"The second unit filming was done in Shreveport and around the area. The "nest" that the locals burnt down in episode 7 was a historic old house in downtown Shreveport and it caused a real stink.

As for the accents, I disagree with some of the other Louisiana-connected folks here and say they are poorly done. Renee sounds like the assistant coach off The Waterboy.

Having never read the books, I don't know how accurately the place names reflect the author's usage, but I find them horribly distracting. It's as if someone just sat with an alphabetical listing of Louisiana place names and picked them at random. There's no geographic continuity. People bounce all over north Louisiana as if they are going down the street. As for the general feel of the scenery, it's quite awful and degrading as well. Everyone lives in a run-down house with peeling paint and Spanish moss-draped live oaks. Every road seems to be either gravel, one-laned, or both. It's a caricature and a pretty inaccurate one."
I wish they'd film some in VA. Depending of what part you go to, you can find old farm houses and lots of land, small towns & lots of thick woods (forests). Anyway, that's just a wish. I live on the outskirts of the city, Richmond...........and I hate it. My mom and I want to move away from here. I hate the city.

"A LOT of it is filmed outside / inside of Shreveport. Jason's (Stackhouse) house is actually a friend of mines house. They where there filming last fall. The scenes that are actually filmed in Louisiana are small but numerous. We try to leave the (actors / actresses) alone... but it is hard. It will be exceptionally hard now that we know who they are. Haven't seen Anna yet... but have seen most of cast."
I am so glad that they are actually filming in LA. With the hard hit economy, I am sure that every little bit helps, wherever they film. It just seems like it should be in LA, to me that seems like the authentic thing to do.

"The house was burned this past April. It was a run down home that local preservationists were attempting to save given it dates to the 1800's and was the last remaining historic brothel from Shreveport's the former "red-light district." After the scene was filmed, there was some confusion as to what was going on as permission was not explicitly given to burn the house. As a result, it was demolished. "
Oh thanks.

Hello,

I read that season 2 would be filmed begin 2009 in Los Angeles, where exactly they didn't say and I tried to find out via HBO but well it's logic they can't tell.

However an intersting point I understood chating with someone from HBO is that the actors might find it nice to come sometimes on the forum (I think it was more the HBO True Blood forum, not the wiki) but it's a bit too much "oh he/she's hot" and not very pertinent or fun for them to go trough...

ok ive had enough! this is killing me!!.. im am from lafayette louisiana..born and raised. obviously you people have nooo idea how the culture in louisiana is, the accents, the people everything about the show true blood is such a huge cliche' made up by the douche bags from hollywood who obiously they were to lazy to just come down to the south and observe for themselves how things really are! and as far as Rene's accent goes, its horrible!! that is not at all how a true cajun acccent sounds!!! i mean seriously every since Tara and her mom were eating crawfish out of fried chicken bucks and calling them mud bug i just cant help but call out anyone whose stupid enough to think this is true to the rich louisiana culture..we're not all drunk, racists, uneducated coonasses! 1  out of 3 found this valuable. "I don't know why this bothers you so much, TB is set in a fictional world in the south, it's not trying to be "correct" or "realistic" with its depiction and is infact trying to create it's own image of CH's world.

Maryland where I live, is allways being typecast as the Homicide capitol of the world on television (The Wire,Homicide, ect) and the actors they use allways speak with a harsh NY dialect which Hollywood could'nt get more wrong but there's nothing you can do about it exept sit back and enjoy the material anyways. "
A lot of the scenes are filmed in Mansfield, LA which is a little south of Shreveport. The scene where Jason goes to work and the rest of his crew tell him his grandmother is dead was filmed next to our courthouse. My house is actually on the other side of the courthouse. Also the scene where Rene is using the jackhammer and Jason goes off on him because he is using it next to a tree was at a house a block from mine in Mansfield. I do not believe the whole crew is in my area but the work scenes for Jason working outside have been filmed there thus far.

Unfortunately, they do sound like a lot of us from that area. Rene does actually sound like he is from the southeastern part of LA with his accent. I really enjoy this show.

Apparently True Blood will start on January 6, 2009, it will take about 6 months to film the 12 episodes. According to http://www.trueblood-online.com/public/?cat=75

I have lived in Louisiana almost all of my life. Raised in Natchitoches, but moved to Shreveport area as an adult. The accents are really not bad. Taras, is not very good. But Sookie, Jason, and Sams are really dead on. But I really thought Rene was a real cajun from his accent. When I googled him and found out he is not even from here I was shocked. But Lafayette OMG I so know people just like him around here. Sounds just like some people I know. Love him.
I saw a program on HBO talking about the show and the burned house when the vampires died was a house here in Shreveport. And in one scene they were driving and it looked like parts of Mansfield. Interesting that the Fangtasia scene was shot at Central Station. it did not look like it to me.

i just started reading the books and decided to give the show a look. i've lived in shreveport/bossier, louisiana my entire life and some of their accents really disappointed me. Tara sounds like theres a bubble in her throat and she is forcing words out and it just doesn't sound right and that gets to me a little. They need to try to write in yall a bit more because the only time i hear people really say "you guys" is when they're not from here and most of these people are supposed to be natives. and i've noticed a few try to hard for a southern accent. i know small town southern accents are stronger than us in shreveport/bossier but some of them try way too hard. also why is it when they finally make a show set in the south they make sure to have it focused around drunk "rednecks" in a bar? everytime i go somewhere like LA they assume i'm a drunk just because i'm from here. oh and is V supposed to be a lot like X or is it a coinicidence? "I live in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which is about an hour across the river from Monroe, La. I've lived here my whole life. I was wondering where they film the show. I love the show and of course the books. Vicksburg is actually mentioned in the 3rd book. I love the fact that the actors perfected their southern accents for the show too. I just hate to watch shows or movies with actors that cannot speak with a true southern accent. Many of the characters remind me of people I know. I guess that is why I love the show so much, plus Charlaine Harris is from Mississippi. Merlotte'ss reminds me of a bar that I used to hang out at in high school. Yeah I know, I said high school, but the drinking age in Louisiana at that time was 18. IT WAS AWESOME! I also really like to look and Bill and Eric! I hope the show continues for a 3rd season. "
I don't know where the show is filmed but hopefully someone will enlighten us. I, too, was born and raised in the south. Raised in Charleston, SC area and now live in Atlanta and Charleston. I love the setting being southern. I saw "Bill" in an interview speak about how difficult it was to speak when his fangs were down. He said the tongue wanted to get in the way. Then to top it off, he was having to perfect a southern accent when his fangs were down. He was funny.
If they do indeed have LaFayette dead in season 2, I will miss him and his true southern accent. He was born and raised in Alabama. I loved his character and hope somehow, miraculously, the pink toes hanging out of Andy's car will not be a dead Lafayette. I can't imagine True Blood without his character.

I don't know if this information is available or not but......does anyone know the mailing address to the main studio? I belong to the Supernatural fandom and we send post cards to the stars and crew to welcome them back to the studio, wish them luck for the season and so on....just thought it would be cool to do that for the people at True Blood too. :-)
