sunlight/bill’s sonnet (in progress)
[doubleconscious]
by Aurora Leigh

What less could one man want but to be human?
No earthly hindrance bars such pure desire
To see and feel and think — existence proven
In harsh sun boiling blood through widening gyre —
Illumination burns that which it feeds,
Itself an end and means proves its own proof
That bakes white bodies black to darken deeds
Which darkness bade do nobly for man’s truth.
A light loves less than both; denies the other
Enlightens naught but desperate misery
Denying selfless love its only lover
Denying all but agency to see
That he whose cursed manhood creeps by moonlight
By sacrificing sun enlightens night.

trueblood/sookie's sonnet
[doublenegative]
by Aurora Leigh

Our loyal knight knows not its imitation;
A pure heart needn't labor to be true.
His coursing borders seal sweet sacred nation —
Old blood desiring not but to be new.
Born straight the heiress bears that screaming name,
Proves worthy yet in innocent disuse —
Proves worthy for she wears no wicked stain.
Her absence is her substance aged by youth.
Its faith preserves her honor until death
Can steal her aching sacrifice to Him,
As duty, love, and bloodlines mingle breath
And nothing's left to love, nor yet to win.
Yet loss's gain cannot forever fill
That emptiness of debt, the devil's bill.

to her dead lover
by Aurora Leigh

From living’s safe embrace I have been exiled;
Your death-charms nightly kill my foolish sleep.
Sharp texts unravel dull and flimsy textiles —
Upon my skin your whispers softly creep,
As by sensation reason is subdued,
And under woolen layers you undress
Forgotten instinct suddenly renewed
With fingers light and nimble in caress.
But what shall come of this imagination,
Reflected in such penetrating eyes?
Your image only feeds such sweet frustration,
Devouring death and growing self despise.
Sustained by words immortal, lust survives —
Translating this body; I am alive.

Franken-Haiku
by Aurora Leigh

November 9, 2008

Sookie hears secrets
Dark thoughts corrupt like poison
Death diverts the stream

Painful sights and sounds
Drowned by passion and desire
Return nonetheless

Blood lust drives us all
Consumes us as we consume
Eats itself like fire

Hearing trees whisper
While men scream in agony
A terrible farce

(I don't wanna know)

Big bag of crazy
Butterflies and lollipops
Wood stake through the heart

Prom night 2000
Red devil child despairing
Paper lanterns glow

Political stakes
Determine what is natural
Jessica is dead

Sam’s tail wags; he barks
Dog eyes elicit pity
Tara cries alone

limpdick/limerick
by Aurora Leigh

There once was a boy from Bon Temps
Whose ethics crawled out of a swamp.
If his lovers get killed
Once his semen is spilled,
Who cares? Life for him’s just a romp.

life sucks then you rhyme/eddie’s limerick
by Aurora Leigh

There once was a vampire named Eddie
Whose juices were sucked like spaghetti.
Loyal friends — he has none
For his blood they all come
’Til his insides rain down like confetti.
