"This type of acting to which you refer is Method Acting... and there are many actors out there who don't need to do tons of research, or spending time in actual situations to nail a role... There is Meisner/Stanislavski acting which draws totally from within the person's realm of truths to react truthfully within an imaginary situation... And Alexander technique which enhances physicality so to free the emotional... So any good actor uses whatever works.

Like you say, hanging out with Goths won't cut it!!!

Moyer also played a vampire in the UK series "Ultraviolet" -- so already had his take on playing one of the undead!!! didnt even need vampire flippers, either, as he put it "I've already got these large canines!"

"
Yea that's the term. :)

Not all of them have to, true, but I'm saying its hard to say "oh you're not doing a good job" when there isn't really a basis of comparison.

I loved that interview... I have pronounced canines, too. It just makes Steve all the more sexier to me!

"Tara" is awesome! Of all the females on this show- she has the accent and the attitude down to a "T". I grew up around girls who walk, talk and act just like the actress portrays Tara. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

That's interesting you say that about Tara. My neighbor is from Northern LA, where the show is supposed to take place basically, and he thinks her accent is by far the worst. He says her draw is too long. I don't care either way, but Sam and Jason both sound more like my neighbor than Tara by far. He thinks Gran is great.

"I think the acting is great for the most part. Anna hits a false note here or there, but it's not that bad. Jason is awfully good. Bill is great. Everybody else is as good as they need to be for it to be believable."
I actually agree with you that there are a few false notes hit by Anna. In this last episode when she yelled for help. It just didn't feel believable. I felt that when she reacted to the cop saying Fangtasia that it was wrong for the character. Sookie doesn't react like that.

"Longevity has nothing to do with it. Or with what I posted. I was simply saying that I imagine it's difficult for all actors to take on characters that have a huge, loyal fan base. For every 3 people who rave about how great a job the actor is doing, another 3 will say the person sucked."
Hell yeah, and god help you if you have to do a role that someone else played for goodness sakes. I feel really sorry for those actors in the new Star Trek movie cuz they're playing the original characters from old Trek. The thing is actors don't think this way ....especially if they have theatre background where you have a troup of people who play the same roles. Each actor will interpret it differently and that isn't necessarily right or wrong.

Another point, just about every tv show that I've loved in the past 20 years had a rough 1st season. Most of them I own on tape/dvd and I don't watch the 1st season ,I watch the 2nd-4th seasons when the shows really found their footing and the actors were nailing every line of their character. Now ,think about how good this show has been and its only in the 4th episode of the 1st season. How good do you think their all going to be in a year or two?? I can afford to be patient and tolerant of a misstep here and there.

I know I'm going to tick off some people ,but the writing is better than the books so far . I'm not that in love with Charlaines writing. Some of the scenes she writes are just plain dumb.sorry

Wow! Jason and the "boner of doom" better than Harris's writing? I don't think I can relate to your standards.

I did not much care for the "V" and Jason's "D" problem - let's call it a "cautionary tale" - the first thing I thought of was the growth of Pinocchio's nose. It might help, or be tied into, the ending scene with Sam. Do you find this valuable?

Amen to the bad acting. The show has a great concept but I don't believe it will last. Maybe they need to add a truly established actor (at least in a guest starring role) to make it more appealing. Do you find this valuable?

Tara's isn't the worst. Bill's is. He sounds like Colonel Sanders. Sure, he's 200 years old, and undoubtedly, accents have changed, but... Still. Every time he says "ahhturry" I crack up a bit.

as far as stephen moyer goes, i think he has done a fabulous job considering he is ENGLISH. the American Southern accent is difficult for anyone to master especially considering it sounds different in every state. accents in GA are way different from accents in mississippi. i'd say cut them some slack. if you people are so put off by the acting, then don't watch. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. GREAT IDEA. How did you come up with that one? Did you think of that yourself? Thats exactly what I did. I urge others to follow their feelings and do the same. There are better things to do with your time!!!!!!!!!! 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

And unfortunately, I had the displeasure of having to read your post with my time. I can't get that time back. If you don't even watch the show anymore and all you want to do is trash the show's image, then get off the site please.

"I'm so glad someone else brought this up because I was afraid to say anything, lol! My friend thinks Anna is horrible. I disagree but I think Morgaine put it well. Sometime she is just a bit...off somehow. Another thing that bothers me is that some of the vamps talk horribly with the fake fangs in their mouth. I understand that this would be a difficult task, but come on. That really bothers me. I love the show and hope this improves with time, but this should have been corrected before millions of viewers watch, imo. "
what you said abou the fangs was spot on...and the retraction of the fangs...it sounds like someone clicking a pen. i laugh myself silly every time i see/hear it. it is a hoot. seems kinda campy to me. also seems like in this day and age they could have made it a more seemless transition. click teeth out...click back in...do the vamps have a button they push somewhere? would love to see the bloopers...wonder if anyone's has actually popped out...lol

"TARA NEEDS TO GO...the only one who can't act is her....if they cut out the useless scenes with her in it...it would be worth it.

As for Anna...she is portraying Sookie pretty good, although I find that in the books Sookie has much more of a backbone that Sookie in the show...she may be a virgin but she is tough and stubborn. I love Anna Paquin for this role cause she has that innocent face that is needed for Sookie with a little bit of spitfire."
TARA'S ACTING IS THE MOST HONEST, UNFILTERED , REAL ACTING I'VE EVER SEEN.
TARA HAS TO STAY !!!???@@@****WHY DO WOMEN HAVE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE STRONG IN NATURE?
WE ALL LIKE STRONG MEN, WHY NOT STRONG WOMEN?
