his graciousness. Being in Grant Park 40 years after the riots during the '68 DNC convention proved just how far we've come (I wasn't alive then but I've seen the footage, read the books and walked on those same places). That park was filled with all races, all ages, all socio-economic groups and everyone was happy -- even the police were gracious letting people pet the horses and some cheering with us and returning greetings. It was a great moment for us. There's a lot of work ahead but we can do it. Do you find this valuable? |

I have never before voted FOR a President - only against what I saw as the lesser of two evils. This time, I wanted Obama as my President. I wanted it to be him .... I am enthralled and constantly moved to tears by his words and vision. He has taken some of the sting I feel from the last eight years of Bush and eroded the anger I feel at the Republicans currently in power. There is hope.

Ecstatic, wonderful, HISTORY MAKING MOMENTS!!!! Pennsylvania is BLUE...... been a long time!! I was canvassing and phone banking the last two days, and I have to say that those peeps form NY ROCK. Many, many volunteers came from NYC to help us out! I am so happy knowing HOW MANY of us woke up. Everyone gather around, let us see what we can make of these excting, revolutionary, albeit trying times! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I worked for and voted for Obama and I totally agree with you, I am still crying tears of joy! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Have to say though, California really let me down. The majority her still favors bigotry over equal rights for same sex couples. I'm a woman who married a man but come on, how does same sex marriage hurt anyone? Good day for the country...bad day for California.

LaProv, cute story. Very nice! As for our new president... Anyone else cry in first response? I was in shock when I saw that screen come up at 8pm PSD saying who the 44th president was going to be. After the last two fixed elections I never thought they would 'allow' Obama to win. Staring at that screen in disbelief we thought we'd have to wait at least three more hours to see the winner, that they must have made a boo boo. Then I just started crying when the hosts said "We're still here" in croaking voices themselves, the fact they (two grown men) couldn't talk for a couple seconds made it real. I'm not someone who cries either dammit! lol Oh the joy that this country finally voted a real/genuine president in office, I'm so proud. I had lost hope in this country as of late, but now I have a renewed faith. Do you find this valuable? |

I'm a southern girl born and raised and now living in TN. The state didn't go blue (completely red, even in local government), but I'm in Shelby County (Memphis), one of the few big blue spots on the little tiny map of the state.I've never felt there was any reason to be proud to be an American until this election. I've always been a Dem, and a pretty staunch one, but never really felt it would really make much of a difference, that no one could change it. Goodbye to cynicism! What a beautiful and wonderful and brilliant man we've elected! And what an amazing time to be American. I can't wait to tell my grandkids. (Though I gotta have the kids first, of course.) California has sort of broken my heart, a little. Thanks for the story, LaProv. I'm glad that, while we can all come together in our general and mutual appreciation (perhaps overly so) for the exciting undead, we can also come together in a place that isn't a vacuum and realize that the show, itself, does not exist in a vacuum. My only question about your story is - are the vampires really out there voting?? Isn't it daylight?!? -Ashley Do you find this valuable? |
