Chapter One

"Uh oh." Bill said as he stared at his laptop. Bill had become a computer whiz in the last several months, even setting up a vampire database for the Queen of Louisiana. Then she died and now Sookie guessed the King of Louisiana owned it and Bill and even her.

"Bill! You know I hate when you say Uh Oh. It’s not natural for a vampire to say Uh Oh." She walked up behind him to read what was on the computer screen when he shut it before she could.

"What kind of secrets are you keeping from me now, Bill Compton? What requires an Uh Oh from you? Is it Eric?" The last time she heard Bill say Uh Oh was the first time she met Eric at Fangtasia and he had summoned Bill and her over to him.

"Uh, no actually. It was from the King’s squire."

"Squire? What is a squire?" Sometimes she just didn’t understand his English. He spoke English but some of the phrases were so old she just didn’t know what he was getting at.

"Um...assistant or secretary, I guess. I have to go to New York and I have to leave tonight. I hope you’re not put out about this." He turned around in his chair and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"New York! Why do you have to go to New York?" She was put out. She hated the fact that Eric and King DeCastro were always bossing Bill around and sending him all over the country and away from her.

"It’s a trade show. I have to go and try to sell the database there. The King seems to think New York would be an excellent place to make a lot of money. So many people and I think it has the biggest population of vampires in the United States." She looked down into those blue eyes and found it hard to be angry with him. She sighed.

"You can always come with me." He leaned his head against her stomach and she stroked his hair.

"No, I can’t, Bill. I’ve got work and Sam is short two people this week already unless he can find someone to cover Arlene’s shifts. How long do you think you’ll be gone?" She held her breath.

"Oh no more than a week to 10 days at the most. Are you sure?" He looked at her knowing full well what those eyes did to her. Her heart started to flutter and she got all warm inside.

"No, I’m sure. I wish I could, but no I can’t do that to Sam. He’s been real good to me." Bill raised his eyebrows at that and turned back to his computer, but didn’t open it. She started up the stairs hoping he would follow and they could forget about all this, but he picked up his phone and she heard him calling the airlines. She went into the bathroom and turned on the water to fill the tub. Sitting on the edge watching the water fill, she wished life with a vampire could be a little easier. Everything about it was so complicated. Not the kind of life she had envisioned for herself growing up. Not the kind of life she remembered her parents or grandparents or anyone’s parents living. Suddenly, Bill was in the bathroom with no clothes on and she started to giggle. He pulled her up from her seat and undressed her. Usually he just ripped the clothes off her body but they had had a talk about that and he promised he would try and be more careful. He was buying her new clothes once a week at the rate he was ripping them off her body and she wasn’t happy about it.

They got into the tub together and sat facing each other. Bill gave Sookie a foot massage and she just lay back with her head against the back of the tub. She was so tired. She felt his hands move up her calves, to her thighs. She smiled when he reached between her legs and massaged her mound. That was relaxing! She groaned with the desire he was awakening in her body. He certainly knew which buttons to push to make her putty in his hands. Then she was in his arms and he carried her to the bed. He had laid a towel on the bed earlier and put her down on it, wrapping it around her. He kneeled in front of her drying her off and she noticed he had an erection. Sookie leaned down to kiss him and stroke him and he pushed her back on the bed. As he crawled onto the bed with her she pushed him on his back.

"My turn." She said, hoarsely. She straddled his body with her thighs and he reached up and stroked her breasts. As he pulled lightly on her nipples, she felt herself getting very wet. She slid his cock between her lower lips and just let it slide right inside of her. She sat all the way down to allow him to fill her up. He arched his back, pushing his hips up to aid in filling her. She leaned forward and started to undulate her hips. Bill’s fangs were fully extended and gleaming in the lamp light. She licked at his lips and then his fangs. This was one of Bill’s favorite things and he growled deep in his chest. Wrapping his arms around her he twisted so that she was on my back and he was on top. She laughed and he bent his head down grazing her neck and collarbone with the point of his fangs. He left red marks, but she felt like they were marks of honor. As he pumped his cock into her, she lifted both her legs to give him deeper entrance. He bit her ankle and began to suck. She gasped in surprise when he bit her and groaned with desire. The sucking just made all the sensations in her body come more to the forefront. Her body tingled with the desire.
He licked the wound to stop the bleeding and held her thighs as he pumped harder and faster. She was just about to go over the edge, when his body went rigid with his own climax.

"Don’t stop now!" She threatened. He groaned as he finished and slid his fingers down across her nub. She whimpered as he pinched and pulled and she screamed in ecstacy. He let her body drop to the bed and lay down beside her.

"I have to pack, Sookie. You rest and I’ll wake you before I leave." He kissed her head and covered her. She heard him pad out of the room and she descended into a well needed sleep.

It was still dark when Bill woke her. He was sitting on the edge of the bed fully dressed.

"Sookie. I’m leaving. I will call you tomorrow evening before I go to the SupeCon." He leaned over and kissed her lips. She opened one eye and smiled.

"Okay. Be safe." She was too tired to continue the conversation. She turned over and went back to sleep.

Bill got up, picking up his bag and went outside to the car. Throwing his bag on the back seat, he got in the driver’s side and drove off. A million thoughts swarmed around in his head as he drove to the airport. He was still wondering if he and Sookie were right for each other. He knew he loved her, of that he had no doubt. But sometimes she tried his nerves. He knew that it was not easy for a mortal to be with a vampire. The differences were astronomical, but it could be done with a little give and take on both sides. Sookie was certainly easy on the take and very hard on the give. Then he felt badly about leaving her alone. She always managed to get into some kind of trouble when he was gone. He had even caught her kissing Sam, her shifter boss when he returned from the tribunal. He knew she was a child in a woman’s body and he smiled when he thought about her body.

He also thought about the trade show where he was being forced to go and sell his vampire database. He hated this part of the job, he felt it was so beneath him. Why couldn’t they get someone else to stand at those stupid tables, talking to those inane people, hawking his work. The work he loved, even the traveling and interviewing people was fun. But standing around like he was in a circus was hateful to him and he felt his fangs pushing out of his gums at the thought.

He pulled into a parking space and grabbed his bag out of the back before heading to his flight. He was booked on Anubis Air as usual and was staying at the "Bloody Fangs", a subsidiary of the Hilton Hotel chain. He had heard it was a nice vampire hotel and they had a really hot nightclub in the lobby. Something along the lines of Fangtasia, but New York did it bigger and more flamboyantly than Louisiana. Well, hopefully he’d have some time to check it out. He needed to relax with his own kind sometimes. Mortals strained all of his senses.

Since he was taking the red eye and it was a short flight, he could sit in a seat and not be hidden in cargo in a coffin. He heard the hotel had all the accommodations a vampire could want or need. Light tight spaces to sleep in, or coffins if you preferred. Even rooms that were light tight with black out curtains for the vamp who would rather sleep in a bed. They served several grades of True Blood and of course had human donors if requested. Bill sat back in his seat and just zoned out until they reached John F. Kennedy airport.

A small man dressed as a chauffeur was waiting at the gate holding a sign that read "Bill Compton" in large black letters. Bill walked over to the man and noticed he was human.

"I’m Bill Compton," he said and nodded at the man. The little man was extremely nervous and Bill smirked as he followed him to the car. Bill got into the back and quietly enjoyed the ride to the hotel. It had been a long time since he’d been in New York. A lot had changed. He noticed the driver kept sneaking looks into his rear view mirror. He thought if he made too fast a move, the man would probably die of a heart attack. The thought made him smile. He thought of Sookie scolding him for being so cold blooded, but he was a vampire and he was cold blooded. That was his nature.
They arrived at the hotel and the car pulled inside the building at the back. The door was opened and Bill got out and handed his bag to the porter. He sensed the large man handling the bags was not human, but not vampire either. He smelled like wet dog. He guessed there would be a large mix of the supernatural at this convention. He entered the hotel lobby to the left and went up to the front desk to check in. The girl behind the desk was dressed in a very Goth ensemble. He knew she was not a vampire, she was human. Her eyes widened when she saw Bill approach and she licked her lips. Bill had that effect on women, all women, but he was usually very choosey about the women he spent time with. He had not spent a lot of time with humans until he moved back to Bon Temps. And one other time. A time he did not wish to remember.

The woman behind the desk made sure to touch his hand as she handed him his room access card. He smiled at her and headed to the elevators. He knew the convention would start that evening and since he could sense the sun was making an appearance in the sky, he needed to sleep. He entered his room and found his bag was already there at the foot of his bed. Whoever had booked the room for him had apparently requested a bed and not a space or coffin. He didn’t really care as long as it was dark and safe. He checked around the room and when it passed his inspection, he undressed and got into bed. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow.

Chapter Two

Bill opened his eyes just as darkness descended on the Big Apple. He stretched and got up, walking over to the mini bar and reached for a bottle of True Blood. He put it in the microwave provided and looked in the mirror over the bureau. "Who are you, Bill Compton?" he thought until the "ding" of the microwave brought him back from his thoughts. He shook the bottle and took a long swig. He was hungry, but this would have to suffice. Maybe later he would be lucky enough to find someone to share a drink with. He chuckled as he thought of sucking the blood from a stranger. Someone who was willing and who he did not have to be gentle with. Sometimes he just wanted to let his nature lead; to feel someone squirm beneath his grasp and cry out from the pain of the bite. He wasn’t evil, but it was tiring trying to keep up the front of being a gentile southerner. Of course that’s who he had started out as 173 years ago. That Bill was lost after so many years of Lorena’s tutelage and now he guessed he was trying to find him again. To make Sookie happy? Or himself? He shook his head to scatter the uncomfortable thoughts and dressed for his appearance downstairs. Sookie. He had to call her. He had promised. The phone rang twice and the answering machine picked up. He left a brief message telling her he had arrived and he was fine. He told her to call him back.

As he entered the convention room, he scanned it looking for someone familiar. He thought he might see someone he knew from a time past. He spotted his table and headed for it. There was a young girl setting it up and he introduced himself. She was vampire.

"Bill Compton", he said in a businesslike manner. Vampires do not shake hands. She looked up. She was very young and very beautiful. She did not smile at him, but scanned his body without shame.

"Elena. I’m here to assist you." She returned to setting the table up to look attractive. Bill put his laptop on the table and his case of databases. He stepped behind the table near Elena and sniffed. She was not very friendly and kept her distance. There were only vendors in the room as the doors had not opened to the public yet. Bill set up his wares, but already felt restless and bored. He could not wait until the night was over. You could hear activity coming from the next room. Sounded like music and partying. "Must be the club", he thought. He made a mental note to pop his head in there later in the evening.

The doors opened and a large mix of people walked into the room. There were a lot of humans; most of them probably just curious and not wanting to buy anything. There were more vampires than anything else and he also sensed other supernatural beings. There were Shifters and Weres that joined the mix. Everyone milled around looking at all the tables and after a few minutes Bill was busy faking Southern charm to try to make a sale. Elena was quite helpful bagging his sales and making change or ringing up a credit card sale, while Bill played salesman. Drinks and snacks were served throughout the night in the room and people milled around chatting as well as shopping.

Then Bill felt a sensation he couldn’t quite name. He looked up and saw her enter the room, she seemed slightly confused as to which way to go. She was tall and slim with short dark hair and dark eyes. There was an aura around her that got his senses tingling, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was exactly. She wore all black, but not in a Goth way; more like a sophisticated New York way. She was dressed well, but not expensively. As she looked in his direction, she stopped walking and you could feel the crowd part with the electricity that shot between them. She walked in his direction, staring down at the floor, seemingly flustered. She stopped at the table next to his and he guessed it was a ruse to show she wasn’t interested, but he felt her tension and her blood rushing through her veins. He fought to keep his fangs in when they wanted so badly to expose themselves.

As she stepped over to his table, still keeping her eyes down, he felt her body tremble the closer she got to him. She picked up a disk and looked at it.

"Hello. I’m Bill Compton and you are?" He tried to keep his voice steady but he knew he felt what she was feeling inside. She glanced up at him quickly and lowered her eyes again. She cleared her throat before she spoke.

"Hi. My name is Delores D’Allesio. My friends call me D." She grinned, but didn’t look at him.

"I’m honored to make your acquaintance, D. May I call you that?" Bill was pulling out all the stops in the charms department and the southern accent didn’t hurt, he thought. She looked up at him and nodded her agreement.

"Where in the south are you from, Mr. Compton?" She asked, genuinely interested, but also at a loss for intelligent words. His affect on her was something she had never encountered before. She was breathless and couldn’t look in his eyes. She wasn’t sure what he was, but was sure he was not human.

"I’m from Louisiana. May I assume you are a native of New York? And please, call me Bill."

"Yes, I’m definitely a New Yorker." She laughed at that and it was a very pleasant sound. Elena stood behind Bill with her arms across her chest, smirking. "Humans" she thought with distaste. "They are all the same when they meet a vampire."

Bill proceeded to explain the database to D and she followed with an unnatural interest. He found out she worked for a big software company who was interested in anything new on the market, even if it was something they could not use. This was something they definitely could not use, but Bill spent a very long time in his sales pitch, more because he did not want her to go.

There were other customers standing around trying to listen to the conversation and get some information. Bill didn't seem to be focusing on anyone but D. Finally Elena poked at him from behind and motioned for him to come over to her.

"Excuse me for a moment, will you? Don't leave, I'll be right back." He looked at D and she nodded, again not looking directly into his eyes. Elena moved close to Bill and whispered,

"You are spending too much time with that human woman. Your other customers are getting antsy." Her eyes were expressionless as she stared into his. He raised his eyebrows and questioned,

"Were you sent here as my assistant or my boss?" He moved in even closer to her. He could tell she was a very recent addition to the vampire community and she would have to follow him as he was older than she. She never flinched as they came practically nose to nose.

"I'm just telling you what is. You know your job, so I'm told." She turned and started putting more disks out onto the table. Bill snorted and turned back to where D had been standing. He found she was gone.

"Damn it!" he thought out loud. He scanned the room, but did not see her anywhere. He did not sense she was still there either. He wanted to strangle Elena, but thought he could use her to cover the table while he went on a little search. After waiting a few minutes to see if D returned, he pulled Elena over to the side.

"I need you to cover for me while I take a little break." She looked up at him as she extricated her arm from his grip.

"Going to look for the human?" She snarled.

"None of your business. Just do as I ask." He showed no anger. He turned and walked away from her. He walked around the room for a minute, looking for D. He had grabbed a bottle of already warmed up True Blood off a tray carried by a young Were and kept searching, but didn't feel her or see her anywhere. As he neared a fire exit, he stopped and listened. He heard something that didn't sound right and he felt waves of fear coming from outside the door. Putting his drink down on a table, he neared the door and just before he burst through it he heard D beg,
"Please don't hurt me. Take my purse, you can have everything in it." She was breathing heavily and the fear was coming off her. Then Bill heard a man's voice, very low and threatening,

"We don't want your purse, Sweetie. We want..." And with that Bill pushed the doors open and practically flew outside. In his vampire speed mode, he was able to ascertain the danger to D. There were three men cornering her in the alleyway. She was backed up against the brick wall and they had circled her. As quick as lightening, the men were flying through the air and all three were out cold on the ground. D looked up and saw Bill standing there nonplused. Not a hair out of place, but she did see his fangs! Bill noticed she was staring at him wide-eyed and breathing heavy. She was still quite frightened and he knew now he was the cause. He slowly moved closer to her, putting his hands out in front of him.

"Don't be afraid of me, D. I will not harm you. Are you okay?" He kept walking towards her and she seemed to be trying to push herself into the wall.

"D. Really. Calm down and tell me if you are hurt. Do you need a doctor?" He sounded truly concerned and she looked down at herself to see if she were okay. Looking back up at him, she barely got the words out of her mouth.

"I'm.. uh, okay. They didn't hurt me really. They didn't have a chance." Bill could see there were tears forming in her eyes and she was holding her left wrist with her right hand. He gently pulled her hand off of her wrist to see if she was hurt. Her wrist was red and slightly bruised. He lifted it and kissed around the mark. She tried to pull away but he wouldn't let go.

"Please! Don't bite me. Let me go." He looked up at her and she could've have sworn she saw pain cross his eyes.

"I'm not going to bite you. I'm sorry if I frightened you." He bowed his head as he allowed her hand to drop to her side.

"You're a...." She took a deep breath, but didn't finish the thought.

"Vampire. Yes." He finished it for her.

"Let me get you a taxi. You probably want to go." Bill motioned for her to follow him, but she didn't move. He turned back to her with a perplexed look on his face.

"I'm sorry. You saved me from......that!" She pointed at the three thugs laying on the ground.

"I should be grateful. Can I buy you a drink? or something?" She was favoring her hurt wrist and Bill noticed her hands were shaking slightly.

"Okay. We should get some ice on that wrist also. Would you like to try the fang bar here or?" D moved toward him and they both walked into the bar.

The bar was rocking when they walked in. Loud music filled the air and there were so many people. All kinds of people. It seemed all the workers were vampires, but the patrons were mixed. There were quite a number of humans here too. Humans were very intrigued by the supernatural world and would always frequent these sorts of places. The excitement of something different was the draw. A pretty blond came over and ogled Bill. As she got closer, she said with a slight accent,

"Good Evening, Mr. Compton. So nice to see you again. It's been a very long time." She was dressed in some sort of get up you would wear to a Halloween party. D guessed it helped with business to dress like that. It was kind of over the top.

"Good Evening, Janna. Good to see you again. You are looking quite lovely tonight." He smiled and Janna's fangs began to descend. D stepped back slightly and Bill caught her hand.

"Do you think you could find us a table and maybe some ice for my friend here. She seems to have hurt her wrist." Bill ignored the fangs on Janna and smiled. Janna nodded her head and turned to lead them to a table. They sat and Janna spoke to a good looking waiter, dressed in leather pants and vest with no shirt on; pointing to Bill and D's table. The waiter nodded and disappeared. He returned a moment later with an ice pack, which he handed to D. Bill intercepted it and took D's hand very gently placing it on the table. He wrapped the ice pack around her wrist and noticed her hands were still shaking. He ignored it.

"I'll have an 0 neg True Blood and the lady..?" Bill looked at D.

"Um. I'll have a Screwdriver, please." She pulled her hand out of Bill's grip and placed her trembling hands in her lap. The waiter left.

"So I guess you have never interacted with vampires?" Bill asked, feeling D's discomfort. She looked up at him and got caught up in those blue eyes. Their eyes locked for a minute and D couldn't speak. Then she blinked.

"Uh, I'm not really sure. I think the guy that cleans my office at night is a vampire and one of my neighbors says the guy above her is a vampire. I'm sure there are lots of you in the city, but it's so big it's hard to keep track. I've never been in a vampire bar before although I have some friends who go all the time." She looked down and felt confused and embarrassed by her answer. She didn't really know why, but felt she was being judged. The drinks came and she felt better having something to do with her hands, along with something to calm her nerves. Bill made her extremely self conscious which was really unusual for her. She usually was very self confident and had no problem being with a man. But she guessed it was because he wasn't just a man; he was a vampire. Bill drank as she spoke. He wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying, so much as feeling her heart beat across the table and feeling arousal in his loins just being near her.

They stayed at the table for quite a while talking. She became quite comfortable in Bill’s company after a few drinks. He felt her loosen up and noticed she laughed a lot when she was comfortable. He liked that.

"Don't you have to go back to work?" She asked, not really wanting him to leave.

"Actually, now that you mention it. Would you mind if I went to see how Elena is doing? I'll be back in a minute." He waited for her answer and she nodded. He left and she ordered another drink. She thought she had definitely had more than enough to drink. She felt very tipsy. As Bill walked back into the bar her heart started to race and she felt very warm. Most of the women in the bar looked at him as he walked towards her. From what she could tell though, he only had eyes for her. She tried, but she couldn't take her eyes off of him either.

She stood as he approached and he took her hand in his. She wobbled a little from the liquor she had consumed and he put his other arm around her waist to keep her steady. She giggled and Bill smiled. He didn't particularly like the smell of alcohol, but he would deal with it. He wanted to be with D. Intimately! She stepped closer to him and put one hand on his chest.

"Are you okay?" He asked with concern showing in his eyes.

"Were you planning on going somewhere?"

"No. I... just" she was at a loss for words, lost somewhere in his eyes. D leaned against Bill and he held her close. She rubbed her cheek against his and breathed deeply. He smelled so good and she closed her eyes. Bill had an erection and decided to take her up to his room. Elena had closed the table and left, so he supposed he was done for the night. He started to walk with his arm still around her and she followed him willingly. He thought about what he wanted to do to her and his fangs began to show. He hadn't glamoured her and wouldn't. That was one thing he didn't like doing unless he felt threatened. If she didn't want to be with him on her own, then he wouldn't force her. Not her. Although he did feel at this point he was a little too far gone to stop himself if she changed her mind. He hoped she did not.

They got to the elevator and he let go of her as he pushed the call button. She didn't seem to be able to stand on her own and started to laugh. He looked at her quizzically, as he grabbed at her to stop her from falling over.

"I'm sorry. I think I've had too much to drink. I need to sit down." She continued to laugh.

"Are you going to be ill?" Bill hated when humans were sick.

"No, I don't think so." She leaned into him again, this time feeling his erection push against her. She gasped at the feel of it and thought that she was going to get lucky. This made her giggle again.

"Okay, let's go to my room and I'll order you some coffee. Is that acceptable?" The elevator doors opened and he stepped in with D beside him. He leaned her up against the wall holding her steady with one hand as he punched the button for his floor with the other. D reached out and caught Bill by his lapels, pulling him closer. She licked her lips and he licked his. Her hand grabbed some of his hair on the back of his head and pulled him even closer, pressing her lips against his. He responded in kind. She felt his tongue slide between her lips and she opened her mouth to receive it. She then felt him grind his hardness against her and she pushed into him. A flicker of fear shot through her as she felt his fangs extend and cut her lip, but his hands made her forget all about it. They were all over her body seemingly at once. The elevator doors opened and Bill picked D up and carried her to his room.

Once the room door closed, D started to pull Bill's blazer off and unbutton his shirt. He pulled at her blouse, trying not to rip it to shreds. He went for her neck but stopped himself. The alcohol in her system might affect him adversely. He pushed away from her to go to the phone. She followed him running her hands up and down his bare back as he called room service for a pot of strong coffee. He hung up and turned towards her, pulling her skirt off and then her panties. He stepped back and admired her beauty. Her skin was almost as pale as his. She was tugging at his pants, trying to get them off of him when there was a knock at the door.

"Who the hell is it?" Bill yelled. Not now, he thought. D got his pants down and he stepped out of them.

"Room Service, Mr. Compton. Your coffee is here."

"Leave it at the door!" He hissed. D was on her knees giving his cock a good licking and he was going out of his mind. He wanted to get the coffee in her so he could feed on her, but he didn't want to move. He put his head back against the wall, while twisting his fingers through her hair. She was very adept at what she was doing and he knew he would soon climax. He groaned as her fingers found their way onto his balls and squeezed gently. "Oh God", he thought as he came. D sat back on the rug when she was done and wiped at her mouth with the back of her hand. She looked up at him expectantly and he gently caressed her cheek.

"Wait here". He said. Bill opened the door and looked to see if anyone was outside. No one was in sight. He pulled the cart into the room. He then pulled D to her feet and sat her on the bed. She was still all over him and it wasn’t like he couldn’t go another round, but he really wanted to sober her up a bit. He poured coffee in a cup and handed it to her.

"Drink, D. Then I will make you happy." She sipped at the hot coffee. She wanted to gulp it down, but it was still too hot. Bill went to the minibar and got a handful of ice cubes, which he threw in the pot of coffee to cool it. He also threw a few into her cup. She smiled at him like a little girl and drank as the heat of the coffee melted the ice. He poured her another cup and was watching her drink when his phone rang.

"Damn it!" He picked up the phone and saw it was Sookie.

"Excuse me a minute. I must take this call." He walked into the bathroom and shut the door. D got up from the bed and listened at the door to Bill speaking on the phone. Obviously from the conversation it was a wife or girlfriend. "Shit" she thought. Of course I wouldn’t be that lucky. When Bill came out of the bathroom, D was sitting on the bed and had finished her second cup. She was holding her head in her hands and the empty cup was on the floor. Bill kneeled in front of her.

"Are you ill? Talk to me, D." He gently pulled her hands away from her face and picked her face up so she would look at him.

"Was that your wife you were talking to?" She looked slightly pitiful. He smiled,

"No. I’m not married."

"Your girlfriend, then?" She wanted him to say no but he didn’t lie to her.

"Yes, my girlfriend." He thought about the way the word girlfriend felt on his tongue.

"In Louisiana?" She pressed on.

"Yes." He didn’t offer any further information. Just picked up her empty coffee cup and refilled it one more time.
"Here. Drink some more. How are you feeling now?" He held the cup for her and brought it to her lips. She was bowled over by how sweet he was, for a vampire. She had heard such terrifying stories from friends who had had sex with vampires. She knew Bill was different. She drank some coffee and got up to use the bathroom. When she returned Bill was lying on his back on the bed. She thought how beautiful he was. She moaned and crossed the room to join him in bed. Bill got on his knees and pulled her down on her back. He turned her over and began to nibble at the small of her back down her cheeks to her thighs. She shuddered with excitement.

"Get on your knees." He ordered and she obeyed. His hand reached under her and stroked her wetness. He slid one finger inside her and then another while his other hand stroked her breast. She moved her body with the same rhythm as his fingers working inside of her. Then he pulled them out and replaced them with his engorged sex organ. She moaned from the size of it. Bill started to pump her slowly, using long strokes in and out. Then he reached down and pulled her up so that her back was against his chest. This way he could easily touch her entire body.

His hands slid across her breasts, teasing her hard erect nipples down her smooth flat belly to the hairy, wet vee between her thighs. She sighed with pleasure at his touch and wrapped her arms around his neck. As she moved her head, he could see her neck, the arterial vein pulsing to the beat of her heart. She pulled his head down towards her neck. Should he resist? No and with as much control as he could muster not to rip her throat out, he sunk his fangs into that pulsing vein.

Her body became rigid as her skin was pierced, but she relaxed as he began to suck her blood slowly. As he sucked, his movements became faster and more demanding. She bent slightly from her waist, so he could move easier and faster. He removed his fangs from her neck and licked the wound to stop the blood flow. Now he rammed into her, holding her hips so she wouldn't move too far. She yelled and he did it again and again until they both screamed with orgasm. He fell over spent and she fell forward from exhaustion. He heard her laugh.

"Share the joke?" He looked at her, wondering what was so funny.

"No joke. I tend to get the giggles after really good sex. And that was awesome!" She laughed as she turned over onto her back and entwined her legs with his. He liked that she seemed comfortable with him and was no longer nervous. He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her body. He whispered in her ear.

"I will need to sleep shortly. I will not awaken until nightfall." She looked at him, guessing he wanted her to leave. She sat up and started collecting her clothing.

"Where are you going?" He asked her.

I figured you wanted to sleep, so I'd leave."

"You don't have to leave. I'd like you to stay, but I will be "dead" asleep. So you have the day to yourself, but I want to see you again tonight." He took her hand and pressed his lips to her palm. She got a chill up her spine and trembled.
"Yes." She said breathlessly. He pulled her back down with him and they slept.

D awoke later in the afternoon. Bill was "dead" asleep as he had said. She even poked him gently and he did not move. She realized he wasn't breathing, but remembered someone telling her that vampires don't breathe. She got up, showered and dressed. Before she left the room she found a note on the door. It said, "Take the extra access card if you need to leave. Come back to me tonight. Bill" This guy just made her shiver all over. He was hot, good-looking and quite a lover. The best she'd ever had in fact. She took the card, checking the door as she left. She noticed the hotel was pretty quiet as she walked through it and into the street to hail a cab. Since it wasn't a work day, she decided to go home and change her clothes. Sitting in the cab, she realized her entire body was sore from last night, but it was a good kind of pain. She pulled a mirror out of her purse and looked at her neck. "Whoa, those are some fang marks!" she thought. She dug in her purse for a scarf she always carried and wrapped it loosely around her neck to cover the puncture marks.

She arrived home, checked her messages and took her clothes off. She looked over her body to see if there were any more marks from lovemaking last night. The only other mark she noticed was the one on her wrist from that pig that grabbed her in the alleyway. She thought back to the way Bill had rescued her. It made her feel so special. It was like a romance novel. She decided to pack a very small bag with a few things before heading back to the hotel. A bag small enough not to look like she was moving in, but with enough stuff in case she needed to change her clothes again. She freshened her makeup and hair and chose a pair of tight jeans and a low-cut blouse to wear tonight with a pair of high heels. Before she left she got on her computer to get some generic information about vampires. Just so she'd know what she was in for tonight.

Chapter Three

Sookie was waiting on 2 obnoxious guys, when suddenly Merlotte's got very quiet. As she turned towards the silence, there stood Pam and Eric was walking towards her. Eric was dressed all in black, as usual, his blond hair shining and his eyes on Sookie. Pam waved at her and headed towards the bar. She waved back. Eric took her hand and walked out the back with her in tow. Sam stepped from behind the bar to intervene, but Pam got in his way.

"Heel, boy. He's not going to hurt her." She laughed at her own joke, but Sam didn't find it funny. He ran his hand through his hair and stepped back behind the bar.

"Give me an A- Blood, will you?" She smiled at Sam as she sat down, knowing he was chomping at the bit wanting to follow Eric and Sookie outside to see what was going on.

As the back door slammed, Eric turned Sookie to face him.

"So, Bill is out of town I hear." Eric did not let go of her hand as he spoke. Sookie was feeling all kinds of crazy emotions coming from him and it made her a little uncomfortable. She tried to pull her hand from his but he just tightened his grip.

"Yeah, he is. He's on business." She didn't want to say too much, not knowing how much Eric actually knew.

"Yes, I know. He's in New York playing salesman for the King." Eric said the word King with much distaste.

Okay, you know. Why are you here? And why did you drag me away from my work?" Eric loved when Sookie got feisty with him. It amused him that she wasn't afraid of him. But she shouldn't be, he would never hurt her. In fact, he had saved her quite a few times already. No, he was here for a different reason altogether. He grinned at her, his fangs showing.

"I have a little job for you. You will be paid, as usual." He knew the money meant a lot to her. After all she was human. She looked up at him and he felt a twinge in his stomach. "What the hell was that?", he wondered. "Damn humans."

"What kind of job? How dangerous is it?" She was always getting in trouble and hurt when she did a job for the vamps. With Bill not here, she wasn't too happy to run off and do a job for Eric. Although she had to admit to herself Eric had been there to protect her more times than Bill had. But that was just because Eric happened to be around at the time, she chided herself for even thinking these things.

"It's a simple one this time. There should be no danger and I will be there. To protect you as always." He loved throwing that up to her. Eric had taken bullets meant for her, twice. She swallowed hard out of nervousness and sighed.

"Where and when? I have to go back to work." She sighed again as she waited.

"Tonight at Fangtasia. I have a little vamp on vamp problem and I need you to sort it out for me."

"Eric, you know I can’t read vampire minds!" Sookie was getting testy and felt he was just playing with her.

"I know, Lover. There are a couple of new humans at the club and I suspect they know more than they are telling. You know I keep all dealings at my club legal and above board. There have been a few too many feedings there and I don’t want it to continue and jeopardize my profit margin."

"Okay, okay. I’ll be there after work. About 2am. Now I’ve gotta go." Sookie turned to leave and Eric was in front of her blocking her way quicker than she could bat an eyelash. She walked right into him and bounced backwards. He caught her before she fell, his arm sliding around her waist provocatively and pulling her close.

"There might even be a little bonus in it for you, if you do a good job." Eric was a sleaze, but for some reason that sentence got her hot and tingly. She pushed away from him and walked back to the bar without saying a word. She heard Eric yell,

"I’ll pick you up at 1:30, Lover." She walked inside the bar and let the door slam. Pam was still sitting at the bar guarding Sam. Sookie walked over to her.

"I think we’re done, Pam. I guess I’ll see you later." She kind of liked Pam in a "don’t get too close to that vampire" kind of way. Pam smiled and dropped some cash on the bar. She waved at Sookie and Sam as she left. The bar noise picked up as the door closed behind her. Sam came over to Sookie.

"Sookie? What’s going on now? What did he want?" He was like a mother hen clucking around his chicks. It was endearing at times, this was not one of those times.

"I have a job to do for him tonight, that’s all." She was already tired and just wanted to go home and go to bed. She stopped Sam before he said anything placing her hand on his lips.

"Sook. Do you want me to go with you?" He kissed her fingers and she pulled them away.

"No, Eric will be there. I’ll be safe." She hoped.

"Yeah, Eric will be there. That’s what I’m afraid of." Sam walked into his office and slammed the door.

Eric was waiting for Sookie in the back parking lot of Merlotte's at 1:30 when she got off work. She was aware she was till in her uniform, black shorts and white t shirt, and thought maybe Eric would swing by her house to let her change. She walked over to his red corvette.

"Can I go home and change first?" She leaned in the car as she spoke.

"Well, good evening to you too Sookie. And no you cannot. Get in." Sookie emitted an exasperated sigh and walked to the passenger side of his car. As she got in, she asked,

"Why can't I drive myself to Fangtasia and why can't I go home and change?" She slammed the door closed and Eric gave her a look of disapproval. He tossed some clothes at her.

"Here. Pam chose these for you so they should be fine. I am driving because it's one of the perks of the job." He smirked as Sookie just stared at the clothes in her lap. Pam was good, she'd give her that. They looked the right size and the right look as well.

"Why are you not changing, Lover?" Eric glanced at Sookie and she looked at him like he was crazy.

"Change where? Can't it wait til we get to the club? You don't even have a back seat for me to crawl into!" She was whining and Eric was trying not to gnash his teeth together from the sound.

"You may change right where you are. It's not like I haven't seen it all before. You told me I did. And I enjoyed it as well." Eric smiled and his fangs were exposed. Sookie wanted to slap him, but hitting a vampire would be like slapping a brick wall. They didn't feel it and ultimately she would end up hurting herself. She looked at him again and then turned her back to him. It was very late and he was driving too fast for anyone else to really get a good look at what she was doing. She pulled her t shirt over her head and slid on the red shirt Pam had picked out. She felt Eric's stare on her back.

"Keep your eyes on the road, please." She told him without looking at him.

She kicked off her sneakers and slid her shorts down and off her body. Eric's big cold hand stroked her thigh, trying to slide between, but she caught it just in time and put it back on the steering wheel.

"And your hands on the wheel!" She gave him a stern look as she slid the jeans up and on. She buttoned them and they were a perfect fit. Eric just laughed out loud.

They finally pulled into the parking lot at Fangtasia and Eric sped around the side of the car to open the door for Sookie. He took her hand to help her up and out of the low seat. Then roughly pulled her close.

"I thought you were in a hurry." She practically choked the words out. Sookie had to admit, at least to herself, that Eric did something to her libido. He was big, strong and very handsome. The Viking part was extremely hot and Eric was very different from Bill. Much more aggressive, which was kind of nice as a change of pace. Sookie came back down to Earth. She pushed out of his arms. Of course, if Eric didn't want to let go, she'd never be able to get away from him. So she was grateful that he really wasn't forcing himself upon her. They walked into the club and Eric pointed Sookie to a bar stool as he walked over to Pam. Pam smiled at Sookie and Sookie smiled back. The new bartender asked her if she wanted anything and she shook her head. She needed a clear head for the job at hand, but maybe later she would have a nightcap to relax. Eric returned to her and asked,

"Lover, how close to a human do you actually have to be to hear their thoughts?"

"The closer the better, why?"

"I would prefer to keep you out of sight, if I can. Less danger that way. Remember Longshadow?"

Please don't remind me. Let's try it." She followed Eric into a back room. She could hear voices in the next room. Some thoughts being spoken aloud and some not. She listened intently, while Eric stood against the door, just staring. At her or into space? She didn't know. She tried to ignore him so she could concentrate on what she was hearing. Nothing was being said aloud that would incriminate anyone, but the thoughts of one person sounded bad. There were at least four humans in the next room. She looked at Eric and put up 4 fingers. He made a motion with his hands to show her that they were playing cards. She nodded. She didn't get any sense that there were any vamps in the room. If there were she usually got sort of a blank space where the vamps thoughts should be. No, it was just the four humans.

She walked over to where Eric was standing and he bent down putting his ear near her mouth. She whispered in his ear that she heard one man thinking about the money he had received from Jamal. It was payoff money and he had it in his locker. He had come across Jamal and Nadine feeding and they were paying him off to keep his mouth shut. He figured this could be a very lucrative business, he just had to keep his eyes open and his mouth shut. He hadn't told anyone, not even his girlfriend.

Eric nodded his understanding and kissed her on the mouth. Then he was gone. She was so taken aback by the kiss, that she followed after him, except not as fast. As she walked through the hallway and headed towards the bar, she felt two cold hands grab her from behind. One hand covered her mouth and she heard someone hiss in her ear,

"Don’t move or I will rip your throat out right here! She nodded her understanding and she was pushed forward her arms being held by those ice cold hands. As they approached the bar, the bartender disappeared. They kept walking. Eric appeared in front of them blocking their way.

"Nadine!" He bellowed.

"Let her go unharmed and we can talk."

"Talk?" She snarled at him.

"Vampires don’t talk, Northman. Are you a human now?" She laughed and pushed Sookie ahead.

"Get out of my way or with one swipe I will have the human’s jugular dangling out of her neck." She said it with such glee that Sookie thought she would pee on herself out of fear. Eric never took his eyes off of Nadine, but Sookie thought she saw a minute flicker in his eyes. Behind Nadine she felt a second silent mind approach. She hoped it was help. Several things happened at once and Sookie wasn’t exactly sure what they were. She found herself in Eric’s arms and when she looked at where she had been standing a moment ago, Pam had decapitated Nadine and her head was rolling across the floor. Pam was holding a bloody sword and had a delighted look on her face. She looked at Eric for some kind of reaction and he nodded his head. They both looked at Sookie who had fainted as Eric cradled her.

Chapter Four

When Sookie opened her eyes, feeling cold hands on her she remembered being held by Nadine. She started to jump up when Eric caught her by her arm and stopped her.
"Sookie. It’s okay. You are safe. Relax, Lover." Sookie saw she was lying on Eric’s couch in his office and Eric was kneeling beside her on the floor. The way he said her name was so soft and so unlike Eric that she stared at him to be sure it was him.

"Eric?"

"Yes?"

"What happened?" She started to cry from fear and relief and Eric took her very lovingly in his arms and stroked her back.

"It’s okay, Sookie. You are not hurt. I checked." He smiled at her and she laughed through her tears. He explained that Nadine had grabbed her and threatened her and Pam had saved her by beheading her captor. Jamal had been caught by the bartender and the human was being held as well.

"What did you do with the human?" She asked, hoping he would turn him over to the human authorities like she requested at least a million times.

"Nothing. Yet." That was all he said. He helped her to sit up and moved away to pick up a glass off of his desk. He handed it to her.

"What is it?" She asked him.

"Your usual. Gin and Tonic." He said and sat behind his desk, putting his feet up. He leaned back with his hands clasped in his lap. He didn’t take his eyes off Sookie. She sipped her drink and then put the glass down. She was beginning to calm down. There was a knock on the door.

"Enter." Eric still looked at Sookie. Pam entered the office and nodded in Eric’s direction.

"Everything is taken care of, Master. How do you feel Sookie?" She looked genuinely concerned, which was a lot for Pam.

"I’m okay, I guess. I suppose thanks are in order, Pam. Thank you for saving my life." Sookie was on the edge of tears again. Pam waved away the emotion.

"It was my Master’s wish. And you are kind of fun to have around." She chuckled as she left the office. Eric got up then and walked to the door. He locked it and leaned back against it. His hands were at his side and his fangs were out. His eyes were still on Sookie.

"Eric. Eric, please don’t." She knew what he was up to without reading his mind. All she had to do was read the bulge in his pants.

"Sookie." He said it so low she almost didn’t hear it. He started towards her very slowly. She swallowed hard, but didn’t move.

"Sookie help me remember what we once had. Show me how wonderful it once was." He had taken his shirt off and was working at his belt. Sookie didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know if he would let her go now even if she begged.

"Eric. You can’t possibly do this if I don’t want it. You wouldn’t force me, would you?" She was very aroused, but still trying to talk her way out of this. Even though she and Eric had been together and it had been wonderful, Eric wasn’t the same person he was then. She loved Bill and felt very guilty. She thought, "I love Bill. I love Bill. I love Bill." Eric was on his knees in front of her, kissing her face and her neck, nibbling her ear. She put her hands up to stop him and ended up throwing her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his. He lifted her off the couch, kissing her deeply and passionately. She was crazy with desire as he sat her on his desk. He discarded his pants and apparently wore no shorts. His erection was huge, just as she had remembered it. She shifted on the desk, her wetness seeping through her panties onto the wood. Eric reached down and slid her pants and panties off in one swift motion. Sookie gasped. He pulled her to the edge of the desk and leaned her back, pulling her legs up and wrapping them around his waist.

Using his fingers, he checked her wetness. He slid his fingers around her nub and inside her essence. His eyes had turned black and they were glowing. He shoved his fingers inside as far as he could and pulled them out. He did this again and again and Sookie leaned back on her elbows and moaned. Removing his fingers and sucking them clean, he rammed her with his cock. He was so big she yelled as he pushed at her. He saw her arms were starting to tremble with the force of his pounding, so he lifted her off the desk and put her back against the wall. He held her under her ass and slammed into her over and over again. Her fingernails dug into his shoulders with each blow she took, drawing blood from him. In his frenzy he noticed the two puncture marks on the inside of her right thigh where Bill had fed from her. He pulled his still erect cock out of her and laid her on the rug. He was on his knees and with his fangs he reopened the old wounds and began to feed. Sookie took him into her mouth, tasting herself on him. She rolled her tongue around the tip of his member and he sucked harder. She sucked and slid her lips up and down the length of him until he stopped feeding and licked her thigh clean. He turned and entered her again roughly, this time fucking her as fast as he could. He roared as he climaxed and Sookie screamed his name. He smiled with victory. She screamed out Eric in her throes of ecstacy. He was very, very pleased.

Chapter Five

Bill turned over in the bed and felt an empty spot where D had been. He opened his eyes and looked around the room, but he was alone. He got up and got himself a bottle of True Blood, which he popped in the microwave. He saw that the access card for the door was gone and smiled. "She will be back," He thought to himself as he took the bottle into the bathroom with him. After showering and dressing Bill called Sookie, but there was no answer. He left a message and went downstairs to the convention.

The night passed slowly, even though Bill found his table packed with customers most of the night. He found himself constantly scanning the room for D. He had her blood so he would be able to sense her if she were there. There it is....That feeling, that sensation. Bill looked up and saw D across the room. She looked directly at him, then disappeared into the crowd. He stopped speaking and just looked around the room, his customer perplexed. Elena walked over and continued his spiel. Bill moved out of the way and saw her again. It looked like she was headed towards him. He watched and waited, but she was gone. He walked towards the elevator bank and it was deserted, but one elevator was in use. It stopped on the 18th floor. His floor.

He took the next elevator up.
As the elevator doors opened, he found his floor empty as well. Could he be mistaken? He thought for sure she had come this way. He walked to his room door and listened. He heard nothing, but he sensed a presence inside. He fumbled in his pocket for his access card and he opened the door. The room was dark but he could see a body lying on the bed. A naked body. His fangs descended and he flipped on the lamp by the door. D was lying on top of the comforter on the bed and she was completely naked.

"I’ve been waiting for you, Babe." She said seductively as she ran her hands over her body.

"I just saw you downstairs. Didn’t I?" He wasn’t sure anymore what he had seen, but he knew for sure what he was seeing now. He had an erection that was straining the fabric of his pants. D smiled.

"Did you?" She laughed and motioned for him to join her. At vampire speed he was stripped naked and on the bed next to her. They were entwined in each other’s arms and rolling around on the bed just feeling each
other’s nakedness.

"Were you teasing me?" Bill asked, looking at D a little confused. Most people did not tease vampires. D’s hands were all over him and he was enjoying every minute of it. He reached over to push her down so he could mount her, but she fought him, pushing him on his back. He allowed her this, he was curious. She pulled her scarf out from under the pillow and tied his wrists together above his head. Bill just stared at her, watching her every move with great interest. He knew he could get out of the knotted scarf, but wanted to see what she was going to do to him. His fangs and his cock throbbed for her.

"D? You didn’t answer my question."

"Yes, I was teasing you. Just like I’m going to do now. Are you enjoying it so far?" She smiled at him.

"So far." He said quite seriously.

"I knew you would follow me. I made sure you saw a glimpse of me."

"So sure of yourself?" This was a different D than he had encountered last night.

"No. So sure of you." She smiled again as she straddled his body. She leaned her face close to his and kissed his lips. He kissed her back, trying not to hurt her with his fangs. She licked his lips and bit them gently. He tried to grab at her, but realized she had tied the end of the scarf to the bed post. She gently pushed his head to the side and nibbled his ear and then ran her tongue down his neck. He was growling low in his chest and she enjoyed the sound very much. As she slid down his body she tasted him everywhere. She licked the underside of his arm and his armpit, then moved to his nipples. She tasted one then the other and then she bit him; hard. He groaned and she sucked. His body was bucking trying to simulate fucking her. He thought his cock would explode if she didn’t let him take her.

"D. Let me take you now. I need to be inside you, now." He was practically begging. She kissed his lips quickly and shook her head.

"Not yet, Bill. Soon, but not yet." She was killing him. He could get his hands free and take her, but he waited. Just a little longer. She moved further down his body, using her tongue as a guide. She reached his engorged manhood and swallowed as much of him as she could. He groaned out loud and arched his body up to meet her warm, wet mouth. She stroked him with her lips and tongue, taking in as much as she could and pulling back all the way. Her hands stroked his scrotum and pinched and squeezed, as his body writhed with pleasure and frustration.

"D! Don’t tease me anymore. I don’t know how much longer I can control myself. I.. I don’t want to hurt you." He was frantic. It took all the strength he could muster to stop himself from ripping the bed post apart and jumping on her. She looked up at him while her tongue moved to the inside of his thighs. She licked his balls and took one into her mouth. That did it. The splintering of the bedpost breaking off startled her and she stopped what she was doing. Her scarf was hanging off Bill’s wrists in shreds as he flung her roughly down on her back. He mounted her without any forewarning and rammed his manhood inside of her. She was wet and ready and she lifted her legs so he could gain deeper entrance. His eyes were as black as the night and he bent his face towards her neck. She moved her head to the side so he could feed from her. As his fangs pierced her skin she screamed and held him tighter to her. He pumped her body as he sucked her life force. Her fingers ripped at his skin leaving marks that would disappear within minutes. He picked his head up as they came and she screamed his name. She was still bleeding and he licking her neck to stop the flow. He moved off of her and they both just lay there spent and not speaking.
He leaned on one arm and looked at her. She kept her eyes closed, but smiled.

"I didn’t hurt you, did I? You were driving me insane." With one finger her stroked her body, between her breasts and down to her belly button. She sighed.

"No, you didn’t hurt me. I was trying to drive you insane. I’m glad it worked." She looked at him and saw something in his eyes she thought she would never see in a vampire. It could have been love, but..no...she had to be mistaken. His eyes were so blue. She closed her eyes again. Bill took her hand, kissing her palm and then pressing it to his groin. He was hard again.

"Shit, Bill. Already? You should bottle that!" She opened her eyes and saw the desire in his eyes this time. That was more like it. He chuckled, then squeezed her breasts. He took one nipple into his mouth and sucked very gently, making her get all wet again. She stroked his member as he pinched her nipples then slid his hand down to her wetness. His fingers slipped easily inside and he used his thumb to stroke her nub as his fingers slid in and out of her. She moaned and turned towards him, throwing one leg over his. He kissed her lips, biting gently, but drawing blood nonetheless. This turned his eyes black again. He stopped touching her and got off the bed.

"Where are you going?" She practically whimpered. He picked her up, placing his hands under ass and her back against the wall. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He began his rhythm slow and steady, sliding all the way in and all the way out. She grabbed a handful of his hair and pulled his head back roughly. She sucked on his neck, which made him pump harder and faster.

"Bite me." He whispered in her ear.

"I can’t. I.... don’t want to hurt you." She knew that sounded stupid after it came out of her mouth.

"It won’t hurt me. Bite me!" He insisted. She did and she drew blood. She licked at it delicately, then began to suck. It was a strange sensation and Bill began to pump her so hard she was banging into the wall. She threw her head back and groaned as she came again. He growled and shuddered, then carried her back to the bed and lay her down. He saw his blood on her lips and bent down to kiss her. She caressed his cheek as he wiped her mouth with his fingers.

She must have dozed off because when she opened her eyes Bill was gone. She got up and felt very dizzy. She sat down again. She felt weak. "Probably all that intense sex", she thought. She got up again hugging the wall as she headed to the bathroom. When she came out, she saw a note and a bottle on the pillow. She walked to the bed, sitting heavily. The bottle was Vitamin B12 and the note said, "D Please take these. I don’t want you to get weak from blood loss. I will return soon. Bill." Her eyes filled with tears as she thought how sweet a man Bill was.

Chapter Six
D fell asleep again. She was feeling pretty weak and just a little dizzy. Bill had a hard time waking her when he returned to the room. Finally she opened her eyes.

"D! What has happened? I couldn’t wake you." He sounded alarmed which frightened her. Her words were slow and just a little slurred.

"I don’t know, I’m... just so tired." Bill looked at how pale she was and realized what the problem was immediately.

"Damn it! I took too much blood too fast." He ripped off his jacket and threw it on the floor. Then he rolled up his sleeve and took a chunk out of his wrist with his fangs. He was bleeding profusely. D stared at him trying to comprehend what he was doing.

"Drink this. Drink it now!" He pushed his bleeding wrist towards her mouth and she moved her face and grinned.

"Are you trying to turn me?" She giggled and coughed.

"No! Just drink it now!" He bellowed at her and held her head while he pressed his wrist to her lips. She drank slowly at first, then greedily until Bill had to pull his wrist away. He wiped her mouth with his sleeve.

"Just relax, Sweetheart. You will be better soon." He was so tender, he stroked her cheek with his cool fingers. She opened her eyes again and looked directly into those beautiful blue eyes of his. She smiled and reached out for him. He wrapped her in his arms and sat back on the broken headboard. While she rested he thought about how the headboard had gotten broken and smiled to himself. He felt badly, he had gotten greedy. But he was confused, why did he care? He was so much better off when he did not interact with humans, especially women. They were a bigger weakness for him than a stake, he thought. He didn’t want to care for D, he had Sookie at home. But they were on opposite ends of the spectrum in everything. Looks, personality, sexual style. D stirred.

"How are you feeling?" He turned her head up so he could see her face. She smiled brightly at him.
"Actually I feel really good. Was that your blood that did that?" He nodded and she sat up
.
"Something else you should bottle, Babe." She seemed to be herself. She got up and excused herself heading to the bathroom. After a minute Bill followed.

"Feel like sharing a shower?" He said, grinning like a schoolboy. She smiled back at him and turned the shower on feeling the temperature with her hand.

"Maybe we need to have a conversation." She said, not looking at him.

"You have a subject in mind?" He asked as he took his shirt off and threw it in the trash. The blood would never come out.

"Just some vampire lore, maybe. First hand?" She took off her t shirt and stepped into the shower letting the water run down her body. She moved around feeling the heat from the water soothe her muscles. Bill watched from outside the shower, enjoying the show. He stripped naked and she could see he was hard. She wondered if she should ask him if he was hard all the time. She giggled and Bill looked at her and just smiled.

He stepped into the shower with her after she motioned for him to join her.
Bill turned D around and squeezed some shampoo into his hands. He rubbed his hands together and ran his soapy fingers through her hair. D chattered away asking Bill a thousand and one questions as he soaped up her hair and then rinsed her off. He answered all her questions honestly and in great detail, well most of them. Some of the more personal questions, like where he slept at home during the day, he answered vaguely. She didn’t seem to mind.

Bill picked up the bar of soap and started to rub it down D’s back and arms. She felt almost like a child with him washing her, but had to admit she was completely enjoying the attention. She felt his cool hands rub her ass cheeks and then slide in between them. She bent over allowing him greater access and laughed. He slapped her ass a little roughly and she screamed playfully.

"Well, Mr. Compton. I didn’t know you could be so playful." She turned to look at him and her eyes had glazed over slightly. He pulled her to him roughly and said,

"Really? Am I not playful enough for you? Am I too serious?" She put her hands on his chest and pushed back enough to look in his eyes. He was serious now.

"I’m not complaining. Just an observation. Maybe it’s a vamp thing." She took the soap out of his hands and rubbed it up and down his hairy chest. He stared at her while deep in his own thoughts. She lifted his arms, soaping up his armpits, down his arms, his hands and each finger. She looked down and saw his erection was pulsating every time she touched him. She licked her lips.

"I’m sorry. I .. Uh...guess I’m just not used to being playful. I certainly could try harder." She laughed and shook her head.

"Bill, really. It’s nothing for you to be concerned about. I love, er.... like you just the way you are." She blushed at the slip and turned him around. She soaped up his back and his ass. He bent over like she had and she chuckled. She slapped his ass as hard as she could, but he didn’t react.

"Didn’t feel a thing, did ya?" She was holding her hand. It stung. He looked at her, took her hand and kissed it getting soap all over his face. She laughed and so did he. A deep, throaty kind of laugh. She moved closer and kissed him. He pushed her back gently.

"I didn’t get your front and you missed a couple of spots." His eyes were starting to darken and his fangs were beginning to show. She knew the signs that he was ready for some hot and heavy sex. He took the bar of soap from her and circled her breasts with it, getting them all foamy and bubbly. Then he ran his hand and the bar down her belly to the vee between her legs. The soap made it easier to slide between her thighs. She spread her legs for him and moaned very low in her throat. Bill dropped the soap and pulled her close. He kissed her lips, pressing hard and forcing his tongue into her mouth. She sucked his tongue into her mouth, using her tongue to play fight with his. His hands slid down to her ass, which he gripped forcefully and pulled her closer, grinding his erection against her body. Her hands glided up and down his back, coming to rest on his ass and pulling him even closer.

"If I were any closer, I would be behind you." He smiled and she giggled.

"Okay, you’re funny. But not now." She said breathlessly. She pushed him against the wall and began stroking his engorged cock. She bent down to pick up the soap and used it make his cock slippery so her hands would slide up and down his shaft more easily. He watched her movements, his hands clenched at his sides, the shower flowing down his face and body. Bill pushed D against the wall then and moved toward her. She was breathing heavily, as she lifted one leg and put her foot on the bench in the shower. He slid his cock inside of her watching it slide in and disappear. She heard that deep growl in his chest that drove her wild with desire. Pulling her closer he began to pound into her, slamming her back against the tiles. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she moved against him, wet skin slapping against wet skin. They kissed deeply, as they fucked in an animal frenzy. He stopped and lifted her out of the shower carrying her to the bed. He dropped her on the bed and they both laughed. Then he jumped on her, holding himself on his arms so as not to actually land on her.

"Okay, now you’re trying too hard. Just fuck me, Bill. Make me scream with pleasure." She pulled his face down to hers by his hair and he slipped and cut her lip with fangs. She flinched at the pain and licked at the blood.

"I’m sorry, darling. I didn’t mean..." She hushed him with her fingers on his lips and ran her bloody tongue across his mouth. His eyes got very wide and his mouth opened, but he stopped himself. He couldn’t feed on her tonight. She needed time to heal. He licked his lips.

"Aren’t you hungry, Bill?" She moved her head to the side exposing her neck and the puncture wounds from the night before. He closed his eyes.

"No. You need to heal. I will not feed on you tonight." She looked at him then, with so much love, it was his turn to flinch. He was falling for this human and he had to stop himself. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He nuzzled his face in her neck, so he didn’t have to look in her eyes. He felt her reach for his manhood and maneuver it inside of her. She wrapped her legs around his waist and they began the rhythm. He leaned down to suckle one of her breasts as her hands squeezed his ass cheeks and pulled him deeper inside of her.
His body grew rigid as he prepared to cum. She moved faster then screamed with pleasure. He shuddered and fell limp on top of her. She put her legs down and tried to push him off. He wouldn’t move and she began to laugh.

"Get off, you’re killing me!" He rolled over on his back and she saw he was smiling.

"Oh, you’re just a barrel of laughs!" She rolled closer to him to cuddle and threw her arm and leg across his body. He stroked her arm and she sighed.

"See. I told you I could be playful." His eyes were closed and he was grinning.

"Yeah. You’re just the perfect man." She sighed again, keeping her head down on his chest trying to hide the tears pooling in her eyes.

"The sun is preparing to make an entrance. It’s time for me to sleep." He touched D’s face and kissed her forehead. She sat up on the bed not looking at him.

"I better go." She started to stand when he grabbed arm a little too roughly. She tried to pull away, but he wouldn’t let go.

"You’re hurting me, Bill." Her eyes were blazing. He loosened his grip but would not let go.

"Why are you leaving? I want you to stay with me." He sat up and stared at her face.

" I....." She looked down at her lap, taking a deep breath.

"It’s getting serious. I’m afraid." She glanced at his face which showed astonishment.

"I don’t understand. You want me to be playful. I’m playful. Now you say it’s serious. What’s serious? What are you afraid of? Me? Haven’t I proven I would not hurt you?" He let go of her arm and leapt to his feet.
"I just don’t understand you fucking humans!!!" He screamed at her. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She did both; at the same time. He kneeled in front of her.

"D. Don’t cry. Explain to me what you want." He placed a hand on either side of her face and kissed her gently on the mouth, then the cheek, then the chin. She lifted a hand to hit him and he grabbed it before she could and he kissed it. She sobbed even harder now.

"What is it? Please. Talk to me." He begged, concern in his blue eyes.

"You’re so fucking wonderful. You’re not supposed to be so wonderful." She pushed him away and stood up, pacing the room.

"You’re good and kind and sweet. You are the best lay I’ve ever had. You’re gorgeous and strong. You’re like a fucking knight in shining armor.!" She screeched and covered her face with her hands. Bill stood and pulled her hands away wrapping her arms around him and pulling her close, holding her tightly. She tried to pull away but he would not let her go. He didn’t want to let her go.

Chapter Seven

Sookie just lay on the rug not moving. The sex with Eric had been phenomenal, but she was feeling guilty. Eric stood and put his clothes back on then pulled Sookie up and helped her dress.

"How are you feeling, Lover?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"Terrible, Eric. I shouldn’t have let you..." He stopped her in mid-sentence.

"But you did let me. And you enjoyed it as much as I did." He grinned and kissed her lips. She moved away, straightening her ponytail. Eric was feeling mixed emotions coming from her. He couldn’t figure out what she wanted and he knew she couldn’t figure out what she wanted either. He decided to let her dwell on it.

"I’ll take you home, Sookie." He picked his car keys up off the desk.

"Would you mind having someone else drive me? No offense, but I need some time away from you." She looked at him with pleading in her eyes. He knew she was afraid she would not be able to control herself being alone with him tonight. He nodded and used the intercom to summon Pam. There was a knock at the door. Eric opened it and spoke to Pam in their native tongue. Pam looked at Sookie and nodded, motioning for Sookie to follow her.

"Goodnight, Eric." Sookie would not let their eyes meet.

"I will send your check as soon as I am able. Goodnight, Lover." He was so damn pompous Sookie thought as she walked out the door of the club behind Pam.

Sookie was thoughtful in the car. She looked at Pam who was very focused on the road.

"Thanks for taking me home, Pam. I really appreciate it." Pam shrugged.

"It is what my Master requested." She said it like she had no mind of her own.

"Do you always do what Eric requests?" Sookie was astonished at Pam’s lack of free will and independence.

"Yes. He’s not a bad Master and doesn’t usually ask for anything out of the ordinary. For vampires, that is." Pam looked at Sookie and smiled.

"But don’t you want to be independent? This Master stuff is so....so....medieval." Sookie was aghast at Pam’s lack of emotion in this matter.

"I do what I want, when I want unless Eric says otherwise. You should try it sometime."

"Eric is not my master!" Sookie was getting agitated. Pam looked her up and down and smirked
.
"Maybe he should be. But he is your lover. With humans, isn’t that the same thing?" Pam looked back at the
road.

"He’s not my lover, either. I love Bill!" Sookie was adamant. Pam chuckled.

"It seems tonight, you loved Eric. Do you "love the one you’re with" as the song goes?" Sookie kept her mouth shut. She didn’t know how to explain it to Pam. Hell, she didn’t even know how to explain it to herself. As they pulled up to Sookie’s house Pam stopped the car and just waited. Sookie got out and went inside. She knew she should have at least asked Pam in, but she wanted to be alone.

Sookie went straight upstairs and into the bathroom. She needed to shower and get Eric’s scent off of her body and her clothes. She stripped down and before she threw her clothes in the hamper, she smelled them. Closing her eyes she relived the evening with Eric. Alone in his office, having crazy sex on his desk. She smiled to herself. All alone she had to admit to herself it was fun and terribly arousing. Eric was a fine specimen of a man and he was very good in bed. She remembered the past as she buried her face in her clothes and breathed deeply. Then the guilt replaced the arousal and she tossed her clothes in the laundry hamper and stepped into the shower. She scrubbed her body practically raw trying to remove Eric’s scent. She knew Bill had an extra sensitive sense of smell. She did not want to leave any room for error. Her skin was pink with scrubbing and she dried herself off and crawled into her bed. Within minutes she was asleep, promising herself she’d do the laundry first thing in the morning.

As Sookie awakened the first thing she thought of was that she hadn’t spoken to Bill at all yesterday. After using the bathroom she checked her messages and there was one from Bill on the machine. Now she really felt guilty for not returning his call. But she reasoned she was busy working at Merlotte’s and then working for Eric. Trying not to think of what else she was doing with Eric, she went downstairs to make herself a cup of coffee. As she sat at the kitchen table reliving the night before, she thought about her options. She could tell Bill the truth, that she had done a job for Eric and then had awesome sex with the Viking. She snorted and thought, "yeah, that would go over big." She could just tell him about the job she did for Eric and leave out the sex part. Or she could just avoid telling him anything.

Her biggest fear was that Eric would open his big mouth and tell Bill about the sex. Eric had been trying to get her away from Bill from the first night they had met. He and Bill had constantly locked horns and the last thing she wanted to do was watch the two of them fight. She was afraid that one of them would have to die if they fought. Really die. For good. She shuddered and wrapped her cold hands around the hot coffee mug. She wondered how Bill’s database was selling in New York. She really hadn’t spoken to him much since he’d been away. She thought about hopping a flight up there and surprising him. She chewed on that for a while until the ringing phone brought her out of her thoughts. She picked it up, irritated.

"Hello." She hadn’t looked at the caller ID.

"Hey, Sook." It was Sam. She smacked herself in the head for not checking the caller ID first.

"Hi Sam. What’s going on?"

"Listen, I’m really sorry, but the new girl called and won’t be able to come in today and Arlene is still gone and..... Well, I guess you know what I’m going to ask you.." His voice trailed off when he heard her sigh in exasperation. She rubbed the back of her neck, while watching her flight to New York go up in flames in her mind’s eye.

"It’s okay, Sam. Really. I’ll be there as soon as I can."

"Thanks, Sookie. You’re the best!" She hung up before he could say anymore and she changed her mind. Gulping the rest of her coffee, she stalked up the stairs to put on her uniform. After she was dressed, she left a quick message for Bill on his phone. She knew he was asleep as it was still daylight. She got in her car and headed to Merlotte’s.

The afternoon went by slowly with Sookie spending most her time talking to Sam. It wasn’t busy and he wanted to know about the job she had to do for Eric the night before. She told him about the job and he was disapproving, scolding her and telling her she could have been killed. Like she didn’t already know that! That was routine with the jobs she did for the vamps. She blew his concern off and neglected to mention the great sex she had as a bonus. Shortly after the sun went down, Bill called her. She was happy to hear from him. But she noticed Bill was short and seemed distracted. He said business was going well.

"I miss you, Sweetie." She whispered. Waiting a little too long for a response, she pulled the phone from her ear and stared at it thinking they had been disconnected. They had not.

"Yes, I miss you too." He said finally.

"When are you coming home? I can’t wait to be close to you again." Again she waited. Was he alone? Was someone there he didn’t want to hear his conversation with her? She wished she could read his mind. Or did she?

"Uh, I don’t know just yet. I’ve been doing a booming business and just got word that the King was sending more supplies. So it should be a few more days." That wasn’t good news to her. She sighed and realized Sam was staring at her.

"Okay, Sweetie. Well, hurry and sell out so you can come home, okay? I gotta go. Sam’s giving me the evil eye." She turned her back on Sam so she wouldn’t have to look at him looking at her.

"Okay, darling. Goodnight. I will call you tomorrow." And the phone disconnected. "Hmmm." She thought, "Bill was awful weird on the phone." Then she thought maybe he was feeding and couldn’t talk because his "dinner" was there. Yuck! She went to check on her tables. In the midst of serving a pitcher of beer to one of her tables a terrible thought suddenly struck her. What if Eric had called Bill and told him about their little tryst? Oh Lord, she moved her hands the wrong way and the tray with the beer hit the floor. Sam was at her side.

"Sook! Are you okay? What happened?" He looked around to see if anyone had done anything to her. He looked to see if there were any vampires nearby.

"I’m sorry, Sam. It was nothing. Just clumsy of me. I’ll pay for it and I’ll clean it up. Let me get you guys another pitcher." She walked back to the bar with Sam on her heels.

‘What happened, Sookie? One of those guys do something they shouldn’t have? I’ll throw them out." He waited for an answer. Sookie filled a new pitcher and looked at Sam.

"No, Sam. I told you, I just wasn’t paying attention."

"Okay, if you’re sure." He looked at her like he didn’t quite believe her. She went back to the table with the new pitcher, while the bus boy cleaned up the spilled beer and broken glass. She thanked him and went out the back for a breath of air. She knew what she had to do and she didn’t want to do it. She needed to talk to Eric. She called Fangtasia. Someone she didn’t recognize answered the phone.

"Fangtasia. The bar with bite!" Said the too perky voice.

"Eric Northman, please. It’s Sookie Stackhouse."

"I’m sorry, Ms. Stackhouse, but Mr. Northman is not here. He left about 35 minutes ago. Would you like to leave a message?"

"Oh. Could you just ask him to call me back, please."

"Sure thing." Click. The line was dead.
When Sookie walked back inside the bar, Eric was standing near the door and everyone was staring at him. Well, he was something to stare at. Even Sookie lost her breath at the sight of him. His face softened when he spotted her and he started walking towards her. She met him halfway across the room, grabbed his hand and led him back outside through the back door. He followed always amused by Sookie and aroused, of course. Sam took a step towards them, but Eric bared his fangs and Sam backed off.
Sookie turned and tried to let go of his hand, but he held on fast.

"So Lover, what has gotten you so riled up tonight? Is it the sight of me?" He laughed, but saw Sookie was not amused. If anything, she looked pretty irritated. He let her hand go.

"Eric. Did you, Have you spoken to Bill lately? You know, since he’s been in New York?" She was trying to remain calm, but was ready to blow. Eric looked thoughtful, then said,

"No, I have not. Should I have?" He tilted his head sideways trying to read through all the emotions being blasted in his direction.

"No. I, uh... was just wondering." She looked at the ground trying to figure out her next step.

"Did you think I would call Bill to gloat? I am not that sadistic, Sookie. Then again, I really had not thought of it." He grinned at her, which set her off. She stepped forward forgetting for a minute who she was poking.

"Listen to me, Eric Northman. What happened between us last night was a mistake. I was scared and vulnerable and I don’t want you to breathe a word of this to anyone." She came back to herself quickly, tasting fear in her mouth as his face became stony. He grabbed the hand she had been poking him with a little too roughly.

"Now you listen to me, Lover. What happened last night was wonderful. I had no intention of running to Bill and telling him. I will leave that to you." He pushed her hand away with distaste and turned to walk away, then changed his mind. He turned back to her. She was holding the hand he had grabbed. He closed his eyes for a minute, then spoke.

"I’m sorry if I hurt you. Forgive me. I don’t usually lose my composure, as you well know. Here’s the deal. I won’t tell Bill. If." He skipped a beat, making her sweat it out.

"If you agree that you owe me a favor. Anything I see fit to call a favor. Anytime I see fit to call that favor in. Agreed?" He crossed his arms in front of his body and was quite an imposing figure. She shifted from one foot to the other.

"Eric..." She stopped with one look from him.

"Agreed?" He asked again.

"Yes." She answered in barely a whisper. He heard her. He then pulled a check out of his breast pocket and stuffed it in her apron. Then he was gone. Sookie wanted to burst into tears but noticed the collie was watching her from near the dumpster and she wasn’t sure if it was Sam or not so she took a deep breath and walked back into the bar.

Chapter Eight
When D awoke it was still light outside. She looked at the clock on Bill’s bedside table and saw it was after 4:00. She thought about last night as she stared at Bill dead asleep next to her. She was in love with him, that much she knew. She also knew it wasn’t going to work out between them. Not because he was a vampire, she loved the fact that he was different than all the guys she had ever dated. First of all she had always dated guys that were still alive. She snickered at the thought. But Bill was different in other ways. He was kind, sweet, compassionate and there was that bad boy vampire thing he had going that was a major turn on. But sadly he had a girlfriend at home. It wasn’t that she felt guilty about having sex with him because of his girlfriend, but she had a nagging feeling he wasn’t going to stay in New York with her.

She called room service for some food. She was ravenous after her night of love making with Bill. She threw on the white terrycloth robe that was hanging on the back of the bathroom door and sat in the green chair by the covered window. She had to figure out what to do now? Should she leave without a word? Should she stay and enjoy the time they had left together? She felt that she was setting herself up for heartbreak, but neither idea seemed to eliminate that. She was already in too deep. There was a knock at the door and she opened it to find her food had arrived.

"Oh. Wait. Let me get my purse." She told the bellboy.

"No, ma’am. Mr. Compton left strict instructions that you were not to pay for anything. He even took care of the tips for the staff." The pimply faced boy smiled at her and pushed the cart inside the room. His eyes opened very wide when he saw Bill sleeping in the bed and he left very quickly. D guessed he was human and chuckled at his reaction. She closed the door and sat down to eat the steak she had ordered. After finishing, she lay her head back on the chair and closed her eyes. She felt so good, better than she’d felt in a long time. The food she had eaten tasted different. She could pick out every spice and herb used to season the vegetables. It must be the vampire blood, she thought. She felt someone watching her. As she opened her eyes, she saw Bill was sitting up in bed watching her. He smiled.

"What were you thinking about?" He asked her very gently.
"About the dinner I just had." She answered him just as gently. They sat looking at each other from across the room. Then they both began speaking at the same time.

"Bill, we need..." She started.

"D. I think we.." He began. They laughed and she walked over to the bed and sat on the edge. He took her hand in his.

"You go first." He said as he brought her hand to his mouth and kissed her palm. She shivered from the tingles that ran up her spine from his touch.

"I just... I thought maybe we needed to talk, but while you were sleeping I thought it over and maybe there’s nothing to talk about." She couldn’t bring herself to tell him she couldn’t bear to be away from him.

"I understand. I can feel you now. We’ve shared blood. I’m sorry if you are in pain because of me. I never meant..." He looked down at her hand in his and brought it up to his face, rubbing his cheek against her fingers. He pulled her into bed next to him and she laid her head on his chest.

"I don’t have an answer for you D. I don’t want to leave you, but eventually I must. If I felt the things you do, it would break my heart as well." She looked up at him and knew he was being sincere. She put her head back down on his chest and sighed heavily.

"I am sure there is some solution to this. Let me think about it. Until then, I want you to stay with me for as long as I am here. It is your decision." She got up then and walked back to the table to drink some water. Bill got up and put a bottle of blood into the microwave. He drank and dressed as she watched him slip into a pair of black jeans and a heather gray button down shirt without saying a word. There were no words in her. She was numb. Bill looked at his phone and saw there was a message from Sookie. He dialed Merlotte’s and spoke with her for a minute. He was distracted and did not want to say too much in front of D. He watched as she sat with her head down and her hands playing with the belt on her robe. He felt her discomfort. He hung up.

"I have to go to work now. Will you come and keep me company?"

"I don’t think Elena likes me." She looked up at him and got caught up in his eyes. She found she could not look away. He smiled and shrugged.

"Her loss. I will send her away when you come." He walked to her and kissed her gently on the mouth. She touched his cheek, continually amazed at how cool he felt. He kissed her fingers and walked out of the room. D sat in the chair a little longer, just seeing Bill in her mind. She wondered if he could think of anything that would save her from losing him. She got up to dress.

As Bill rode the elevator down to the convention room, he thought about the conversation he had had with Sookie. He had lied to her on the phone. The King was not sending extra supplies. He was almost finished with his job here and could go home sooner than he had said. He wasn’t ready to leave though. He put his head against the wall of the elevator and listened to the battle going on in his head. How could he rectify the problem of leaving D. He didn’t want to leave her. He had deep feelings for her. But he had deep feelings for Sookie as well. How did he get himself into this mess? More importantly, how would he get out of it. The elevator doors opened and he headed to the convention room.

The room became busy very quickly. It was the last night of the trade show and people were clamoring for all the information they could get. Bill’s table was packed with people most of the evening. Without looking up, he felt when D entered the room.

"You may go now, Elena. Thank you for all your help. I will give King DeCastro a satisfactory report of your performance here." Bill’s face was expressionless as he glanced in Elena’s direction.

"Are you sure? You will be alone if I leave now." She looked quizzically at Bill, then saw D step up to the table.

"Ah, I see. You will not be alone. Goodnight, Mr. Compton." Elena picked up her things and walked away. She brushed past D giving her a look of scorn as she passed. D smiled at her and walked behind the table.

"I’m glad you decided to join me." Bill said as he took cash from a customer and handed it to D. She made change and handed it back.
"So am I." She was glowing. Just from being close to Bill she felt the pull of their bond and it made her feel light. Like she could float up to the ceiling. They continued to work as one; side by side until the end of the night. Neither of them spoke. It was a comfortable silence and they were both lost in their own thoughts. Bill left the table only once to get them both drinks. Then the night was over and they were packing up.

"Have you made your decision?" Bill wouldn’t look at D as he spoke.

"What decision was that, Babe?" She was bent over packing up some brochures that were left over. He slipped up behind her and moved close. She put her hand on the table to stop herself from falling over and giggled. She felt his hand slide down her ass and try and get up her skirt. She stood quickly and looked around to see if anyone else was watching.

"Bill! Stop it. Not here." Her hands went to his chest and she was having trouble breathing. He did that to her. He was smirking as he pulled her close and kissed her hard on the mouth. She ran her hands up through his thick dark hair as his hands slid down to her ass again.

"I guess you’ve answered my question. You will stay with me?" He pulled her skirt up exposing her bare skin and squeezed her cheeks with his hands. She didn’t care if anyone was looking now. She was mesmerized.

"Yes." She could barely get the word out of her mouth. He slipped his tongue into her waiting mouth and she sucked it in. As they kissed she felt his fangs extend.

"Maybe we’d better go upstairs now." She pulled away from him pulling her skirt down. She was breathing heavy, as she took his hand and they walked to the elevators. They were alone when the elevator doors closed and Bill pushed her roughly against the wall. He pulled her skirt up and ripped her panties off her body. D ripped his shirt open, the buttons popping in all directions. She leaned forward and sucked on one of his nipples as he opened his zipper and released his manhood. D reached down to stroke him and Bill leaned over to press the stop button on the elevator. The elevator stopped with a bounce.

D got on her knees and took him into her mouth. Bill growled, feeling her wet, warm mouth engulf his cock. While she sucked and licked his pulsing maleness, she undid his pants all the way so they dropped to his ankles. His fingers were entwined in her hair and she reached behind him to squeeze his ass cheeks. He pulled her head away by her hair. She looked up at him as he held her head away. Then he walked around behind her and got on his knees. She watched him as he grabbed her hips and pushed all of his hard, wet cock inside her. She moaned and leaned on her elbows giving him the position he needed to enter her fully. He pulled her hips to him, closer and harder as he rammed her with is body. He was pounding her with such force she felt the elevator shift just a little. He pounded at her until he groaned out loud with his climax.
He moved back slightly and laid down on his back. He pulled her into a sitting position on his face. She thought she would explode. His tongue worked her nub into a hard little ball, her juices dripping onto his face. He reached under her blouse with one hand and stroked one of her nipples. She felt him sucking on her clit like was a baby bottle and she thought she would faint from the ecstacy of the way it felt. Then he moved his face to the side, using his fingers instead of his tongue to bring her to orgasm. Just before she came, as she was moaning, he bit down on the inside of her thigh and drank as she screamed out his name.

After she caught her breath, she got up off of him. They fixed their clothing as best they could and Bill pressed the button to his floor. The elevator hesitated and continued it’s upward journey. As they got off at their floor, there were a few people walking to their rooms and they stared at the two disheveled figures exiting the elevator. Bill kept his face expressionless, but D found it hard not to smile. She turned her face away from the crowd of people. They entered the room.

Chapter Nine
As Bill locked the door, he looked at D, who was giggling.

"What do you find so amusing?" He smiled and walked over to her. She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. He held her away from his body, looking in her eyes. She smiled.

"I guess I was slightly embarrassed and had to laugh."

"Embarrassed. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Making love is a natural part of life." She shook her head and laughed again.

"Not in a public elevator, Bill!" He laughed with her, as his hands began to roam over her body. Suddenly she remembered the panties he had ripped off of her.

"Oh! My panties are still in the elevator." She covered her face with her hands and felt him pull her hands away. He pulled a piece of red lace out of his jacket pocket.

"They are no longer of any use to you, darling. I will replace them." She let out a sigh of relief and pulled them from his hand, throwing them across the room.

"I don’t care about them, Babe. I just didn’t want any evidence left in the elevator." She pressed her lips to his, he responded. Her tongue slid along his lip line and she pulled at his bottom lip with her teeth. His fangs showed. She licked one fang and then the other. He groaned and she imagined the fabric of his pants groaned with the stress they were receiving from his growing manhood. She pressed her body closer to him, grinding her hips into him. They undressed each other without ripping anything to shreds this time. He reached down and touched her wetness, sliding his fingers around inside her swollen lips. She moved closer to him as she felt his fingers enter her. Her eyes rolled back in her head with the pleasure she was feeling and she groaned. Bill lifted her with his free hand and laid her on the bed on her back. She pulled at his clothes getting them off his body.

She stroked him as he stroked her. She was breathing heavy and supposed he would be too if he did breathe. He was watching her hand on his cock, which was turning a deeper color as she stroked.

"Fuck me, Bill. I want to feel you inside me." She pulled at him and he mounted her pushing her legs up so her feet rested on his shoulders. He entered deeply and slowly, with little strokes in and out and he pushed deeper and deeper. She whimpered each time he pushed himself inside of her. He grunted and his fangs flashed with the light from the lamp. His strokes were getting harder and faster and she was trying to keep the rhythm with her hips. She reached up and grabbed him by the hair, pulling his face down to her neck.

"Bite me, Babe. I love when you bite me." She whispered in his ear. He growled and fucked her harder. She felt his fangs pierce her skin and she cried out in pain and pleasure. He sucked her blood, as he fucked her. She came screaming and scratching and he picked his head up and roared, blood dripping from his fangs onto her breast. He put his head down and cleaned her wound, then rolled off to her side on his back.

"Oh shit, Bill. I can’t believe it just gets better and better each time." She couldn’t move, she just lay there
beside him glowing in the aftermath of their lovemaking. He held her hand and they just rested for a while, not saying anything. After a while, Bill spoke,

"Are you asleep?" He whispered in case she was he did not want to wake her.

"No. Just thinking." He turned on his side to face her and saw she had goosebumps on her body. He covered her and she smiled.

"What are you thinking about?" He kept one hand under the cover on her stomach. He just wanted to touch her warm, silky skin while she talked. She took a deep breath.

"I don’t know if you’re going to like this or not." She didn’t look at him, she couldn’t look in his eyes.

"Tell me. Now I’m curious." He turned her face towards him and their eyes locked. Those blue eyes ripped at her soul.

"I think I have a solution to our problem. Well, to my problem anyway." She waited.

"And that solution is...?" His long cool fingers rubbed in a circle around her belly button. She turned her head, staring at the ceiling as she spoke. She tried to keep her voice steady, which wasn’t easy with what she was about to say.

"I think you should turn me." She held her breath. His fingers stopped in mid circle and he propped himself up on one elbow.

"You think I should turn you?" He said each word very clearly, as if he were repeating something he did not
understand. She felt herself flush.

"Yes. I think that would be the perfect solution. You turn me into a vampire and then you go back to your life in Louisiana." He started to get agitated and sat up with his back to her.

"You don’t know what you’re asking of me. This is not a game. I...." He was at a loss for words, remembering
the one and only time he had turned someone. It was as traumatic for him as it was for Jessica, the young girl he was forced to turn as punishment for killing another vampire. Although she had acclimated quite well and quite quickly. D sat up wrapping the covers around her and took Bill’s hands in hers.

"You don’t understand. You may never be able to understand. I’m opening up to you here, something I don’t usually do. I’m in love with you, Bill." The last sentence came out very low and almost as a sob. She took a deep breath to hold back the tears. He still wouldn’t look at her.

"I can’t bear the thought of you leaving me. And I know you have to leave, I won’t ask you not to. But it’s going to break my heart and I’m trying to protect myself." She tried to will him to look at her.

"I do understand. I know I’m not supposed to have feelings anymore, but I feel your feelings and I do care for you. What makes you think my turning you will change anything?" He looked at her then and his eyes were glassy and dark. She leaned her head down so their foreheads were touching. Tears dropped from her eyes into her lap.

"It would change me. I wouldn’t be so vulnerable anymore. I am hoping I wouldn’t care anymore." He kissed her head, removed his hands from hers and stood and put the same black jeans back on.

"You don’t know anything about being a vampire. They are not all like me. It’s not all about great sex. There are a lot of evil vamps out there. You would have to feed on humans, maybe even kill them in the process. You would have to sleep all day and never see the sun again. You wouldn’t be human any longer" He shook his head, then continued.

"What about your family? Your friends? You are a foolish woman to ask this of me." He put on a clean shirt, something blue with stripes, slipped on his loafers and walked to the door. He turned to look at her. Her eyes were pleading and if he still had a heart if would have broken seeing her like that.

"I can’t..." With that he left the room. D stared at the door as he closed it behind him. She expected him to be angry, but instead he sounded so sad. She put her face in her hands and sobbed like her world had just come to an end.
Bill walked down the 18 flights to the lobby and straight out the door into the street. He just walked with no destination in mind. He had to think. What was she thinking asking him to turn her into a vampire? What did she think it entailed? Did she even know? And what about afterwards? She would be his child. As the thoughts swirled in his head his cell phone rang. It was Sookie. He answered the call.

"Hello." He tried to sound normal.

"Hey, Sweetie. How’s it going?" She sounded quite perky. He was glad someone was happy.

"Okay. Business is doing very well."

"Good! And how are you, my big handsome vampire? I miss you a lot." She giggled and he could hear background noise. Sounded like she was still at work.

"I’m well. Are you still at work?" He wasn’t interested in this conversation at the moment, but he had to pretend he was.

"Yeah, leaving in a few minutes. It was really busy tonight too. I’m so tired. Can’t wait to go home and get in bed." She waited before she spoke again. He said nothing.

"Bill? Are you sure you’re allright? When are you coming home?" She was starting to sound needy. He didn’t like it.

"In a few days, I told you. I miss you too, Sookie. I’ll be home in a few days. I have to go. I’ll call you tomorrow night." He heard her let out a deep breath on the other end of the line. Now it was his turn to wait.

"Okay, Bill. I love you. Talk to you tomorrow." The line disconnected and Bill closed his phone putting it back into his pocket. As he looked around, it amazed him how many people were on the street, just strolling and chatting. New York was a strange place. Most of the people were humans and it was the middle of the night. He kept walking. He didn’t notice the blatant excitement of the city. The dull, droning movement all around him of people and traffic. Bill’s mind was buzzing with the conversation he had with D before he left the room. Bill started to feel badly about leaving her alone in her state of mind and turned to go back to the hotel.

When he arrived back at the hotel, he ran upstairs and upon opening the door found D asleep in his bed. He was relieved that she hadn’t left. He walked over to where she was sleeping and kneeled down in front of her. He could see by the redness and swelling on parts of her face that she had been crying and quite hard. He bowed his head feeling sad for her. She moved in her sleep and he looked up at her, stroking her face lightly with his fingers. She opened her eyes. D practically flung herself into his arms pushing him backwards to sit on his bottom. She was wrapped around him and he held her tightly. She kissed his face all over and he had to laugh.

"Easy, darling. Did you think I wouldn’t return?" He smiled at her and she just nodded. He kissed her head.

"Can we continue this discussion tonight? The sun is coming up." He looked up at her face through his lashes. She nodded again, hugging him tightly. He cradled her in his arms as he rose to his feet laying her back in bed. He stripped naked and lay next to her. They entwined themselves around each other as sleep overtook them both.

Chapter Ten

When Sookie pulled up to her house, she saw Jason sitting on the porch drinking a beer out of the bottle. He was alone. That was different for Jason, but Sookie wasn’t in the mood for any company. She got out of her car and walked over to Jason. She sat on the steps near him.

"Hey, Sis! What’s shakin?" He seemed to be in an extraordinarily good mood. Maybe he was drunk.

"What are you doing here, Jason? Is everything okay?" She looked at his face and saw nothing unusual. She wouldn’t reach out to his mind. It wasn’t right, he was family.

"Can’t I come and visit my favorite sister?" He joked, as she was his only sibling. She looked at him with annoyance and turned to stare elsewhere
.
"What’s the matter, Sookie? Bad night at Merlotte’s? Get in any fights tonight?" He laughed remembering the beating she had given Mack Rattray back when Bill first came to town. She saved the vampire from being drained that night and they’d been together ever since. Well...just about. Sookie just shrugged and Jason got serious.

"Really, what’s bugging you? You are definitely not yourself tonight. Can I help?" She was surprised at Jason’s concern. He wasn’t usually so worried about her. Not that she knew of anyway. She stood up and motioned for him to follow her inside. She put her purse down on the desk and headed toward the kitchen. Jason followed.

"I have a big problem, Jason. You feel like listening?" She made herself a cup of coffee while Jason sat at the kitchen table and put his feet up. Sookie pushed his feet off of the table with a stern look of disapproval. He chuckled and crossed his legs.

"What happened now? It has to be those damn vamps, right? Where’s Bill anyways?" He looked around the kitchen like he expected Bill to suddenly appear out of thin air.

"He’s in New York at a kind of trade show for supernaturals. That’s not the problem." She took a deep breath trying to determine whether or not her brother was the one she should confide in. Well, he was here.

"New York, huh? Wow. I’m impressed. I’ve always wanted to see New York. Is that it? You’re missing your little vampire boyfriend?" Jason poked at Sookie’s ribs and she slapped his hand away.

"Cut it out. And no, it’s not about me missing Bill. And yes, I do miss him. I had a job to do for Eric last night." She sat down with her coffee and just looked at her brother until she saw some recognition come into his face. He was a little slow, but she loved him nonetheless.

"Eric? You know you should really stay away from him. He’s just trouble." He finished his beer and tossed the bottle into the recycling. It clinked as it hit another bottle. He grinned, then looked back at Sookie and lost the grin
.
"So? You look okay. What’s the problem?" Jason sat forward with his elbows on the table trying to show he was paying close attention to what Sookie was about to tell him. His brows rose as he waited for her to speak.

"Uh, well I did the job and it got a little out of hand. I was in trouble but just for a minute. Pam actually saved me from...." She swallowed and couldn’t even repeat the rest of the story.

"But it was afterwards that the problem really started. I had sex with Eric." Her voice got really low when she said it and her stomach did a flip. Jason’s eyes widened and he started to smile, but stopped himself
.
"Why would you do that, Sook? Did you break up with Bill? Are you moving on to a new vamp? I don’t get it." His forehead creased as he tried to comprehend what she was telling him.

"No, Bill and I are okay. I think. He’s been gone for a few days and when I talk to him on the phone he sounds distant and strangely distracted. I don’t know why I let Eric..." She trailed off thinking back to the way Eric looked at her as he came towards her that night. She was breathing a little heavier, even now.

"Let Eric what? Did he force you? Or threaten you?" He knew he himself would sleep with anybody and probably had slept with most of the girls in the town of Bon Temps, but his sister was a good girl. At least before she met that vampire. Sookie shook her head.

"No, he didn’t force me or threaten me." Jason interrupted her.

"Did he glamour you? If he did, you tell me and I’ll...." She put her hand up and had to smile.

"No, Jason. Nothing like that. I just did it, I don’t know why. But now I’m afraid Bill will find out. Eric swore he wouldn’t tell him, but only if I promised him a favor." She looked down at her untouched cup of coffee and got up to throw it in the sink. She washed the cup out and put it on the counter. Her back was toward Jason and she heard the chair scrape the floor as he got up and walked over to her. She felt his hand touch her shoulder.

"What kind of favor, Sookie?" He practically whispered in her ear.

"I don’t know." She didn’t turn or look at him, just shook her head.

"And you said yes? To some favor when you don’t even know what that favor is?" He was incredulous and backed up. His voice had gotten louder.

"Yes." She turned to look at him and saw his face was starting to flush with anger.

"I didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t want Eric to run and tell Bill what I had done. He would never forgive me." Tears sprang to her eyes as she spoke. Jason would have none of it, though. He backed away further, turning around slamming his hand on the kitchen table. Sookie jumped.

"What were you thinking? You could have agreed to anything!" He was yelling now and Sookie backed up against the counter. He turned to glare at her.

"You don’t know what that vampire wants from you. He could want you to kill someone for him or something worse!" He was screaming.

"Jason, he doesn’t need me to kill anyone for him. He’s perfectly capable of killing anyone he wants at any time he wants without my help." She tried to remain calm, even though Jason’s rants weren’t helping.

"Then what do you think it could be?" He stopped talking and tried to think.

"Maybe he wants me." She said in a little girl’s voice. Jason looked up at her then and tried to calm himself. He saw his sister was distraught and he was making it worse. He touched her arm and it hurt him to see her flinch. He had hit her out of anger once when Gran was killed and she never forgave him for that. He didn’t deserve to be forgiven
.
"Okay. Let’s think about this. If he wants you, wouldn’t he have just picked you up and taken you? Who would have stopped him? He knows Bill is away, right?" She nodded.

"Then maybe your only option is to tell Bill the truth so that he can help you. He can protect you. He’s probably the only one who can." Jason sat down again, rubbing his face with his hands in frustration. Sookie sat down across from him and hid her face in her hands. Jason stared at her hands until she put them on the table. She looked wiped out.

"Listen, why don’t you go up to bed. I’ll stay here tonight on the couch." He tried to sound light, but he was worried and didn’t know what he could do if Eric did show up. Sookie smiled at him, thinking the same thing. He couldn’t stop Eric if he decided to show up here.

"Thanks, but no. You go home. I’ll be fine. Eric wouldn’t do anything to hurt me. I’m not afraid of him." Jason looked at her face and knew she was telling the truth. He was probably afraid enough for both of them.

"Are you sure? I don’t mind."

"I’m sure. If he was going to make a move, he would have made it already. I’m more afraid his move will be when Bill comes back." She bit her bottom lip, bowing her head again. The fear was more about Eric telling Bill what had happened between them. Or fighting Bill. She wasn’t afraid for herself physically. Eric wouldn’t hurt her, she was sure of that. That’s not to say she might not get hurt accidentally while being in the middle of whatever was going on. That seemed to happen way too often. Sookie got up and walked into the livingroom. Jason followed.

"Go home, Jason. Thanks for listening. I’m sorry if I upset you." She opened the door and held it for him. He patted her shoulder as he walked past her
.
"Hey, what are brother’s for?" He grinned, but it wasn’t real.

"Call me if you need anything. Okay?" He turned to look at her, but she was lost in her own thoughts. He sighed and walked down the steps to his truck. Sookie closed the door and leaned against it until she heard the truck pull away. She locked the door and went upstairs. In the bathroom, she filled the tub while she stripped her clothes off leaving them where they fell. She stepped into the tub and leaned back, trying hard to relax. She closed her eyes. Her thoughts were a jumble in her head, then she thought something in the room changed. It was the air. She felt it rather than heard it. She opened her eyes. Eric was standing with his back against the wall, his arms across his chest and a smirk on his lips. Her first reaction was to scream and then cover her body.

"Good Lord, Eric. You scared the hell out of me!" Her arms were covering her breasts and she was trying to lean over the tub to grab the towel. Eric leaned over and pulled it just out of her reach. She sighed in exasperation and he laughed heartily.

"Hello, Lover. I would have been here sooner, but I was waiting for your brother to leave. Were you two having a spat?" He just stood there like a Greek god. He was wearing tight black jeans with a sleeveless black t shirt with the Fangtasia logo on the front. His boots were black and shiny and his belt buckle was huge and ornate. Eric was nothing if not showy. The only thing Sookie found disconcerting about his appearance was the gigantic bulge in his pants. She felt like she was going to hyperventilate. Eric knew she was looking at his body and he was enjoying her reaction, even if she was trying to hide it.

"What do you want now, Eric? This is really not the time." She wanted to get out of the tub, but then she would be completely exposed and she didn’t want that either. She was afraid of his reaction. She could see he was licking his lips and his eyes were getting darker. His fangs were slowly descending and starting to change the shape of his mouth.

"Well, I came to do you another favor. I’ve come across some information I thought you might be interested in." His eyes were completely black now, a sure sign he was aroused or angry. She guessed aroused.

"And it couldn’t wait? At least til I was out of the bath?" He finally gave in and handed her the towel. His gaze never left her body. He leaned against the wall again, trying to keep his distance, trying to maintain control. She stood in the tub and wrapped the towel around her wet body. She stepped out and headed to her bedroom. He got there before she did. She just rolled her eyes.

"What is it, Eric? What is this news you came to tell me?" She pulled a blue silk robe on over the towel and when she had tied the robe closed she let the towel drop to the floor. She walked over to the mirror above her dresser and began to brush her hair. She saw Eric step up behind her in the mirror. He took the brush out of her hand and began to brush her hair. She stood still, trying not to breathe or show any emotion. It was very difficult.

"It’s not something you will want to hear, my lover. Your darling Bill has been unfaithful to you while he’s been "working" in New York." He continued brushing her hair gently, watching her face in the mirror for any sign of emotion. She closed her eyes for a split second working very hard to compose herself. Her stomach, however, did a flip-flop upon hearing his words.

"I don’t believe you." She could hardly get the words out of her mouth. She knew he heard her.

"Why would I lie to you? I am attempting to protect you. Compton is not who you think he is." She turned on him then, grabbing the brush from his hands. He didn’t move, but raised his eyebrows and waited. She pushed her way past him, she needed air to breathe and he was sucking it all out of her. She got across the room and turned to scowl at him.

"I don’t believe you, Eric Northman! You’re making it up!" She screamed at him. She thought she was going to puke, but the anger in her was stronger and took over. Eric tried to hide a smirk.

"I have no reason to lie to you, Sookie. Think about it."

"You have every reason to lie to me. Because you want me and you want to make Bill look bad so I’ll leave him. You are a manipulative, egotistical, unfeeling....." He was turning rigid with rage, but kept it under control.

"Unfeeling? Can you honestly say you believe I am unfeeling? Have I not felt for you?" He said it in a very controlled tone of voice. She knew this was a sign that she might have stepped over some imaginary boundary. He stepped forward and stopped. He would have taken a very deep breath if he had indeed still needed to breathe. He ran both his hands through his hair very roughly. He glared at her. She glared back.

Suddenly his body started to shake and he bent forward. She didn’t understand what was happening. When he picked his head up she realized he was laughing. Laughing!!! Harder than she had ever seen a vampire laugh. She was enraged. She flew at him without thinking, her fists out ready to pummel him. He grabbed her by the waist turning and throwing her on her back onto the bed. He was straddling her, holding her arms down before she realized what had happened. Her robe had opened and Eric’s eyes were riveted on her naked body.

Chapter Eleven
"Eric! Get off of me!" She started to struggle, her legs kicking. He squeezed her legs between his rock hard thighs to keep her still. His fangs were fully extended now as he stared at her breasts heaving with her every breath. He looked into her eyes for just a moment and looked back at her body. He leaned down and kissed her neck, using his tongue on her earlobe. She tried to scream, but had no voice. With every struggling move, she felt him become more and more excited. She knew she was excited too, she could feel the wetness between her legs and her breath coming in jagged gasps.

"Sookie." He said it so low she wasn’t sure she even heard it. His lips moved down her bare shoulder, gently nuzzling and kissing at the same time. He rubbed his cold, rough face against her nipple, making it stand up at attention. Then he took it in his mouth and suckled gently. She felt his tongue drawing circles around the tip of her nipple. She moaned and he felt her body start to go limp. He moved to the other breast and did the same to that hard little nipple. She arched her back, pushing her breasts against his face. He used his teeth gently on her nipple and she gasped.

He was still holding her wrists with one hand, while his other hand slid down the side of her body. He just wanted to feel her soft warm skin. He reached between her legs and her wetness drove him nearly mad. He growled deep in his chest as his fingers stroked her sex.

"Let my hands go." She choked the words out.

"Will you behave?" He looked at her smiling, but not in a mocking way. She nodded and he released his grip. She grabbed his hair with both her hands and pulled his face to hers. Their eyes locked on one another as she pressed her lips to his passionately. She struggled to pull his shirt over his head, so he ripped it off his body. Then he slid his pants down and off. Before she knew what was happening, Eric’s face was between her thighs, lapping at the juices oozing from her body. He was on his knees beside the bed with his hands holding her up by her ass cheeks. She was writhing and moaning with each lick he took. He used his tongue to enter her and squeezed her cheeks with passion. She grimaced from the pain, but said nothing. She came, bucking and squirming against his mouth. He set her down and wiped his mouth, then crawled up onto the bed next to her. He turned her over on her stomach and lifted her hips into the air. He slapped her ass once and she gasped with the sting of his cold, hard hand. Then he slapped the other cheek, watching as they grew red with his hand print. She tried to hold the tears back. He pushed his huge, hard cock inside of her, ramming her with his hips. He pulled her back tightly against his body as his hips moved to the primal rhythm he felt when he was with her. She mirrored his movements. He pounded her harder and harder until she cried out. He came back to himself and slowed his movements. He could rip her to pieces in his frenzy if he was not careful.

As he came, he cried out something in a language she did not understand. He let her go and lay down beside her. She just stayed where she was, on her stomach with her eyes closed. He played with her hair and she opened her eyes. His eyes had turned lighter and his fangs were gone. He had not fed from her and she was grateful. Not that he didn’t want to, but he had thought better of it.

"Tell me the truth, Eric." She whispered not moving.

"About what, Lover?" He asked, knowing exactly what she wanted to know.

"About Bill. Is he "being unfaithful"?" She didn’t want to hear it, but she had to know.

"That’s what I heard. I wasn’t there." Now he was trying to be diplomatic. He didn’t want to get her angry again, although it certainly was fun. He turned onto his back and covered his eyes with his arm. Sookie took that moment to take in every inch of his body and commit it to memory. It was gorgeous. She supposed she had no right to be angry with Bill, after all this was the second time in a few days that she had "been unfaithful" with Eric.

"Are you okay? Did I hurt you? I got a little out of control for a minute." He kept his arm over his eyes, but she could tell he was grinning. She sighed.

"I’m fine." She got up then and put her robe back on. She picked up his jeans and what was left of his shirt and tossed them on the bed next to him.

"You’d better go." She said, with no emotion in her voice. Eric picked up his head.

"You sure you want me to go. I could stay the night if you like." He sat up and looked at the left over shreds of his shirt and shook his head smiling.

"Please. I’d feel better if you left now." She was looking at herself in the mirror, wondering.

"Okay, Lover. Anything to make you happy." He put his jeans on and buckled his belt. He had to leave without a shirt. He walked behind Sookie and wrapped his arms around her waist. She just stared in the mirror without seeing. Eric kissed the top of her head and he was gone. She had wanted to ask him what he meant when he said Bill wasn’t who she thought he was, but she hadn’t thought fast enough. Maybe she didn’t want to know.

She sighed heavily and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
After her shower Sookie got into bed. She was exhausted both physically and mentally. She didn’t want to think about Eric or Bill anymore today. She fell into a restless sleep. Dreams kept her moaning and tossing all night.

Sookie awoke late in the afternoon. She was off from work today and had some household chores to do and some errands to run. She got up and after having her coffee, she did the laundry. She changed the sheets on her bed and made sure she took what was left of Eric’s t shirt out of her bedroom. She put it near her purse, thinking she’d drop it in the trash somewhere not so close to her house. She wanted no evidence left for Bill to find. She hurt all over when she thought of Bill. If what Eric said was true, then Bill was in New York having fun and not working. Had he lied to her from the beginning or did he just find someone to have sex with while he was there? She was so angry she wanted to stake him, but she kept telling herself that she was just as bad. She knew if she had denied Eric, he would not have forced her to have sex with him. She also knew she couldn’t believe every word Eric said about Bill. She had to find a way to get over this.

She got in her car with her purse and Eric’s t shirt. She went food shopping, to the Post Office and to the library to return some books. She had left the books in her car yesterday so she wouldn’t forget them. She dropped the shredded t shirt in a trash can by the library. Then got back in her car and headed home. Jason had left her a message, checking up on her. She did not want to tell him what had happened last night. She called him back so he wouldn’t worry and when she hung up she put her groceries away. She put the wash in the dryer and went upstairs to clean up the bathroom and her bedroom.

She was so caught up in her own thoughts, that she never even heard the phone ring. What she did hear was the answering machine. It was Bill. Her heart skipped a beat as she reached for the phone, but she stopped herself. He left her a brief message and he still sounded distracted. Was his new girlfriend there with him, she wondered. Were they having sex as he spoke? She was driving herself crazy. She scolded herself, knowing from past experience that Eric was not to be trusted. Why was she so hell bent on believing him this time? She touched the answering machine lovingly and went downstairs to continue cleaning up. Cleaning was the only thing that brought her any internal peace.

As she scrubbed the floor in the kitchen, she heard a car drive onto the gravel in her front yard. She stood up and went to the window. It was Amelia and Octavia. She didn’t know if she felt relief that she wouldn’t be alone anymore today and distress. She didn’t have a choice as they were both staying with her. They came in the front door, chattering away about something they had done. Sookie was standing in the kitchen doorway when they spotted her. Everyone smiled.

"Hey, Sookie! I didn’t think you’d be home today. A day off?" Amelia said, as she moved toward Sookie to get a closer look. Sookie just nodded.

"Too bad we didn’t know, you could have joined us on our shopping trip into Shreveport." Amelia stopped talking when she saw how upset Sookie looked.

"What’s wrong?" Sookie turned and moved back into the kitchen. Amelia started to follow and realized the floor was still wet and stopped.
"Sookie?" Amelia waited for an answer, while Octavia lingered behind her. Sookie motioned for them to join her
in the kitchen and they all sat around the kitchen table as Sookie told the whole story. She left nothing out as she had with Jason. They sat mesmerized by all they had missed in the last few days. Octavia was the first one to speak.

"If I may?" She folded her hands on the table in front of her as she thought of the right words to say.
"You have no right to be angry with Bill." Sookie’s mouth dropped open as she prepared to speak. Octavia put her hand up.

"Let me finish, please. First of all, you just said you don’t trust Eric. Secondly, you did the same thing with Eric, TWICE, that Bill supposedly is doing. And thirdly and most importantly in my mind, Bill is a vampire." She looked at her hands. Sookie’s mouth opened and closed but nothing came out for a minute.

"You mean I’m supposed to be okay with anything he does because he’s a vampire?" She was aghast at the thought.

"No. I mean you need to take a step back and think about it. He is no longer human and hasn’t been human for a very long time. You need to stop expecting his reactions to things to be human."

"So he’s allowed to go out and have sex with anyone he wants, while I sit at home and..." Amelia jumped in at this point.

"Sit home and what, Sookie? Have sex with Eric? Be reasonable! You did the same thing he is being accused of and he’s being accused by ERIC!" She was getting quite agitated and Octavia gently touched her arm to calm her. She sat back in her chair and snorted. Sookie bowed her head rubbing it in frustration. Amelia spoke more softly this time.

"Didn’t it occur to you that Eric has ulterior motives?" She reached across the table to take Sookie’s hand. Sookie did not move.

"Yes, you’re right. It’s just so hard. It’s all so complicated." She stood up then and poured more coffee in her cup. She offered some to the women sitting at the table and they both shook their heads. Octavia spoke again.

"Well, you and Bill are not married to each other. As far as I know, there is no legal or official commitment, so you are both free to do as you please. Am I wrong?" She glanced over at Sookie and Sookie shook her head.
"So that leaves two options in my opinion. Either make it official or find yourself another boyfriend. One who is not a vampire." This time she looked at Amelia who nodded in agreement.
Sookie just stared at the both of them.
