"You are totally right -- these books totally focus on Sookie. The other characters only exist when they are in the presence of Sookie. The readers don't know anything else about them unless they are with Sookie. That's where the TV series differs and that is, according to interviews with Mr. Ball, the goal of the series; to give those secondary characters life and a full dimension. To me, that's why the series is so much more rich and developed. He's just using the books as a jumping off point. Good for us!!
I've only read books 1-5 but I don't remember if Bill ever tells Sookie he loves her. "
He tells her right after she finds out about Uncle Bartlette in book 1...

Sounds like there will not be a true love story there with Eric and Sookie.
He may "enchant" her, but I don't think Alan sees him as her real love... do you?
I hope AB gets through all of the dang books really fast so he can totally do his own thing!
He is bright, intelligent, clever, smart, astute, intellectual; gifted, talented, able, adept, skillful; elite, superior, first-class, first-rate, excellent!
And, those were just a few of the words I think describe him.....
" You said it, Eric is not Sookie's real love. He can trick her into taking her blood and fantasizing about him, but her and Bill seriously love each other (even though she apparently went brain dead for a couple minutes last night)

Since we are on a new thread I can't quote but I did want to say to Stacylynn that I can't quite agree on Sookie's age being the main factor in her behavior, because I was 25 myself just two years ago and by then I had already been married two years....now, I know Sookie is different because of her "gift" and she was a virgin, etc., but what is bothering some of us I guess is that even by Sookie standards, her behavior in the next episode looks to be especially bizarre and just...wrong. I'm thinking specifically about her looking lovingly into Sam's eyes and saying she could "see into his heart." GROSS -- before she kisses him. And her pronouncement that Bill is never coming back -- huh?
I'm of the mind that there is something big missing from this puzzle that we have absolutely NO clue about yet because HBO loves to try and outright trick people with their previews, they seem to want us to think Sookie "dumps Bill for Sam," but I think that is almost certainly NOT the case, something else is going on that we just can't predict because HBO has made sure the previews and promos give you no context for a lot of the stuff you see. IMO, at least...
