Hey ladies! I have a question... I'm a solitaire and am preparing for Saturday's Ostara. I am looking for a purification spell/chant. This last year was brutal, many deaths of loved ones close to me and bad news in general. I'm not sure if "purification" is the right word. Basically, I'm looking for a cleansing spell to remove the "negative" energy that has seemed to hang like a cloud over my family for the last year. I have a chant/spell written, but what offering would you suggest? Also, my 13 yr old son is interested in learning the craft. Can you suggest any type of offering or incantation to help bless this most special occasion in our home?
Thanks so much! If you can't post it here, feel free to pm me!
Blessed be!

"Welcome back Maharet! Hope you had a good time on vacation. These winter months for me in NY can be a bit claustrophobic- too cold to really get out and about much. So I hope you wre somewhere warm and cozy. I wonder...wouldn't it be cool for Bill & Eric et al to have a Vampire Vacation club along the lines of club med? But instead of fun in the sun they could go to locales that had long periods of night like Finland, Norway and the North Pole!" Or Alaska! I was on a Caribbean cruise with my favorite band, Barenaked Ladies. We went to Cozumel, Mexico and visited Ancient Mayan Ruins. Very, very cool. The weather turned chilly on the last 2 days (50s lol) But honestly it was more about the music. I am an Apollo's girl... love me some live music. Never mind that I cannot actually play an instrument. Dionysus was with us, as well. It's very hard to resist throwing your panties on stage when you have 2nd row seats in front of your personal Musical Gods. Eh, Morgy? :-9

"Yes, actually, a big one - the fact that vampires are not supposed to be visible in mirrors. That isn't true of modern mirrors, because they are no longer backed with silver. In the show, Bill says they created that myth as a way to cover themselves, and that's in direct conflict to standard lore. A silver-backed mirror is rare these days, and they are the ones that won't reflect a vampire. The idea that they can't be photographed also has to do with silver nitrate film. Digital photography would work just fine.
Bill talks about magick a little too much for my taste. I think maybe his character doesn't know the answer to a lot of Sookie's questions, so he uses the word magick as if there is no basis in nature for what they are. There is no such thing as unnatural or supernatural. Everything is a part of nature. Even magick - real magick - follows the physical laws of quantum mechanics. Just because it doesn't fit linear logic or Newtonian physics that doesn't mean there isn't logic to it. It just takes a broader understanding of how Nature works.
I'm a bit worried about the direction they might take where Witches are concerned. I didn't like the Gaia talk coming from Amy when she was so unable to empathize with the vampires. If you are aware that the planet is alive and conscious, you should be able to empathize with a sentient humanoid creature who feels pain and has his own will. Gaia consciousness is one of the most important concepts in our culture right now - our survival might depend on people understanding that our Mother Earth is a living, conscious, interactive being. I don't like seeing that reduced to a cliche about hippies. " Hellow my sister hope you are well. I think there are a lot of things out there that peopel don't know about I hope some day we can live in a world that all things can be seen .... You know what I mean.

Morgaine- When I was in my early 20's I used to consult and read rune stones for friends and myself. Although my friends informed me that I was giving them information which made sense and pertained to them, I wasn't sure and had stopped. Sometimes, I do 'know' things without knowing how I know, and several mediums have told me that I have the gift. I've recently bought myself a deck of Tarot cards at the suggestion of someone, and was told to start using them. Of course the deck came with a book, but I am not sure if I should go 'by the book' or should I pay for lessons in learning to read the cards. Which do you think is the wiser and more beneficial?
Also, several of my friends and I will be taking a 10 week witchclass in the beginning of the year. Any words of advice for a newbie?

"I would ask if you have had any vampire blood and if you have would you use that power in a good or evil way... please excuse my english... my french is better." I'm reminded of that scene from Lord of the Rings where Frodo offers the Elf Witch Galadriel the One Ring.... "All will LOVE me and DESPAIR...!" Muahahaha I would certainly use it for good. Or at least intend to. I'd like to think that I have the willpower and the knowledge of right and wrong that I would not somehow be consumed by power. However, there's a lot of crossover mythology out there already that kind of suggests if you actually *became* a vampire you'd lose your Witchy powers. That's kind of a bummer. I'll tell you one thing, I'd at least have better manners and fashion sense than Hallow in Dead as a Doornail!
