have to agree on some of the bad fangs comments - I don't much care for how the fangs are done - and I totally think that they have made them way too long. I think I see where the excessive showing of blood during dranking might be a good treatment for visual effect but I personally always like the very neat, very effective, very no blood spills idea for how vampire's drinking would happen. If a person is that connected and sucking out blood I don't think there would be blood spilling out like they showed when Bill drinks from Sookie -

The girl who plays Tara is a superb actress... and to think, she wasn't the first choice - the pilot episode had another girl that couldn't bring across that attitude this girl has....

I think the acting is pretty good considering the actors are from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Las Vegas. Sam is the only southerner and I have a stronger accent than he does and I'm in Pennsylvania.lolI think this is a great place to lose yourself once a week or more if you have VOD. It gives me a break from my Irish twins and hectic life! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think the acting is coming along. My real problem with the show, being that I am from Louisiana, is the portrayal of where Bon Temps is. Anyone from near Shreveport or Monroe knows that it is nothing like what the show portrays. It looks and feels like the bayou area, which is deep south and nowhere near where Bon Temps is.

I think the acting from most of the characters is good considering that Bill and Jason both have accents in real life. Sookie or Anna has the lead and I think that she is not that great of an actress. I looked up her bio and she has been acting a long time. She has a very long list of credits to her name. I was shocked! I think that the other characters carry her in this show. I can't believe that she got this role. I can pick out so many seens where she seems like an ameture. The scream after she finds Dawn dead, telling Bill that he will talk to her like a lady when they are out in the woods, the scene where Bill beats her home and startles her after there fight and the list goes on and on. I am in love with this show and watch it because I like to watch Bill or Stephen Moyer. He is HOT!! I look forward to seeing him once a week. It is my fantasy hour. I can over look Anna's ok acting to get to watch Stephen Moyer anyday. I just can't help to get a little jealous of her in all those love scenes or any scene where she gets to be in the same room with him. JUST HIS STARE MAKES ME WANT TO MELT!!

It's all really personal opinion, but I think Anna Paquin is SUPERB in this role. And as for being carried by the other performers, I think she (and Stephen Moyer) set a standard to which all the other actors have risen. BTW, Anna Paquin won an Oscar at age 11 for her role in "The Piano". 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I know I read that she won the oscar at age 11 when I read her bio and that was the shocking part. She might have been better in other roles, but her acting isn't as believable as the other actors to me. Your right, that it is all opinion and I believe everyone sees something different when they watch someone act. I think that some of the best actors are the ones that can be versitle in any roles that they play. If they act the same no matter what character they play then all we get to see is the actor or actress just reading different lines and seeing them in a different movie or show. Another famous actor I believe does this is Denzel Washington. He has many credits and very well known, but when I see in a movie he seems to be the same in every role. Just changed the script. I don't know maybe Anna is acting that way on purpose. Its just that some of the lines she delivers are just so fake and some of the lines she delivers are a little more believeble. I just thought after years of practice she would be better. But like I said before we all see something different. I did see her in X-Men and thought that she is acting excactly the same as she does in this role. I just see the same Anna but different outfits and lines to read. If you notice throughout the episodes the other actors are evolving and changing in their roles, almost like they are changing into these total different people as the series continues. Anna hasn't changed much at all in her acting throughout the show although her character is evolving. She is the same as when the show first started. The other actors in this show are very believable in the roles they are playing. You can feel their emotions and see it in their eyes. Its like thay transport me to this place where they are living with vampires among them. I will continue to watch this show faithfully til the end. Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) can bite me anytime!!

How should the acting be, polished so much that it is perfect.Life is not perfect and that is what the makers of Ture Blood want! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I'm so glad someone else brought this up because I was afraid to say anything, lol! My friend thinks Anna is horrible. I disagree but I think Morgaine put it well. Sometime she is just a bit...off somehow. Another thing that bothers me is that some of the vamps talk horribly with the fake fangs in their mouth. I understand that this would be a difficult task, but come on. That really bothers me. I love the show and hope this improves with time, but this should have been corrected before millions of viewers watch, imo. "how do you mean that they speak horribly with the fangs in their mouth?? i dont know what show you are watching but i think they speak fine.. they have a southern accent or try to do an english type, but other than that i think its great.. for all those that think anna's portrayal of sookie is not that great or that her acting sucks.. who the hell are you people? i think that this show is wonderful and i am happy with all the people that play the parts they do.. i have to admit that when i saw anna playing sookie i was like, "whaaat?" but now i see that the choice was correct.. you people really need to watch the episodes over and over, cuz i think your blind... I think that the show is wonderful too and I am truely a fan. Addicted! I have watched the show over and over and over again. I see in many ways why Anna was chosen for this role, but she seems to be the only one that is a little slow in her delivery of lines and emotion behind those lines. Acting is believing. When an actor or actress delivers there lines it should be as natural as you and a friend having a conversation. I'm not saying that this is real life, but that is what they create for us when they pretend to be other people. They take us to another place when we get caught up in watching them perform. When the other actors are performing in this show I feel the emotions that they are trying to get across to me. You can see it on their faces even when they are not speaking. Sometimes when Anna is acting she is saying her lines, but I don't think she believes in what she is saying. The words don't match the emotion. We aren't going through this Sookie is and we can only experience her emotions through her character. It is up to Anna to to get that emotion across to her audience. I think she does well, but not at the level of the other actors and actresses. This is all opinion and everyone sees things differently. No matter how many opinions come through this website, good or bad. There is only one thing that is true. This show is great and and it has a huge following. I will watch it until its final show. I watch and re-watch the previous episodes all through the week and I never get tired of looking at Stephen Moyer. I can't wait til Sunday! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think that what we need to remember about Anna Paquin and her interpretation of Sookie is how the character is being written - perhaps what some viewers are not liking is how Sookie is being presented. From all the characters, her, IMO, is actually the least developed thus far. While the other major characters are starting to get their individual strong story lines, I don't think that her character is. Outside of her connection with Bill Compton and her grandmother, what is particularly interesting about her that connects her to the audience? With Bill we are starting to get his family background, Jason is now joined the painful road of the addicted - Tara is starting to engage the viewers with her Tough Girl defensive traits - Lafayette, well this is the one character that has that natural something that takes over the screen. But our Sookie - I don't think the writers are giving us any way to really connect with her. The psychic abilities are starting to give her some interesting power and connection to the vampire world but I am still waiting to feel a stronger connection to her character. I am not particularly holding the actress responsible as I am the creators of how she is being developed - I don't think they have quite found what the Sookie character is going to be. I agree with you on the bad acting, but somehow they are making it work because it seems more realistic me that way... I did have to laugh though at all the horid accents. I am from the south and it made me laugh... The only one who seems to almost have it down is the character Renee. I think it will get better over time, but until I can go to the movies and watch TWILIGHT (over and over and over and over and over and over and over again)...LOL
