  • EZ posting - Newbies jump inside Hi,

And welcome. This is a fast moving board. To make it easier on the new posters who are always jumping in from Lurkdom. (Lurkers, you know who you are), moderators come by regularly and clean up the boards. This is not to censor or control you. Do not be offended. This is just to make it easy for the hundreds of new posters this board receives daily.

Take a little time to get used to how to board works.

Look to the right under site pages. Read Before Posting: Discussion Forum Rules. I wish it were in red or something.

Then, look for the Location that bests suits you. There are a few ;) Bill fans on this board, jump on over to his location and join in on existing conversations.
There are sections for people who have read the books and openly wish to discuss them. There sections for viewers who wish ONLY to know what is presenting in the show. Please go to the Spoiler Free location. No spoiler of ANY kind allowed, except for what we have all seen in previews on HBO.

And, there is more. Chances are that no matter who you like or dislike, you will find a spot. Enjoy!

p.s. If you do not want to jump in on a thread with 100 posts, just look at the last few pages and you will be fine. No stress. I never read the whole thing either.

  • How long with the Blood run True? Has anyone wondered, Just how long will this great series last?

If I'm correct, Six feet under only lasted 5 years.

I also wonder just how long will Charlaine Harris continue writing about Sookie?

Personally, I love her books, but I'm hoping that they don't go down the same road as Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. (Don't even get me started on that one).

Regardless, I am looking forward to Season 3, 4, 5, and maybe 6. What about U?

  • NO Duplicate Threads! SEARCH first, please!
"I posted a question about Nan Flannigan. Then about 30 mins later somebody posted basically the same exact question right after mine. Now mine is locked yet the other remains intact.
Also,In the past I've gotten post deleted that were searched first and were not duplicates.
    Did I miss something?Am I doing something wrong? :\
    "
It is very rarely necessary to start a new thread. Rather than starting a new thread about a character already being discussed, you'll enjoy the forum more if you join one of those discussions already taking place and share your ideas with others.

Also keep in mind that threads are being moved - a lot of people are posting to the general area and then we have to move them to the correct section of the site.

Most aspects of the show and the characters have active threads already. If you do think you need to start a thread, please read the Forum Rules first.

    http://truebloodwiki.hbo.com/page/Read+Before+Posting%3A+Discussion+Forum+Rules

There are many reasons why a thread might be deleted or locked, but if you think yours has been closed in error, you can always ask the moderator to explain why.

  • SAME topics MANY threads???
"Rubyeuropa -- Thanks very much for your comments. If you click through the navigation you'll see that there are pages devoted to each of the characters, to differences between the books and the show, etc. Some threads do start on those pages, but the majority are starting in the Forum, where threads from those other pages also appear (you can see where a thread lives in the Location column of the Discussion Forum). "
I'm not sure what you mean, click through the navigation. Is there a specific nav button? Or was I unclear (which is most likely!)? I was talking about the Discussion Forum specifically, which is just one thread after the other; they aren't grouped by topic or anything. So I was wondering if the forum could be set up that way, with major categories (episodes, relationships, book versus show, miscellany, etc) and then all the discussion threads would fall under those categories only. Maybe that would help cut down on the numerous duplicate threads. (Kind of like how most message boards are set up; have you ever read the Survivor (and other shows) Sucks board? They use threaded boards, which makes for easier reading/finding threads of interest. Oh, and a question about this Discussion Forum. Is there a way that each time I sign on, I can go back to the point at where I left off? Now, I can never remember what threads I've posted in or read, so I end up reading every page of every thread, which is so time consuming. (I turned off the Watch this thread feature because that is way too unwieldy. If I don't check my emails at least every hour, by the end of the day I sometimes have over 100 watch-this-thread emails.) Or am I using this forum incorrectly/have my options set wrong?

No it won't. I made it at the right place. Under Bill Compton's page. The last thread RC made was under the discussion forum. Also, the last thread had some spelling mistakes(?) in the title- itchy hands RC? She was too excited.

  • what we do and do not know, and unfinished business, for book readers. Cryssforeric posted this on another thread but i copied it for her to know what ch says on her forum for discussion.
was reading through CH's web forum and came across. Don't know if it has already been posted, and sorry if it has, but this is the questions she answered from her 2008 Dead to Worse tour.

    1. Sookie will not become pregnant with a vampire - neither by magical nor chemical means.

    2. Sookie's readings of vampire minds is entirely random.

    3. She won't answer whether or not the blood bond with Eric will be weakened or destroyed.

    4. Eric will not be killed off.

    5. Although it is possible for Sookie to have a longer life-span with magic, it's not going to happen.

    6. Eric did start out as a minor character, and she decided to change that when she realized he was fun to write.

    7. She decided the exact character with whom Sookie would end up before she wrote LDID.

    8. Sookie exhibits "typical behavior" in wanting to work out painful things herself before sharing them with close friends, or at work.

    9. She doesn't know if Quinn's mother and sister will come back in later books - may even show up in Book 9.

    10. She hasn't decided how many books to write in the series.

    11. She hasn't decided yet at what point in the series Sookie will end up with The One.

    12. Not very much of Sookie's behavior in FDTW was the result of the blood bond. The clumsy break-up with Quinn was due to Sookie's inexperience in relationships.

    13. A sense of humor is very important.

    14. Lily might have another cameo.
i thought all of this would give a good start for a discussion.

  • Sam & Sookie
"Yep,you're absolutely right Sam Trammell is the perfect "Sam Merlotte",when i read the book i didn't imagine Sam other then a blond handsome guy as he is in the show.He really is was the perfect choice!!!!! So right:is like he walked out of the page and into the show! See you around!"
    Hi!
I just though I'd come by and see what is up! How are you?
    It's rainy & hazy here...
Perfect weather to stay inside and watch some True Blood or read some Sookie novels, right?

Well, I was over on the Speculations thread earlier, wading through the issues they were cooking up, and found an interesting post, which I responded to... because it was about Sam, of course...
It posed the idea that Sam could have a "turn" with Pam!! Yes, go ahead, laugh with me! LMAO!
No way SAM would be with a VAMP!
But it lead me to thinking about another issue we could discuss here -- the issues that
Sam has with vampires, and why he is so opposed to Sookie's relationship with Bill.
He 's never kept it a secret, and each and every time he is forced to deal with the issue, or sees Sookie and Bill together, it's like someone sent fingernails down a chalkboard, his whole body seems to tense up. So any ideas why Sam is so anti-vampire, beside the usual tension between the two races?
Is it only jealousy, because Sam could not bring himself to tell or show Sookie how he felt, before Bill came into her life?
When Sookie was going to Fangtasia with Bill, to try to find out about who killed Dawn and Maudette, he told her "Vampires only think about one thing: drinking... your... blood." Is that true?
Bill seems to want to have a romantic relationship with Sookie & protect her. Is that only for the Queen's edict?
Just thought I'd thrown some ideas out, and see if anyone wanted to tackle them! Have fun, and I'll check back later!

  • Investment in characters: waxing or waning
"First of all I really don't want to hear about your sexual awakening. Please keep this about the characters. Geez. And ick.

Second, Sookie is a very secure young lady, and I doubt she felt what you're describing that you felt. She knows how desirable she is, especially as she is privy to the thoughts of all the men she meets, and her grandmother did not raise her to be insecure. I think she was a little unsure of herself and how well she was doing with Bill, but then she is a) new to this kind of relationship and b) does not know what he thinks and wants to be sure - but unlike a neurotic and insecure person who would keep asking and drive their partner nuts, she accepted his assurance and that was the end of it. Quite unlike someone who would be nervous about rejection.

Third, there is such a thing as discussing the more adult parts of the show without becoming inappropriately graphic. I don't mind hearing about the sex in the show, as long as it is discussed respectfully. Please have enough respect for the rest of us here as to not subject us to what amounts to the equivalent of an obscene phone call or indecent exposure. I am quite sure that I am not alone in not wishing to observe some stranger's expression of arousal. There are other sites you can go to for that. "
    BettBee,

The show sets the tone for images, graphic, lewd, private and otherwise. I do feel it is perfectly appropriate to sing out loud and share your inner thoughts as this is a anonymous forum.

I think if the writers and directors choose to tell their story as is, then it is fine for us to discuss it on the same level. Which means we can use profanity and getting pretty detailed sexually. How is the show going to know how it touches people or has an impact on people if people do not share.

I daresay that much of what is shared on this bored will not be shared with a co-worker or friend. And, I really doubt if anyone will call or write HBO to tell them how exactly how a scene affected them.

I see posts all the time that I may or may not disagree with and I skip over them. But, I have trouble understanding why one poster's opinion is of more value than another's and unless someone is attacking someone else or being blatently rude or disrespectful, I see little reason to call them on it.

    This is HBO.
This show is very, very graphic in my opinion. And for me, sometimes it is too much, but my choice is to shut off the t.v. if I cannot handle it.

I love hearing the opinion of others. There is so much that is wonderful that we can share if we just allow others to do so. Debate is healthy.
