Okay, so I must confess...while trolling around Target there were the books for $5.99. Not one to ever pass up a deal/sale, I downshifted and bought them and have already completed book 2. Now I know I have made up my mind about not reading the books because they are a different entitiy from the show (and I like the show a whole lot better) but I just couldn't help myself. I will say Dead in Dallas was somewhat entertaining and the sex scenes between Bill & Sookie were great (the one after the Bon Temps Football game, YOWZA!!) Anywho, I think I will continue on reading being able to seperate the two (show vs books) and appreciate them individually. I almost immediately see a huge difference between Book Bill vs Show Bill and to whom wich ever one prefers is a matter of preference - I myself LOVE Show Bill! I can also see how some things from the books will not work onscreen. I am go to try not going to get all worked up about what happens in the books (as I read on) and keep the faith that Alan Ball will keep a good thing going and work his magic with the show and keep reminding myself that the books are the books and the show is the show, two different things. :)

In reading through the spoiler threads, it seems as though many people have their own favorite book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries that they'd like to discuss so I thought I'd start a thread.
What is your favorite book in the series, why and what portions of that book do you want to see in the series? For me, it's book 3 Club Dead -- I couldn't get to the next page quickly enough but I wanted to savor each new twist, turn and development. I thought this was a great book for Sookie because she rose to the occassion as needed and she didn't let her pride get in the way of doing the right thing. I got a huge kick out of Russell and the sexual tension between Alcide, Eric and Sookie was palpable. Personally, I'd love to see this entire book used in the series, because I think everything in it is great story telling.

Does it seem to you that Alan Ball is getting us ready for a split between Bill and Sookie? Last night it was "so we can never have breakfast together" and the week before she complained about not being able to sleep together. Not to mention his friends keep trying to kill her!
I have read the books and know where they go. I'm wondering if it will happen differently so they can stay together later on. |
