"I've read those books numerous times and I cannot for the life of me remember a Maryanne. There was Maria Star Cooper, or maybe she was one of the were panthers. But that would be way too early in the series for either of those characters. She may just be a towns person friend of the Grandmothers. "
Well, then maybe my memory isn't really that bad after all, because I don't remember a Maryanne, either.

Anyway, she is being played by the woman who played the crazy Admiral Cain in the Battlestar Galactica series, so I don't think she is one of grandma's friends. She's young(ish) and quite pretty.

I agree I am in the middle of them now and I have not come across a maryanne yet, though my guess would be that since a lot of the other vamps like Pam and Chow are in for 3 episodes, she has something to do with Fangtasia or something of the like Do you find this valuable?

"You really need to keep reading them they are worth it. And as you read them you wont hate Bill you will understand the predicament he was in that resulted in his and Sookies falling out. The breakup isnt in just one book it slowly evolves through several books. I have read this series multiple times and enjoyed it over and over. I really liked Bill but I also really liked Eric and.....cant really say much more or it will spoil the series for you, just believe that right when you start to hate Bill you read something that makes you understand his actions."
I also just finished the first book and I know somewhat what happens later and I love love love Bill. Do you think there is a chance of salvation between himself and Sookie or do you think she is too into Quinn at this point? I read an extract of the eight book with an encounter between her and Bill and there still seems to be a spark between them.

I am reading the books and watching the series at the same time. I can see the show is very true to the book. I think the books make the series even more compelling since the characters become actual people you can see and even more closely identify with. I even like that Alan Ball included the Cajun Bayou accent to add authenticity in conjunction with the books. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I am starting All together Dead tonight. I was blown away by finding out about Sookie's other "special" talent. It made alot of things click into place for me. Something she inherited from her moms side of the family.

I really liked all together dead. Her and Eric become even closer and not just because of the blood. What did she pick up from her mothers side? I know she inherited a certain something special from her fathers side. In fact in book 8, she meets more of her "family". Do you find this valuable?

So far the show is true to the book. But I believe that will change with tomorrow nights episode. I'm not saying that the story line will change radically, just that things will be added that will change how things progress.

As for the cajun bayou accent, I've found it to have trickled over into the books. While reading them I can almost hear the accent in the dialog and to me if brings me right into the story.

"
Does anyone remember who Maryanne is? I've read all 8 books so fast that they are all blending together now, so I guess I'll have to go back and start over at a slower pace. In the meantime, I noticed a character named Maryanne on the IMDB cast list and I can't remember who she is.

?"
I forgot where I read this but I believe Maryanne is going to be the name of the Maenad, in the books I think she is Callisto but it's been changed on the show. Michelle Forbes is playing the part.

I could be wrong, just happened to remember it from somewhere though

I found a spoiler online that explained that Maryanne is Callisto, they just changed the name.

Oh no! I was hoping they would leave the Maenad out of the series. LOL! She really creeped me out.

I can see crazy Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) playing her, though.

I like it when Ms. Harris introduces other supernatural creatures to us through her books. And in the TV series it adds more spice to the plot.

Oh, me too! I don't have a problem with the vamps, the weres, shifters, witches, faeries, etc.... but the maenad gives me the squiks.

Yes she was so... ruthless. *shiver* So if they put the Maenad in, then are they going to put the scene where she... you know... gets her "tribute?" Cause I think that whole part with the "party" is a little risque even for HBO. I'll be impressed if they stick to it, though. I hate when movies & series get cold feet.

They may put it in anyway, I don't think she was conscious through most of the "party". She just heard not so subtle innuendo afterwards. It seems like that should be the same as when Bill saves her, we didn't know what he did to the Rattrays until the next day in either the book or series.

She was totally conscious throughout the party, but I wonder why they would move the party up when there are so many events that happen before "the party". The maenad doesn't come in until book two and the party is at then end of the book. We new Bill killed the Rattrays the same night sookie was attacked, we just didn't find out how imaginative Vampires really were.

Sorry, wasn't clear on which "party" I was referring to. I didn't mean the one at the end. I was referring to the treatment she received at fangtasia as a result of the Maenad's tribute. I guess I didn't read the post clearly the first time.
