"This is by far my favorite thread. I find myself reading the whole thing from the beginning, over and over. It's like Bill and Eric's greatest hits. All the good bits and none of the filler. "
LOL! Same reason I love this thread too! And besides (of course) the shower scene in Book 4, I have to say my favorite one is the post-staking scene in Book 3... see above. Not just because of the action going on, but how Sookie, for the FIRST time ever, allows Eric to take care of her so she can pass out when the stake is removed. That's a huge thing!

Shit - I think i"m going to have to read 3 and 4 again. I really do have to get back to my life at some point, but I can't shake this vamp fever. I'm praying we get some Eric and Bill together next week.

LMAO!!! I have re-reread the whole series so many times, I actually have part of all the books memorized... and ALL my favorite part (with the exception of 2) have Eric prominately featured. I want more Eric. Hell, he should have his own spin-off!

This time as I go through them, I'm hilighting the good parts so I can find them. How ridiculous is that?!

Not rediculous at all! I would do the same, except I don't want to mark up my books. I'm the process of one-at-a-time lending to one of my preggo friends who's about to pop any day and she's trying to find something to do while she stays off her feet and she's been burning thru the books almost as fast as I did my first time. I swear I'm on my 3rd or 4th reading of some of them and there are little things each time that I didn't notice before. Theya re such good books... I have been this enthralled by a series since Harry Potter! (yes, I was a geek about that too!)

"Ok, kind of a silly question on Eric's part, because he's basically asking her if he's better than Bill. Did Eric know that Bill was her first? I just though of that and I can't honestly say if he knew or not. Hmmm..."
I don't know if Eric would care about Bill being her first as long as Eric was considered better. I'm surprised he hasn't asked her just to have a little fun. That's one of the fun things about his character ,he reminds me of one of those 100 year old people they have on the tonight show every once in awhile . You know what I mean ,they've been alive so long they don' t worry about what they say anymore . They're hilarious . Eric is like that,he's been around so long that fun conversation is the only real pleasure left to him.

Great quotes btw guys, very fun! I can't wait to see Eric and Bill interacting without Sookie around and then in front of her. They ahve a bit of Kirk/Spock kinda of vibe don't you think?? Bill is a bit stoic in some ways...a little Spocklike.

"Oh, no doubt that's hot (God, I sound like Paris), but everything that happened after that Throws Bill on the back burner... *see shower scene, book 4, post-staking scene, Book 3, post-fairy dinner scene, book 8, post-shooting, Book 5, pre- date with Quinn, book 6, blood swap, book 7.... etc, etc...*

"Thank you, eric."
"For what?" His hand gently stroked my stomach.
"For standing by me in the club. For coming here with me. For not leaving me alone with these people."
"How grateful are you?"...
"That kind of ruins it, when you say something like that," I said, trying to keep my voice gentle. "You shouldn't want me to have sex with you just because I owe you."
"I don't really care why you have sex with me, as long as you do it," he said, equally gently. His mouth was on mine then. Try as I might to stay detached, I wasn't too successful. For one thing, Eric has had hundreds of years to practice his kissing technique and he'd used them to his advantage. I snuck my hands up to his shoulders and I am ashamed to say, I responded... Eric seemed to have six hands and they were everywhere, encouraging my body to have its way. A finger slid under the elastic of my (minimal) panties and glided right into me.
I made a noise, and it was not a noise of rejection. The finger began moving in a wonderful rhythm. Eric's mouth seemed bent on sucking my tongue down his throat.....
Again, Damn Bubba!"
holy... .ff... oh.... I, uh.... oh.... need second....

OK, reading it AGAIN!

"Hmmm - wonder who gives the best massage, Eric or Bill? "
This is likely a rhetorical question LOL but I'd guess probably Eric. Bill seems to do it for his own enjoyment. Eric would makes sure you felt every. single. stroke.

There is no going back. I finished the series and went out and got the Twilight series, and just ordered the Bite and Wolfsbane...my husband's new nickname for me is worm...as in bookworm. It's an addiction I'm not sure I want to cure!

That's the thing though... Sookie's not a "just have some fun" (that way) kinda gal. She regrets going to bed with Quinn, because she told him several times that she wasn't a one-night stand kind of girl, but that was all she got with him (through no fault of her own). I think Eric does take pleasure in the verbal back-&-forth that he has going with Sookie and their dialogue is ALWAYS entertaining. I love when they dance together...

Eric offered me his hand, I took it, and he put his other hand on my waist.
Despite the difference in our heights, we managed quite well. I pretended I didn't know everyone in the bar was looking at us, and we glided along as if we knew what we were doing. I focused on Eric's throat so I wouldn't be looking up into his eyes.
When the dance was over, he said, "Holding you seems very familiar, Sookie."
With a tremendous effort, I kept my eyes fixed on his Adam's apple. I had a dreadful impulse to say "You told me you loved me and would stay with me forever."
"You wish," I said briskly instead.

*and from earlier, same scene...*
...I didn't expect any salutation from Eric. But he bent to give me a kiss on the cheek, and he gave it lingeringly, as if he wanted me to know he's like to seduce me.
He didn't realize he'd already kissed just about every inch of Sookie Stackhouse.

Gotta LOVE Eric & Sookie.. Boo Bill!

The same exact thing happened to me! I started w/Twilight & went to this series. My husband said he has never seen such a transformation & my nephew calls me a bookworm.

I thought the below dialog was so wackily cute. It made me laugh!

Eric: "...She finds out offerings of vintage wine & young bull inadequate".

S: "You took her live bull"?

E: "Indeed we did"......"it has been several centuries since I dealt with livestock. Pam is a city girl. Indira had just too much awe of the bull to be a lot of help. But if you like, the next time I have to transport animals, I will give you a call & you can go along"

S: "Thanks, that would be lovely", I said, feling pretty confident I'd never get the call.

From Definitely Dead, one of the many reasons that Eric is so vivid [SPOILER]:

A head flew past Quinn's shoulder...I made a sound. It wasn't a scream or a gasp; more like "Eeeeep."

Fighting had broken out throughout the room. I hadn't seen the precipitating incident, but on some pretext the black vampire had attacked Wybert and cut off his head. Since Wybert was one of the queen's bodyguards and Dreadlocks was one of [the King's] attendants, the beheading was a pretty decisive act.

...Just then I was knocked flat to the floor, losing my breath for a minute. I struck out, only to have my hand trapped. I was smushed under a big body. "I've got you," Eric said.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Protecting you," he said. He was smiling with the joy of batle, and his blue eyes were glittering like sapphires. Eric loved a brawl.

"I don't see anybody coming after me," I said. "It seems to me like the queen needs you more than I do. But I appreciate it."

Carried away on a wave of excitement, Eric kissed me long and hard and then scooped up Wybert's head. "Bowling for vampires," he said happily, and flung the disgusting object at the black vampire with an accuracy and force that knocked the sword out of the vampire's hand. Eric was on it with a great leap, and the sword swung on its owner with deadly force. With a war cry that had not been heard in a thousand years, Eric attacked the circle around the queen....with a savagery and abandon that was almost beautiful in its way.

"my favorite passage is from Dead Until Dark, Chapter 7. I hope you agree.

****possible spoiler**** read at your own risk!

"Kiss me" he said. I lifted my head and turned, and our lips met. It was blue fire, not orange-and-red flames, not that kind of heat: blue fire. Ater a second his arms went around me. After another, my arms went around Him. I began to feel boneless, limp, With a gasp I pulled away. "oh , we can't Bill."
I heard his breath draw in. "of course not, if we're separating," he said quiety, but he didn't sound like he thought I meant it. "we should definitely not be kissing. Still less should I want to throw you back on the porch and fuck you till you faint."

I had a cigarette after that line............"
oh yeah that's a good one. Eric in book 8, after he smells Fairy on Sookie after she meets her great-grandfather:

"Niall had been able to mask the odor of fairy from Eric in the restaurant, but I saw from the flare of Eric's nostrils that the intoxicating scent clung to me. Eric's eyes closed in ecstasy, and he actually licked his lips. I felt like a T-bone just out of reach of a hungry dog.

'Snap out of it,' I said. I wasn't in the mood.
With a huge effort, Eric reigned himself in. "When you smell like that," he said, "I just wanna fuck you and bite you and rub myself all over you."

When the Fellowship of the Sun ambushes the Dallas vampires in their suburban mansion in book 2, Eric throws himself over Sookie to protect her from the spray of bullets:
When the noise began to taper off, I looked up into Eric’s eyes. Incredibly, he was excited. He smiled at me.
“I knew I’d get on top of you somehow,” he said.
“Are you trying to make me mad so I’ll forget how scared I am?”
“No, I’m just opportunistic.”
I wiggled, trying to get out from under him, and he said, “Oh, do that again, it felt great!”

Yes! That's when you really start to see how entranced he is with her...she's not quite on the "Eric" train yet but...at that point, it's just a matter of time ;-)

Dead To The World Chapter 6:
*
*
*
Right after Eric & Sookie do the deed for the first time....

I yanked myself back into the moment, which was fine enough. I stroked Eric's hair, tucking some behind his ear. His eyes on mine were intent, and I knew he was waiting for me to speak. "I wish," I said. "I could save orgasms in a jar for when I need them, because I think I have a few extra."

Eric's eyes widened and all of the sudden, he roared with laughterThat sounded good. That sounded like the real Eric.
