Is anyone else out there puzzled by what Eric said (and didn’t say) after Sookie was rescued from the 2 faeries just before the big fight, and he said (I’m paraphrasing since I don’t have the book here) “you’re killing me, you’re killing me, I’ll explain later (why he wasn’t there to save her)”, then there was never any explanation? I just finished last night and I thought I had missed something, so I re-read a little and I’m still stumped. Any thoughts?

Since the DVD was released and I was able to watch it with less distractions (first viewing involved a theater full of crooning, screaming, giggling pre-teen children) I thought I'd bring up a movie criticism discussion.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS. I don't want to discuss the book here (there is a long thread for that already) but I figure I should state this for my frame of reference: Yes, I have read all 4 books. Twilight itself was my least favorite in the series. I find them juvenile and poorly written, but entertaining nonetheless. This is my version of a cheers/jeers post! I encourage replies to have the same format.... Likes: Any scene with Billy and Jacob. He was less scrawny than I remembered (from my first viewing) but still kid-brother-ish. Hopefully he's hitting the gym hard in preparation for the sequels. Any scene with the Cullen's cars. Laurent's dreadlocks. Victoria's lunacy/vengeful gaze. The soundtrack. Loves: Casting for Alice, Rosalie, Jasper, and Emmett. I thought they were perfect, and well acted. Okay, "better" acted. My favorite scene was when Alice gently pranced up to James and snapped his neck. Hates: Terrible make-up artistry. Really? Whiteface for vamps? That's original. Perhaps we could have blended the necks, ears, and hairlines a smidge? Also, EVERY character except Bella had blond highlights. When they showed a close up of Edwards black eyes, you could clearly see the edge of his cosmetic contact lenses. The direction & scene editing was awful. I started to think my dvd player was freezing up! I've seen better film editing on Youtube. Ehs: Dialogue between Edward and Bella. Felt forced. Perhaps Kevin Smith can direct the sequel(s) LOL. I really didn't care for the actress that played Bella. Her enunciation is awful, she has perhaps two facial expressions. She fell over her lines rather than acted them.

If you would like a better read than The Twilght books, the House of Night series is great. Should be a movie series. Quite good, very enjoyable.

Greetings;
I have been working for the past 4 years on a series of books about Vampires. The mythological information available on half human beings is scattered and limited and seems to be new as opposed to older more entrenched lore. Here is my question: Of all the Damphyr lore which stories make most sense to you? How do you think others of the vampire clans would view them? The vampires in my stories do not create living cells and therefore can not procreate. However I have taken great pains to create a plausible situation where mitochondrial DNA is used to clone a very powerful vampire. But I find it interesting that the lore persists that somehow vampires can have children in any capacity other than to make a "child' by turning a mortal to vampire. Do you have an opinion on why this seems to be ? I have been following this place for quite sometime now and I am really interested in the opinions generated here.

I've just finsihed reading the Twilight Saga and have read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books. I found it interesting that in the Twiligh Books the vampires could be out in the day and would glow and sparkle. Yet I had only read books that had vampires that could not be out in sunlight. Any takes on this have there been other stories of daytime vamps?

The very first Vampire story was referred to by a very prominent critic as "the ramblings of an insane, drunken Irishman."That "drunken Irishman was Bram Stoker. Bram (Abraham) Stoker was born November 8, 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. His father was a civil servant and his mother was a charity worker and writer. Stoker was a sickly child and spent a lot of time in bed. Growing up his mother told him a lot of horror stories. He took a job as a personal secretary to Sir Henry Irving, a famous actor. After moving to England he met an aspiring actress named Florence Balcombe. They were married in 1878 and had one son, Noel, born 1879. In England he also began writing a series of novels and short stories the first of which was "The Snake's Pass". Although best known for "Dracula", Stoker wrote eighteen books before he died in 1912. Stoker died at the age of 64 of exhaustion.
