"The acting in this show for the most part is horrible. It makes hard to watch. The show concept is the thing that attracted me to tune in, but the acting is going to drive me away."Sorry you feel that way. I for one love the acting and the show. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think the acting is great for the most part. Anna hits a false note here or there, but it's not that bad. Jason is awfully good. Bill is great. Everybody else is as good as they need to be for it to be believable.

"Anna hits a false note here or there" Well, she is portraying a young woman that is a "virgin" and hasn' t dated a whole lot. Remember when you first started to date way back..... hummmmmmmm. Not an Expert, huh. 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

TARA NEEDS TO GO...the only one who can't act is her....if they cut out the useless scenes with her in it...it would be worth it. As for Anna...she is portraying Sookie pretty good, although I find that in the books Sookie has much more of a backbone that Sookie in the show...she may be a virgin but she is tough and stubborn. I love Anna Paquin for this role cause she has that innocent face that is needed for Sookie with a little bit of spitfire. 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I know the difference between poor acting and acting inexperienced. She occasionally hits a false note.

I just saw someone accepting an Emmy for John Adams and praising people who talk about real thoughts using complex sentences. Ah, that was Deadwood; True Blood, alas, is far from it. I think the acting is ok, it's the writing disapoints.

Give it time. It's a show with a lot of potential & worth it. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'm so glad someone else brought this up because I was afraid to say anything, lol! My friend thinks Anna is horrible. I disagree but I think Morgaine put it well. Sometime she is just a bit...off somehow. Another thing that bothers me is that some of the vamps talk horribly with the fake fangs in their mouth. I understand that this would be a difficult task, but come on. That really bothers me. I love the show and hope this improves with time, but this should have been corrected before millions of viewers watch, imo.

I think the show is wonderful, I hope as it continues the actors grow into the characters more...Ive already seen this happen in just 3 episodes...I think its naturally for the first couple episodes of any show to be kinda ackward. When I go back and watch dvd collections of my fav shows, Im usually shocked @ how different (maybe bad) the pilot episode is.....I hope you find this to be true if you continue watching!!!

For me Anna's brother stinks as does her best friend I forget her character name, but she is the bartender (HORRIBLE) hopefully they will be vampire toys & we wont see them much anymore. The gay cook is good. Interesting character development with him. Anyway the two leads will not be able to carry this show. I do like them much better than the rest. But sex, drugs, & rock'n roll are cool for what they are, but it's not enough! 1 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

Glammed by the vamps. There's a good explanation for some of the obsession going on here.

"I will just take a wild guess here and say you've been glamed by the Vamps so much so that your blind to some of the crappy acting in the show."Some of the acting is bad, some of it isn't. If you're a fan of the books... the story IS a little silly. It IS a little campy at times. It somehow makes it MORE realistic. Sookie's inner dialogue is very silly and sarcastic. If I met a vampire who was almost 200 years old and he told me his name was... Bill... I'd have busted out laughing, too. That kind of thing is what hooked me on the books and that's why I'm enjoying the show. Tara has smoothed out a little. I thought she did well with the scene with her mother. It's a series, not a movie. No Oscars being handed out here. Regardless of what anyone says about the acting, the fangs, some of the gorier details... it seems the bulk of the people here, and everyone I know personally who watches the show, finds it addictive and extremely entertaining. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. "Have no complaints about the acting whasoever.I'm fine with it too. But this show makes me appreciate anew the guts it takes for anyone to be in the arts, be it theatre or film or television or music. Everyone is an armchair expert. And some reviews can be so brutal. I remember a few interviews with various actors in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Peter Jackson himself, and all of them commenting on how they were always very cognizant of how attached Tolkien fans were to these characters and how they all hoped they did their characters justice. So I wonder, are those the most challenging/intimidating roles for actors? Characters taken from beloved books? I've seen interviews with actors who say they never read reviews, good or bad, because they don't want to be influenced or become too self-conscious about their own acting. I'm curious what True Blood cast members are reading any of the reviews. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I know everyone has there opinions and mine just happens to be I like the acting. I don't expect academy award jobs but hey speaking of academy awards... I do believe Anna received one at age 11 so I think that says she is fine actress. BUT that is just MY opinion.
