sam nod's at Bill
Sep 26 2008, 3:17 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 26 2008, 3:17 PM EDT
Did anyone notice that just maybe Sam knows Bill? Remember in the 1st episode when Bill was sitting down. Sookie said he was the 1st vampire at the bar. She said nobody noticed. Bill said,"he does!" And when he looks at Sam, Sam nods at him as f he was giving approval. I found that a little strange. Also, I believe that Sam is some what of a guardian for her or for some one of a higher rank. Just so you all know..I hate reading so I have not read the books..So! Shame on me.. But Now I want to know, but I don't want to wreck it for me. 9  out of 21 found this valuable. Do you?

It makes sense if you have read the first book which I just finished as Sam is a shapeshifter and can turn into various animals and a dog is one of them..In the book he does in fact end up guarding Sookie when Bill is away along with Bubba..but the HBO version leads me to believ something else when Sam pets the dog and says that line about Buffy or Blade coming to take care of Bill. Not sure where they are going with Sam in the TV version.

My only problem with that is Sam is awake during the day. Are you saying he is not a vampire but just changes form? Do you find this valuable?

Sam has a normal life, he is a true "shape shifter" which means he can change into any animal whenever he wants, however, at the full moon he has to change or he has to drink some strange herb drink his grandmother showed him how to make (he doesnt say this till the 8th book about the drink). In the book "sups" super naturals can spot each other, Sam spots Bill because he is dead.

That's how you mark a spoiler, guys - you don't spill stuff like Sam's gift without warning people who haven't read the books, OK? It's not fair to the new people who want to see the show as it develops. The title of a new thread that is intended for stuff like that should say Spoiler right up front.

Sam and Bill obviously recognized each other, but not necessarily from knowing each other before.

Sorry!!! This is all stuff that has happened in the first 3 epidoses . We are making sense of things that go together. We are not guessing the future of the series. We are simply chatting about The episodes we have seen. Sorry. But this is what goes on here. I have no idea what the future holds for the series. Nor do I want to know. But, when an episode plays we chat..LOL, SORRY!! I haven't read the books at all. I will read them after what I see all the episodes for this season. That way I can enjoy the books before next season. Just enjoy the ride. Nothin will be wrecked. It's still a good series. Do you find this valuable?

No, it isn't. I've seen the first three episodes many, many times. I've read the first book. You've dumped information here that isn't in the series yet. There is only the slightest hint in the show about Sam and only a person who has read the book would probably even notice it. I've been here since the first episode, so I don't hink you're in a position to tell me what we do here.

I just checked your profile - you just registered today. I knew I hadn't seen you here before because I've been here for weeks. You are in no position to lecture others on what goes on in this forum.

There is no guarantee that what happens in the books will happen in the show. Either way, people new to it are entitled not to be spoiled - that's common courtesy in any fan forum.

Actually, this should just be logical. Bill's senses are very accute(look at how much better Sookie could smell after drinking some of his blood) and humans probably all have certain smells in common that bill can easily pickup. And since Sam appears to have upgraded sense of smell as well this should make it easy for him to see a vampire,he would smell very different. What would be interesting is if Bill knows Sam is different ,but keeps his mouth shut which is kind of like gay mags not "outing" gay celebrities, its just not done.

Let's not forget that Sam was trying to catch Sookie's eye for who knows how long, and here this vampire comes in to town and takes all of two seconds to transfix her. After her long saunter to his table, I think his head turn was less of a nod and more of a puzzled expression as he's trying to figure out Bill and Sookie and what exactly is going on. To that I'll say that it doesn't matter how long Sam's been in love with Sookie. You can't force someone to fall in love with you. I think it's cute that Bill and Sookie had that kind of connection on their first encounter. That's called "love at first sight". I think Sam should stay out of Sookie's and Bill's business. I don't like he's personality changes, as if, if he doesn't get his way he gets upset and violent.... like a kid.....

But that's just what I think...

The thread is about what was behind Sam's nod in the first episode. Just because I may be aware of Sam's motivation doesn't make me a Sam-supporter; I think you have me confused with someone else.
