Any other vampire series books, an easy read?
Does anyone know of any other vampires series (books) that are an easy read? I've read the Anne Rice novels which I love, but don't consider them an easy read, if that makes any sense. I don't fly through reading them anyway as I did Charlaine Harris's vamp books. And I've read the Twilight series as well. I was looking for another series I could read and enjoy if anyone has any suggestions?

Bill and Sookie, Book or Series?
The books had more detail, which was great, but Bill in the series is much more romantic, and I prefer that. I'll gladly give up a bit of detail to have a more intense romance between Bill & Sookie.

Favorite Book in the series?
In reading through the spoiler threads, it seems as though many people have their own favorite book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries that they'd like to discuss so I thought I'd start a thread.
What is your favorite book in the series, why and what portions of that book do you want to see in the series?
For me, it's book 3 Club Dead -- I couldn't get to the next page quickly enough but I wanted to savor each new twist, turn and development. I thought this was a great book for Sookie because she rose to the occassion as needed and she didn't let her pride get in the way of doing the right thing. I got a huge kick out of Russell and the sexual tension between Alcide, Eric and Sookie was palpable.
Personally, I'd love to see this entire book used in the series, because I think everything in it is great story telling.

Books Vs Series
I have read 7 books now on Sookie...Where's Bill in all of them, remember one you LOVE so much. While Sookie is great, it's BILL the women LOVE...The Books are so very different than the Show. The only part of this Series I find annoying is how much is dedicated to this Maryanne, boring stuff. It's barely 3 chapters in the book....Eric, while gorgeous, is just NOT Bill!!!! <Laughing> Bring it on Bill.......

Anything Vampire
Okay, True Blood is over for the next 6 months. I doubt if HBO will run continuously the repeats of all 12 episodes (gosh darn it), the 8 books by Charlaine Harris I have read and now have to wait until next year for Book 9. Have read the Twilight Series twice and seen the movie. Have read the Black Dagger Brotherhood books (those are great) by JR Ward. So does anyone have an idea on how to get a vampire or werewolf fix for the next 6 months?

HBO Vampire Series 'True Blood' Renewed for Second Season
http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00018410.html
Going from 1.4 million in its first airing to 1.8 million in the second episode, "True Blood" will be renewed for a second season. The new HBO TV series about vampires living with human being, will get its second season production in 2009 in Los Angeles and its air date in summer that year.
President of Programming Group and West Coast Operations, Michael Lombardo said, "We are absolutely thrilled that the critics and our viewers have embraced TRUE BLOOD." He added a complimentary to the series' creator, saying "Alan Ball has done it again made an addictive series that is unlike any other."
"True Blood", starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, is based on the book by author Charlaine Harris called "Southern Vampire Mysteries". Lombardo continued, "I am thrilled to be able to continue to work with such a talented group of writers, cast and crew to explore the characters and world created by Charlaine Harris in her novels. It really is a joy to go to work every day and I couldn't be happier to be back home at HBO."

A Vampiric Milestone?
I love dark hair, blue or green eyes, and pale skin.... my ultimate dream guy (even above Bill or Jean Claude or Eric) is Roarke from the JD Robb series but he is not a vampire..hehehe
POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO READ THE BOOKS
Magick is introduced in later books BUT not as part of the vampires. Its a small addition to the plot relating to two other characters in the book.

Vampire Pam
I love Pam. In the books and in the series. She funny! She is one of my fav characters. She says and does some of the most unexpected things. Like reading Dear Abbey! Or when she says "Eric, maybe one of the waitresses at the bar will get pregnant and we'll get to go to a baby shower." , after Sookie explaining about wedding showers and baby showers. What vampire gets excited about stuff like that. It's comical. Oh, and how about sending Felicia, the bartender, to Merlotte's to identify herself to Sookie b/c she was involved in the deaths of the other bartenders. She is awesome. I love her.

What other book series would you like adapted to tv or the big screne
Other than the Charlaine Harris books I would LOVE to see Laurell K Hamilton's books made into a series. I would also like to see a good version of Salem's Lot made. I also wouldnt mind Dean Koontz Watchers to be remade!

Dead & Gone Book 9 of the Southern Vamp. Series
I think we are going to definately be seeing Hunter and the love triangle will continue until Harris decides to end the series. I also think the love triangle will be ended by one of the vampires dieing for Sookie also in the last book. Eric will shock himself by dieing for her and Bill will end up being her love. I don't think Bill or Sookie will be transformed by Great Grand Paw to make them more compatible though I'd like to see that happen. Bill doesn't seem to be a happy vampire. I think he would rather live a mortal life if given a choice.

How do you imagine the book series ending??
All good things must come to an end. So how will it end??? Here is my thoughts..... I imagine that something horrible will happen to Sookie, in another altercation of sorts, and this time it is dire, she is dying, and Bill is there, his heart is breaking, she is dying in his arms, he must make a choice... to let her die, or to turn her... She has expressed to him that she would never want to be a vampire and if she were to die, she would want them to just let her die... but he cannot bear to live without her, so her turns her in to Vampire. When she wakes, he feeds her, and she is angry.... she hates her new existence.... She decides that she wants to meet the sun.... and Bill decides to join her.... and they drive to the gulf coast, and wait on the beach until dawn.... holding each other.... and then... the sun rises....

Favorite Movie and TV Vampires
There are so many great ones and, they each have their place in the timeline of my life. Sometimes "when" something speaks to you is as important as "how." That said, some of my favorites:
Lestat, Louis and Gabrielle from the Interview with a Vampire books, but really only the first three and, definitely not as the movies had them.
The Lost Boys was one of my favorite vampire movies for years, but that may have had something to do with my (still) unabated crush on Jason Patric.
I absolutely adored the character of Marcus in the Blade television series. I think it was a completely underrated show. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the vampire characters were infinitely more interesting than the hero.
Buffy and Angel were (and still are) two of my all time favorite shows. Joss Whedon is a god. Some of the best writing that ever took place on television took place on those two shows.
I enjoyed watching Moonlight very much, but unfortunately it did not last long enough to really win that big a place in my heart.
As for other vampire movies . . . I agree with others about Innocent Blood. Wonderful comedic elements and I adore both Anne Parillaud and Anthony LaPaglia. I love Near Dark with Adrian Pasdar, Lance Henriksen and, Bill Paxton.
