"2. Also Dead as a Doornail (Book 5)

Bill spends the night with Sookie at the hospital after she's been shot. I really like Bill and feel sorry for him here. But I love the fact that he is admitting how special the Eric-Sookie connection is. He points out how full of life Eric & she are, and in a way, how it makes sense that they'd slept together. Bill sounds defeated, yet hopeful that someday he'll be able to win her back.

"I never was in a hospital til I knew you," I said.
"Do you blame me?" [Bill said]
"Sometimes." I watched his face glow. Other people didn't always know a vamp when they saw one. That was hard for me to understand.
"When I met you, the first night I came into Merlotte's, I didn't know what to think of you," he said. "You were so pretty, so full of vitality, and I could tell there was something different about you. You were interesting."
"My curse," I said.
"Or your blessing." He put one of his cool hands on my cheek.
"No fever," he said to himself, "you'll heal." Then he sat up straighter. "You slept with Eric while he was staying with you."
"Why are you asking if you already know?" There was such a thing as too much honesty.
"I'm not asking. I knew when I saw you together. I smelled him all over you. I could tell how you felt about him. We've had each other's blood. It's hard to resist Eric." Bill went on in a detached way. "He's as vital as you are, and you share a zest for life. But I'm sure you know that..." He paused, seemed to be trying to frame what he wanted to say.
"I know that you'd be happy if I never slept with anyone else in my life," I said, putting his thoughts into words for him.
"And how do you feel about me?"
"The same.""
This is the part right before Eric walks in and makes Bill spill the beans in book 6...right?

SPOILER***

no no. Sookie seems to be in the hospital quite a bit, so it's hard to keep her stays straight. lol. This is from book 5. Sookie gets shot on the shoulder because Sweetie mistakes her for a shifter. Bill spends the night in the hospital with her and she asks him if he can lay in bed next to her. Claude picks her up from the hospital the next day and takes her to the apartment she rented from Sam (because her house had the fire set by Charles Twining).

The scene in book 6 you're referring to is when Sookie is in the hospital in New Orleans after cleaning out Hadley's apartment.. Jake woke up as a new vamp and attacked her and Amelia. Eric comes to see her first, then Bill. Bill is annoyed Eric is there, and Eric makes Bill tell Sookie the truth. Sookie ends up leaving the hosital and walking back to Hadley's apartment without having been treated. Hope this helps clarify. =)

Eric to Sookie "When you smell like that I want to f**k you, bite you, and rub my body all over you""
Help, is book 9 out already? Did I miss it? I'm heading to the book store!

No worries! Book 9 is NOT out yet. It comes out in May of 2009. That quote is actually from Book 8. It was probably a mistype.

What a fun thread this has been to read. Most of my favorite quotes were already listed. Love the f you, bite you, rub you quote, but my favorite is the one when eric states he was happy for the first time in hundreds of years. <<sigh>>

Even though this wasn't a quote, I loved this part in book 8 during sophie-anne's trial: Eric had been standing to the side of the room with Pam and Bill, but now he moved forward. I could feel his presence, cold and steady, very near to me. He gave me some courage. <<another sigh>> lol

I absolutely love this thread! I am compiling a list of favorites per book and then series quotes (can we say "obsess much?" LOL) but until then, here are a few more that I love (mostly found on ericnorthman.net)... Forgive me if I repeat any quotes. (I'm sure you won't mind too much!)

Sookie: Is this going to fade? It will, right? We won’t always be like this?
Eric: I like being like this. You’ll like it, too. — All Together Dead

Did we make love? Did you finally yield to me, Sookie? It’s only a matter of time, of course. — Dead to the World

Eric: I’m hoping that the more you see me, the more I’ll grow on you. — Living Dead in Dallas

Sookie: But you’ll listen, right? If I need to talk? For the same reason?
Eric: Of course, my lover.
Sookie: Because you want to have sex with me.
Eric: That, of course. But also because I find I really do… I find I have feelings for you. — Dead to the World

Eric: He’ll spare you. You’re too unique to waste. — From Dead to Worse

Eric: You are beautiful. You are smart, and you are loyal. You have a sense of fun and adventure.
Sookie: Cut it out.
Eric: Make me. You have the most beautiful breasts I’ve ever seen. You’re brave. You’re responsible and hardworking… There. You’re creative, too. — Dead to the World

Eric: If I had known you would be this gorgeous with your clothes off, I would have tried to do this sooner.
Sookie: You did try to do this sooner, about twenty times.
Eric: Then I have good taste. — Dead to the World

I knew I’d get on top of you somehow. — Living Dead in Dallas

What a lot of trouble you are, Sookie. — Living Dead in Dallas

I had a psychic once. It was incredible. — Dead Until Dark

Sookie: Why would killing me cancel the debt?
Eric: Because he decided after listening to gossip and much reconnoitering that you were important to me, and that your death would wound me the way Long Shadow’s had him.
Sookie: Ah… So Hot Rain and Long Shadow were doing the deed, once upon a time?
Eric: Yes, but it wasn’t the sexual connection, it was the… the affection. That was the valuable part of the bond. — Dead as a Doornail

Eric: Could it have been random that I found myself running out in the middle of nowhere… except that nowhere was on the way to your house?
Sookie: Probably the fairy blood.
Eric: No. — All Together Dead

Eric: You’re not cleverly using this as an excuse to make out with me?
Sookie: I’m not that clever, Eric.
Eric: I think you deceive yourself, Sookie. — Living Dead in Dallas

Had it occurred to you that you tend to walk away when things between you and Bill become rocky? Not that I mind, necessarily, since I would be glad for you two to sever your association. But if this is the pattern you follow in your romantic attachments, I want to know now. — Club Dead

Sookie: Who did your hair?
Eric: Oooh, jealous? — Club Dead

Eric: I don’t believe I could be convincing as a queen, but I decided this sent such a mixed signal, almost anything was possible. — Living Dead in Dallas

Eric: Sitting here on your bed, smelling your scent. Sookie… I remember everything. — From Dead to Worse

Eric: What did we do, Sookie? And to whom?
Sookie: It was chicken blood. I killed a chicken and cooked it.
Eric: Sookie, Sookie. My bullshit meter is reading that as a ‘false.’ — Dead as a Doornail

Eric: When this witch is defeated, I would bring you to my side. I will share everything I have with you. Every vampire who owes me fealty will honor you. — Dead to the World

Okay about this quote (When Bill says he would die for her and asks Eric he could say the same) - I was kinda bummed he wouldn't risk himself for her but Bill would. I know it fits with his character, but still...

You must also know this. Even more pertinently, if anything happens to her, forces you can’t imagine will be set into motion. — From Dead to Worse

This one made my imagination fly, just after he revealed the pink lycra outfit:

"Hey, our hair's the same color," I said, eyeing us side by side in the mirror.
"Sure is, girlfriend." Eric grinned at me. "But are you blond all the way down?"
"Don't you wish you knew?"
"Yes," he said simply.
"Well, you'll just have to wonder."
"I am," he said. "Blond everywhere."

Oh... Alexander Skarsgard saying that he is... blond everywhere...

"Some of my favorites:
"I don't like having feelings." - Eric, Book 3
"Eric, we had sex in every position I could imagin and some I couldn't. We had sex in every room in my house, and we had sex outdoors. You told me it was the best you'd ever had..... Too bad you can't remember it" -Sookie, Book 5
"Should I just bite you, and end it all? I would never have to think about you again. thinking about you is an annoying habit, and one I want to be rid of. Or should I start arousing you and discover if sex with you was really the best I've ever had?" -Eric, in response
I love these books! I love tall, well built blondes with ice blue eyes...
"

"**Book 8 possible SPOILER**

"This is Eric," he said. "Is this my former lover?"
Okay, even that made things inside me thud & shiver in excitement........
"I lay in front of your fire and talked to you about your life," he said.
Okay, way out of left field. "Uh. Yeah. We did that."
"I remember our shower together."
"We did that, too"
"We did so many things."
"Ah... yeah. okay."
"In fact, if I didn't have so much to do here in Shreveport, I would be tempted to visit you all by myself to remind you how much you enjoyed those things."
If memory serves," I said sharply, "you kind of enjoyed them too"
"Oh, yes."
"Eric, I really need to go. I got to get to work." Or spontaineously combust, whichever came first.
"Good-bye." He could make even that sound sexy.
"Good-bye." I didn't.

Okay, I know that's a long one, but I love how he mentions the shower second, after the talk by the fire. SO telling."
And this is why I've gone over to Team Eric!! :) In book 4 he had me wrapped around his little finger, and still 5 books later he hasn't let go!!!
