I think we need to start some kind of "Don't Kill Lafayette" petition and bombard HBO and Alan Ball with it. When he raised his finger at Tara in the kitchen and just says "Bitch" I almost stroked out, I laughed so hard. Right then he reminded me so much of my own Tara...

Lafayette has some of the best lines in the show. "If she talked any more shit she'd be shaped like a turd" that was hilarious. I loved him in the suit, all respectable at Gran's funeral. If something happens to him I will hate it, I think I am much more vested in the character in the show that the books. But if something happens I will enjoy seeing those that hurt him get whats coming to htem. Do you find this valuable?

Correct, but if you'll notice, sometimes he doesn't even have to SAY anything. It's all body language and expression.

I'm really hoping Nelsan Ellis' career takes off from this show. I'm already planning to go see THE SOLOIST just so I can see his performance.

Spoiler Alert -
I agree! But sadly Alan Ball does not read web sites and feels very strongly about not altering a project so that it will make some fans happy. He said that he has done that in the past with poor results. Also, he is trying to be true to the book so that means Lafayette must die. :-( But the show has done a great job fleshing out Lafayette. He really helps make it.
I also like the actress who plays Tara's mother a great deal. She is SOOO.... believeable!!! Her southern accent rings truer to my East Texas southern ears than Tara's.

I can agree that she is a good actress, but her character is annoying as hell.

It's unnerving how well she plays an addict... I wonder where she gets her inspiration from?

I agree, I can't stand to watch her, but it's probably because she's doing her job well.

I am really hoping that they have the character change a bit to be more like the book and over come the past and the person who brought her up. That does not mean that she will be any more trusting or softer, but move on to success in her life.

Darn, I missed that! I only saw the gold pants but he did say in an interview that he will be seen in a future show kissing a man and wearing very little. He added that he hoped his grandfather never sees the show. II will not miss it. (tee-hee) Do you find this valuable?

Was Lafayette saying the food smelled nasty because he does V and has hypersensitive smell? Or was he just saying that?? He told Tara she would regret eating that cornbread later... just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that. Do you find this valuable?

"This is totally not the character I had in mind when I read Charlaine Harris's first Southern Vampire novel series! I pictured him as fat and gross. I love Lafayette and his delicious attitude! My favorite character so far . . . what do you think?"
That is exactly why I can not bring myself to read the books. I love paint my own pictures when I read, but the TV is doing it sooooo well for me right now with Lafayette. I just can't bare to change the picture; or change the story for that matter.

Yeah, Lafayette is the coolest gay dude on the planet, and he can kick some ass. I'm not gay but I do admit he's a cool character. My favorite scene of his so far was obviously the AIDS burger scene. But you gotta watch him explaining the "V"topia to Jason, that is classic. Do you find this valuable?

I'm new to the string. Thought I would check out what every thinks of Lafayette. I have read all the books and think that Alan could keep Lafayette in the show to the end. He was killed only as part of the maenad scene. Alan could easily write that out just as he has written in Tara's mother. I think he's brought Tara's mother in to introduce the witches of Bon Temps and he has Bill kill LongShadow to introduce the Vampire Court happenings. I love Lafayette. He adds humor, excitement and straight talk to every scene he's in. He says what people are thinking. How refreshing. I can't imaging the show without him.

I can not imagine the show without Lafayette either. He sucks up all the air in a room and steals most scenes he is in and he has the funniest and best lines. Maybe Ball will keep him around but he seems to be surrounding Lafayette with reasons why someone might want him dead. Lafayette leads a very dangerous lifestyle.

I love Lafayette and am hoping that since his character is so much more developed in the show that a different victim could be selected so he can stay around. He was not nearly as much of a presence in the book, although the groundwork was there. Do you find this valuable?

SKANK!
OK, I'm confused; why in the world would Lafayette call Sookie a "Skank" for having sex and getting bit by a vampire? If a vampire waved a thousand dollars in front of my favorite "Entrepreneur" and all he had to do was have sex and give blood he would be dropping his gold thong in a heart beat. He would probably record it and post it on his web site to make more money.
So why would he make such a slur about someone he seems to like ?
Is Alan Ball trying to convey that no one likes Sookie's relationship with a Vamp?
By the way, we did not get to see nearly enough of Lafayette's gold thong. (tee-hee)

Ok, so do you think Jason will try and do something to Lafayette because Amy is soooo obsessed with V? I Hope Jason is not the one who ends up killing him for his addiction... Any thoughts??? Do you find this valuable?
