"Yes she was so... ruthless. *shiver* So if they put the Maenad in, then are they going to put the scene where she... you know... gets her "tribute?" Cause I think that whole part with the "party" is a little risque even for HBO. I'll be impressed if they stick to it, though. I hate when movies & series get cold feet.

"
I don't agree that that party is too risque "even for HBO". Did you ever watch the Sopranos or 6 Feet Under? While I'm sure they will curb the male nudity, I think we'll see the party in all its glory. mmm Eric..........

Well, yea I guess if they manage to just crop the video to avoid certain parts of the male anatomy, they could accomplish it. Like that scene in Troy, where Brad Pitt (Achilles) is washing up after battle... and all the women in the theater (along with me) were leaning forward as if that would help the camera angle :D

haha hopefully he is wearing the spandex tank top outfit described in the4 book! I am on book 8 now, i definitely am going to have to back and re-read just to make sure i got everything. I really am loving this series! I wish they could do the whole series on tv, i would love to see the more complicated scenes in the later books come alive! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Well I guess we were along the right lines... they showed Liam's orgasm face there was no doubt what was going on there but they didn't actually show his parts... which were described in the book. I think it worked. The trampy girl though... wow... I feel bad for that actress. I hope she cleans up well LOL 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

"I've only just finished the first one (yeah yeah, I'm a little late to the game; I just graduated law school and this is the first time in seven years I've had free time to do anything, so cut me some slack). Anyway, I really like Bill, and since I am incapable of controlling myself regarding spoilers, I read the wikipedia entry on Sookie, and was rather crestfallen to discover why Bill and Sookie's relationship ended. My question is, do you think I should progress with the books anyway? I have a feeling I will start disliking Bill and I really would rather not. How long do Sookie and Bill last? In what book do they fall apart? Any input would be appreciated."
By all means keep reading! You will love How Charlaine Harris develops her characters. Her books are a great escapism mechanism. But if you ever decide you would like something with a harder edge, check out Laurell K. Hamilton's books. Her Anita Blake series is about gorgeous, secy and vicious vampires and shapeshifters and her Meridith series is about sexy, beautiful and strange faeries. Don't be fooled by the faeries - they are truly x-rated not the usual visions of a fairy. Laurell has a very vivid imagination.

I would have to agree with you on the LKH books....they are great! But back to the Sookie books....I really hope that they do not stray too far off from the books. It would really mess the plot up. There are so many things that have been left out already. They have changed characters around, And how are they going to bring out the part about her being part "Fairy" I really hope they stay true!!! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

By all means, keep reading. Many new wonderful characters and plots are introduced. So sorry you found out about Bill early on. He remains an important character throughout. I've read the entire series of books four times. Bill continues to be a favorite character. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm just getting to book 4. I kinda like the fact that there are distinct differences between the series and the books. But watching the series, when I read the books I can visualize the actors chosen for the roles. Make it that much more "real" - if you get my meaning... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Every year, in the first week of May, I celebrate my birthday. All my friends ask---"What the hell do you want for a gift? I don't know what to get you!!!" Every year I say the same thing over and over. "Get me the damn Sookie Stackhouse book! It comes out this week! Jesus, we went through this LAST YEAR! Starbucks and Vampires! Get me those two things and I will be a happy camper!!!" *sighs* I've read the entire series (several times) and all I can say is--read the books! Read The Books!! READ THE BOOKS!! Don't ask should I. Ask how many can you read in one weekend!! :+) Love Blood and Kisses 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I do think you should finish this series..Bill does have reasons behind their breakup. Personally I kinda think Sookie should forget and forgive, but you'll have to read the series to judge that for yourself! Also they introduce many other great characters and scenarios Read them!:) 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Up until From Dead to Worse I was praying Sookie would forgive and forget - but after #8, I might be changing my mind. Don't get me wrong, I still love Bill to death (haha), but Eric is really getting to me.. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

"If Charlaine Harris, the author of the books, is happy with how Alan Ball has envisioned the stories on the small screen I think that says it all.

Personally, I think that Alan has taken the series in a very good direction thus far and the books are awesome. Definitely read them!"
yes i so agree with this. i would understand the gripes and complaints about the show if Charlaine was not there on the set when the show was being created. yes they are diff in ways but keep reading youll like both.

Haven't seen episode three yet but I have picked up some spoilers on here unfortunately BUT while I don't like it, one thing my friend reminded me of is this. The books are mainly about Sookie and her life and interactions with others. The books aren't able to get into details about others and in the books there are a couple times where Sookie talks about Sam dating people but not knowing who SO reasonably it could be Tara.... SO while I am not too hot about it, it could happen. Do you find this valuable?

Geeze, it's about time someone said that. All this Bill swooning seems so strange. He's OK, but there's certainly better to come.
