TWILIGHT
Oct 24 2008, 9:54 PM EDT
Although I am loving True Blood every Sunday, I also was very much into the Twilight Saga and am eagerly anticipating the movie release November 21. I thought it was great the way they strayed away from the traditional vampire mythology. For instance them not being able to go out in the sunlight because it will kill them. Instead they can't do it cause the glitter and it would attract to much attention for mortals. I would like to get anyone else's feedback on this series...

this series was so awesome I read the books in a week and a half.! Yes very creative with the glitter in the sun, my daughter and I can't wait to see the movie, we hope its somewhat close ,that can be the bad thing when you read books then see the movie its just not quite the same as reading it in your mind...but we feel its probably gonna be great...we love trueblood also and can't wait every sunday til its on.

I am glad that other people love Twilight as much as I do. It was amazing, especially Breaking Dawn. I don't think I was ever so scared reading a book, cried so much or was more proud of a character as I was of Bella. The previews look great and I think Rob Patterson was a great pick for Edward. He will definately make you fall in love with the character all over again. The biggest twwist of all had to be Jacob imprinting on Reneesme. It was all fate. Their destiny's were all intertwined from the get go. The way Bella took to immortality made it even more evident that Edward was her destiny. Just like Sookie and Bill have this connection that goes way beyond sexual. I heard the books aren't good though compared to the show. Im kinda scared to read them now. Have you read them? Let me know your opinion

It definitely was good reading and I cannot wait for the movie. I read it before I saw True Blood or read any of Charlaine's series, and was really surprised by all of the similarities. Of course Charlaine started the Sookie Stackhouse series before Twilight was written. Twilight was the PG13 rated series, and thank you Charlaine and HBO for True Blood as the rated R series!

I am reading your reply to my mom and we are hysterical. My sister and I just finally convinced her to start reading and now she understands how wwe couldn't put them down... She said OMG should I take Zanyx before reading New Moon. You are right New Moon was very depressing but into it I found my heart breaking for Jacob. I was very sad for him but understood it all after reading Breaking Dawn. I would have to say Breaking Dawn was my favorite. To know that Bella became the strongest suited to face The Volturi out of anyone else was freakin great! I cried, I laughed, I was scared. You are right this book series is definately emotionally wrenching. I am so glad to have found all of you and I will be adding you all as my friends if that is ok. These discussions are great I love it!

Then her son (a tween) read it, my secretary at work is on the fourth one, my sister's baby sitter read it, her friend and her daughter... We are going to have a big crowd on opening day of the movie. When I read the first book, I was like, "oh s@#$, I'm turned on by a character who will be played by a teenager!" and also thought, "ok, can't she just add a little bit of sex to the books" but I know that's not her style. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "Have you read them? Let me know your opinion"I read The Southern Vampire books after I finished Breaking Dawn. Although there are similarities (mind reading, shape shifting) they are like apples and oranges. Twilight is Young Adult and SV is Adult. I think you should absolutely read the books. They are better than True Blood, but book usually are better. Reneesme BLEW me away. I was floored. I didn't hate the book and feel bad that it was slammed so hard. And I'm devastated that we may never get to read Midnight Sun. From the 12 chapters posted on Meyer's website, I think that would have been my favorite book. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I guess there is room for both. But I'll still take Eric over any of the Cullens any day! But the jury is still out on Breaking Dawn, I must think more on it. I'm starting to stop hating that book I think. Do you find this valuable? |

The Twilight series was the first vampire story I'd read. I did fall in love with the story (and Edward), but I it would have been nice for there to have been more characters in the Twilight series. I'm on the 5th Sookie Stackhouse novel and it continues to make me wonder. There are so many different possibilities.... So exciting that I can't wait until I get home from work to pick up where I left off... I also like the fact that the Stackhouse books are a more "adult" read(those heated passionate scenes). Twilight was and is beautiful and I'm anxiously awaiting the movie too, but I have to say that I'm addicted to the Stackhouse story. Both the books and the HBO series (which differs a little from the books).

I've always been a vampire fan, and have to say I enjoyed Twilight and Stephenie Meyer's vampires. A lot of people forget that the series was written for YOUNG ADULTS. So she didn't want to make it too scary, and only alluded to the great vampire sex.Being a 32 year old, I missed the vamp sex and wanted scary...but enjoyed it none the less. I am all about TEAM EDWARD! Do you find this valuable? |

Everyone please do remember like some of the others have stated that Twilight is suppose to be "pg13" and the two are both very good with diff. I enjoy almost anything Vampires, {with other creatures} so these are just fun all the way around...I am team Edward ....although I could go team Jacob...I also like the werewolfs...there pretty cool to. and while I like Bill its hard to sometimes knowing that hes only with her because he HAS to be...but ends up liking her,cuz shes likeable...still sucky...whoops sorry about the pun! lol! I am excited any time a semi-good movie with vampires comes out..seems like so few in between...ahhh great to have books.... anyone read The Historian? its suppose to be amovie soon..???very good, lots of history on dracula.

I was re-reading some of these and I think the crowd out for Twilight is going to be quite BIG. I think its great that all ages love Twilight and True Blood. Wh at do you guys think of others, adults or kids who condemn the books or movies and never read them ?.... I usually don't say anything , cuz its to bad there missing the fun, and they probably won't change there minds anyway...what do you say or think??

You guys all rock! I am so glad I started this thread. Although it seems I don't have enough time to reply to each and everyone, please know that I am reading, I am acknowledging and I am loving all the comments and opinions. For me I must say watching Bill claw his way out of the ground and than bang the hell out of Sookie in Ep. 8 was kinky but at the same time it was a little gross. Chick you are still human, ever heard of a yeast infection...LOL. Sorry that is just how my mind works. But in my heart there is plenty of room for Forks, La Push and Bon Temps. I think when I stop this accounting gig maybe I'll want to be a waitress at Fangtasia. Wouldn't that be great!? Anywho... as I said in prev. posts anyone that posts a comment I am adding as a friend. I do hope to keep this going I think ya'll are great.!!!

I agree with you...the TWILIGHT series is awesome!! My little sister got me "hooked" on this series. She kept telling me to read them; until I finally gave in! I read them all 4 during my maternity leave while I fed the baby!! It was sooooo good! Now, I'm hooked on "TRUE BLOOD". Thanks to my sister AGAIN!!

Hey if anyone in the Central Florida area needs a movie buddy or wants to get a group to go to the movie, please contact me and let me know. I can't wait! Only 23 more days. I just hope these 2 actors can truly depict the Bella/Edward love story. It is so intense. I also hope the movies do not drastically alter the books. I hope it is as intense and passionate and romantic and suspenseful as what Stephenie Meyers penned...
