I recognize the old house up on stilts in the cypress trees as a place on Caddo Lake in Uncertain, Texas. Friends and I were in Uncertain for the weekend just a week before the show aired, and we have pictures of that same house.

Was the fishing scene in Episode 7 also filmed on Caddo Lake? It looked like it might have been filmed on the Clear/Black/Saline lake complex between Natchitoches and Winnfield.

All of the cast members have done a great job with the Southern Accent, however not all are the same in LA. I have fallen in love with TrueBlood. I am not a tv watcher. I would have never known about this show, and I thank my friend for making me watch it. I would also like to know where the parts have been filmed. Being Louisiana born and raised, I have lived all over. Bastrop, Monroe, Columbia, Winnsboro, Springhill, Bossier City, and Shreveport for all of Northern LA. I've also have lived in South, LA

A LOT of it is filmed outside / inside of Shreveport. Jason's (Stackhouse) house is actually a friend of mines house. They where there filming last fall. The scenes that are actually filmed in Louisiana are small but numerous. We try to leave the (actors / actresses) alone... but it is hard. It will be exceptionally hard now that we know who they are. Haven't seen Anna yet... but have seen most of cast.

"I live in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which is about an hour across the river from Monroe, La. I've lived here my whole life. I was wondering where they film the show. I love the show and of course the books. Vicksburg is actually mentioned in the 3rd book. I love the fact that the actors perfected their southern accents for the show too. I just hate to watch shows or movies with actors that cannot speak with a true southern accent. Many of the characters remind me of people I know. I guess that is why I love the show so much, plus Charlaine Harris is from Mississippi. Merlotte'ss reminds me of a bar that I used to hang out at in high school. Yeah I know, I said high school, but the drinking age in Louisiana at that time was 18. IT WAS AWESOME! I also really like to look and Bill and Eric! I hope the show continues for a 3rd season. "I agree with you 100%. There are a few........dare I say, a-holes hangin out here degrading the actor's talents and accents. They are just jealous. Lord, I get compliments on my southern accent and I'm only from Virginia. I grew up with my grandparents. They came from the NC boarder about 1930 and along with them came alot of southern sayings and doin's. You get grease on your hands, wash it off with gas. My granpa even had his own gaspump. He had a farm to tend to and farm animals to watch over. I remember, as a kid, those cows gettin out! HAHAHAHAH. It was so funny. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I agree with them nailing the accent. I live in Lafayette Louisiana and have lived here most of my life. Everywhere you go in Louisiana there are different dialects. But as for Renee, lol he pretty much has the cajun french/english accent down for the most part lol. I do not sound like that but being around it most of my life I can imitate it easily. Meh, ya know we can sond like dat if we want ya know me huh sha. LOL harder to type that actually speak.I have found most of the rest of louisiana especially as you get further north, its more of a country accent but not like texas. SO yeah I must say as a louisianian/lafitian they have done rather well with the accent. WAY better than that old 70s/ early 80s old guy from new york who used to cook on tv as a cajun chef with his fake accent and his confusing tasting cajun food. This dude would totally like add every fucking flavor in the book to something that did not need fixing. If i were to eat his shit I wouldnt know if it was salty, sour, tangy, sweet, or spicy. I think my taste buds would have a fucking sesiure. Anywho off the subject. I heard them mention marysville several times in the show. And xillip hella sure doesnt sound louisiana lol, thats straight cali talk..jjk.. anywho i would love to take a trip up to see where everything is filmed so if anyone has some for sure landmmarks or wants to take a trip up there hit me up. email me please as im too busy and lazy to read all these posts lol. likuid1010101@yahoo.com 1 out of 2 found this valuable. My Older sister and her family live in Bossier city and the accents are very close to how my sister and husband speak, also my other sister is in Monroe along with my neices and nephews. The dialect is very authentic. They are all TB Fans of course.

the accent is done well i was born in south louisiana and still lived there and they r saying the name of places correct bill kinnda reminds me of how my grandfather talked before he died to bad bill dont know cajun french not creoal french would make him a lil more southen like

so im guessing that all outdoor/location shots are all filmed in Shreveport, while inside interior shots are filmed in LA on s soundstage??......thats normally how shows set outside of LA (or Vancouver) do it.

The second unit filming was done in Shreveport and around the area. The "nest" that the locals burnt down in episode 7 was a historic old house in downtown Shreveport and it caused a real stink. As for the accents, I disagree with some of the other Louisiana-connected folks here and say they are poorly done. Renee sounds like the assistant coach off The Waterboy. Having never read the books, I don't know how accurately the place names reflect the author's usage, but I find them horribly distracting. It's as if someone just sat with an alphabetical listing of Louisiana place names and picked them at random. There's no geographic continuity. People bounce all over north Louisiana as if they are going down the street. As for the general feel of the scenery, it's quite awful and degrading as well. Everyone lives in a run-down house with peeling paint and Spanish moss-draped live oaks. Every road seems to be either gravel, one-laned, or both. It's a caricature and a pretty inaccurate one. 2 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Maybe it's just deja vu but....I could swear that I have seen that house burned in another movie somewhere. Same method of burning too, molotov cocktails throw in the windows. The house was burned this past April. It was a run down home that local preservationists were attempting to save given it dates to the 1800's and was the last remaining historic brothel from Shreveport's the former "red-light district." After the scene was filmed, there was some confusion as to what was going on as permission was not explicitly given to burn the house. As a result, it was demolished.

NOTE TO TB LOCATION PEOPLEI know you all do not film in LA too often and I think you generally choose Shreveport but I attended an outdoor play in Louisiana in 2006 in Lower Coast Algiers on the West Bank near New Orleans at a place called A Studio in the Woods- an artist retreat and it was a PERFECT Louisiana location! I saw the outdoor play 'Beneath the Strata Disappearing' there directed by Kathy Randels. It was acres of land near a levee. Very cool. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I like the accents in TB. They reflect the background of each character. I like that Bill does not sound like a contemporary southerner, but as a southern gentleman of the mid-1800's. His delivery is most gracious.

My husband and I are thinking of taking a 1 or 2 night detour to Shreveport on our way home from vacation in March....we don't even know if they'll be on location there or CA.....we were just curious to have a look around and see where things are filmed.....can anyone help us out with info? Thanks.

I don't know what you would recognize. Shreveport is a city of 200k people. Doesn't look much like Bon Temps. But if you want to see something scenic in the area, you might try touring around Caddo Lake. It has that classic moss-draped cypress tree look in many spots. It straddles the Texas/Louisiana line north of town.If you want to see the look they are TRYING to create, you need to drive to Natchitoches (pronouced Nak-i-tush) or Cajun country further south. 3 out of 3 found this valuable.
