LLI Timeline
Okay, some people have asked for a timeline for LLI. I’ve gone back thru Books 7 (ATD) & 8 (FDTW) to try to piece together when things happen because CH does not really give us specific dates for almost anything. It’s very frustrating not to have a clear benchmark day. She doesn’t even give us the date for the double wedding at the beginning of Book 8. I’ve spent hours on this and made tons of notes, and it’s enough to make me tear my hair out because sometimes the dates just don’t mesh with what day CH is saying it is.
I am making the assumption that Books 7 and 8 take place in 2005, the same year Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. We know the Summit in Rhodes happened shortly after Katrina because Area One vampires were still missing and the damage was still being assessed. Katrina hit New Orleans on Aug 29, 2005. I would estimate that the summit happened sometime in September before Hurricane Rita hit since Rita isn’t mentioned in Book 7. Rita passed by New Orleans and hit the Texas coast on Sept 23, 2005, so I am putting the summit sometime between Aug 29 and Sept 23, 2005. We know Sookie was gone for a week. My best guess is that the summit took place around the week of Sept 11 thru 17th, but that’s only speculation.
Moving on to Book 8. We know it ends on a Wednesday right before Halloween. We know this because Sookie says they bring out the Halloween decorations for Merlotte’s on a Tuesday night (Ch 20 – Sookie mentions working on Sunday, going to the bank and running errands on Monday, and then going to work on Tuesday.) The following day would be Wednesday, that is when Sookie goes to see Hunter. Thus ends book 8.
According to the 2005 calendar, the Tuesday before Halloween was October 25. Therefore, Book 8 ends on October 26. That is IF I am in the right year and IF CH actually paid attention to her days (I do when I am writing, but I’m OCD about stuff like that, and I get the distinct impression that CH isn’t nearly as detail oriented as I am.) Halloween was on a Monday night in 2005, btw. (And we know from Ch 3 in Book 8 that Fangtasia is closed on Mondays.)
So… going backwards… I count 14 days from the end of the book to the takeover of the Nevada vamps. That puts the takeover happening on Friday, October 13*. Counting forward from that date, we have:
Oct 13 – Nevada take over
Oct 14 – Sookie breaks up with Quinn, confronted by Quinn’s sister and mom
Oct 15 – Sookie finds out about Tanya, calls Eric for Amelia’s dad, Sandy comes to Merlotte’s
Oct 16 – Octavia and Amelia get Calvin to bring over Tanya to magick her, Bill comes to tell Sookie Selah has left him
Oct 17 – Sookie has off
Oct 18 – Sookie goes into work, Jason asks her to check on Crystal, Sookie and Calvin discover Crystal’s affair
Oct 19 – Ceremony is held, Sookie must break Calvin’s hand
Oct 20-21 – Sookie sulks, Octavia and Amelia keep their distance
Oct 22 – Sam calls Eric, Sigebert attacks Eric and Felipe.
Oct 23 – Dawson fixes Sookie’s car, Sookie goes into work, Terry is filling in for Sam because it is Sunday
Oct 24 – Sookie runs errands, goes to the bank, meets up with Alcide, Octavia unmagick’s Bob
Oct 25 – Sookie takes Bob to Wal-mart, goes to work, Eric and Pam come in to tell Sookie about Felipe’s protection. Sookie, Sam and Arlene take out the Halloween decorations after the bar closes.
Oct 26 – Amelia and Octavia give Sookie the note from Niall, Sookie goes to see Hunter.
* There is actually a discrepancy in the days that are counted and the weekday CH lists. According to my count there were only 13 days, which would have put the takeover on Oct 14 instead of Oct 13, BUT we know Sam calls Eric on a Sat night (Ch 20- the day after the attack is a Sunday, Sookie says so,) so that means Sigebert’s attack had to be on Oct 22nd, and not the 23rd as I would have put it. So… if three days really did pass between when Sookie broke Calvin’s hand and when Sam called Eric, then Sookie had to have smashed Calvin’s hand on Oct 19.
See what I mean about Ch not keeping track of her days and me being OCD? Do you have a headache yet? I do. Wait, it gets worse…
So as far as LLI goes:

Monday, Nov 7 – Eric comes to see Sookie and asks her to go away with him
Sunday, Nov 13 into Monday, Nov 14 (early am) – Eric and Sookie go to Isle Elena, Eric takes Sookie to the shrine in the lodge, Maria’s concert, Eric and Sookie have sex, have their talk.
Monday, Nov 14 (day and eve) into Tues, Nov 15 (early am) – Sookie’s first day on Isle Elena, Eric leaves her roses and chocolates, Sookie learns about Helen, Sookie goes to the library, Sookie meets Maria and Izzy in the game room, Sookie and Eric have more sex (lots of it), Sookie and Eric have their big fight, Eric tries to rip out the bond.
Tuesday, Nov 15 (day and eve) into Wed, Nov 16 (early am) – Snowstorm. Power outage on Isle Elena. Izzy and Maria help Sookie. Eric and Sookie make up.
Wednesday, Nov 16 (day and eve) into Thur, Nov 17 – Sookie goes to the spa. Eric and Sookie renew their bond. Eric and Sookie have more sex. Eric tells Sookie his history. Eric extends their trip by a day.
Thursday, Nov 17 (day and eve) into Fri, Nov 18 – Sookie finds out she and Eric incited an orgy. Izzy teaches Sookie how to control her gifts. Helen, Hlin and Eros give Eric and Sookie the Godtouched Gifts. Eric and Sookie return to LA around 2:30 am to an ambush. Eric takes her to Ruston nest.
Friday, Nov 18 (day) – Eric stays up all day. Sookie must go to work that night. Eric goes to work, but comes back to Bon Temps early
Sat, Nov 19 – Sookie and Eric go to work. Spend the night in Ruston.
Sunday, Nov 20 – Sookie works lunch shift. She and Eric go to Shreveport when she is off work. Sookie spends her first night at Eric’s Shreveport house
Monday, Nov 21 – Eric has his nude photoshoot (Kodak Moment)
Wednesday, Nov 23 – the official announcement of Eric and Sookie’s relationship. (Best Laid Plans)
Thursday, Nov 24 – Thanksgiving.
Of course, this means I should have mentioned Thanksgiving in Best Laid Plans, but I was a week off. I was thinking that LLI began on Halloween, but that didn’t jive with CH’s timeline, unless Sam was decorating the bar for Halloween two weeks early, which would put Book 8 ending on Oct 19 instead of the 26th. Somehow I doubt Sam would have put out his painted pumpkins that early. Pumpkins keep, but they don’t keep too well for 2 weeks if they’re inside. They’d be pumpkin mush by the 31st.
And I doubt Sookie would want to spend Thanksgiving (a holiday devoted to eating) with a vampire who doesn’t eat.
So… after all of that… I know your heads are spinning from all of this… I have decided to alter LLI’s timeline to the week before Thanksgiving. That means, Eric comes to see Sookie on Halloween, not Nov 7, and they leave for Isle Elena on Nov 6 instead of Nov 13. I have edited the master document and made the necessary corrections to the fanfic (dot) net version to reflect those changes.
So with the corrected timeline, we now have this:
Oct 26 – end of book 8
Six days pass instead of two weeks…
Monday, Oct 31 – Eric comes to see Sookie and asks her to go away with him
Sunday, Nov 6 into Monday, Nov 7 (early am) – Eric and Sookie go to Isle Elena, Eric takes Sookie to the shrine in the lodge, Maria’s concert, Eric and Sookie have sex, have their talk.
