My name is Kaitlyn J. and I am a senior at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. I am currently in a special topics ‘Media Fandom’ communication class where we are studying the fan bases of popular media such as Twilight, Sex and the City, Harry Potter and (of course) TrueBlood. I am very proud and excited to be in the TrueBlood guild! My group, which consists of me and three other women, have, and will continue to study TrueBlood and its fans throughout the semester. I can provide our class syllabus which gives an overview of the class and our final research paper if you are interested. Here is a link to my group’s TrueBlood blog. http://truebloodfandom.livejournal.com/ Each member in the TrueBlood guild has a specific research question. Mine focuses on how TrueBlood fans identify with the characters, particularly with Sookie Stackhouse. My research question is: How do fans of TrueBlood identify themselves with Sookie? This question is broad, but I am interested in how the show has helped form or create an identity in its fans, specifically through this dynamic character. I am interested in receiving your thoughts on this topic! Any information about your interest in TrueBlood helps not only me, but my other group members as well. Some of us need to feed....some of us need to be fed upon. Change blood for life force, desire, imagination, attention. In my experience, some peoples lives feel empty or incomplete, unless there is someone feeding from them, and by doing so, demonstrating interest, attention and attraction. However dark. This is one of the themes we are seeking to explore at the Museum of Horror. I think it is central to the theme of TRUE BLOOD.

it is like the book in ways in diffeent in others....it will make you lol and sit on the edge of ur seat. i have read the books and sookie seems more seductive in them......i know they have to cram alott into a show that is only an hour long but i swear these books could make a movie to die for ...several movie could come out of it.....bill and sookie are great and i will be pissed in this 3rd seasom if they follow the books , they blew the charachters up so much about their love it will be hard to see it get shatttered in anyway! even rachel wood did a great job as the queen i hope to see more of her!

If anyone paid attention towards the end of season 2, you would have noticed a seen where Tara and Lafyatee are in a closed Merlottes bar at night... Tara is getting a Tarot Reading from Lafyette, and all the cards he turns over were true in Taras life. The last card however, just before Lafyatte turns it over, Eggs bursts in, begging to speak to Tara alone, as Lafayete looks at the card, he shows the face of a freaked out man and says he has some things to do to clean up... I believe that L. Reynolds has the power to either
A. See the future with the Tarot Cards. B. Predict a persons fortune with the Cards. I believe Eric has given him this gift as an assett to keep Tabs on Sookie at all times.. since Eric tricked sookie into drinking his blood... This is a clever, clever way to get closer to Sookie without deceiving her as much as he is used to... Anyone else think Lafyette is turning into a "Fortune Teller" or even a "witch"? Because from the books, he dies in the first book!!!! So this has to make some sense on any level!! Blood for life!!!!!! MIlez |

Does anyone have any idea when Season 2 will come out on DVD ? and/or the CD?? I cant watch season 2 again because they no longer have any of True Blood shows on HBO. I dont understand why they took it off. Is there anything we can do to have them put it back on, I was able to get my husband to watch season 1 when I bought it the other day and promised him he would be able to watch season 2 right after.

Rather than drag up year-old threads, I thought I'd start a new one for this question.
Recently my Mom and Grandfather died, and a little longer ago my brother died. I want to do a ritual for them this Samhain at my Grandfather's house, and I thought someone here might be able to point me to a website where I can print out an appropriate ritual for the recently departed dead? In Episode 222 "New World in My View" Sookie has a fantasy where she comforts Eric after Godric is gone. Eric is hunched over the bed the same way he is in the books when Eric is in Sookie's bedroom and remembers everything about their time together. In the same scene, she also touches his fangs as she does before she kisses him in the books and turns her head to give Eric her neck as she does when Andre forces a blood enchange at the Pyramid hotel in the books. Did they mix other book references into this one scene?

Here's a treat for all interested in this ancient stuff and cult of Dionysus:
The Dionysian Mysteries were a ritual which used intoxicants and other trance inducing techniques, such as dance and music, to remove inhibitions and artificial societal constraints, liberating the individual to return to a more natural and primal state. It also afforded a degree of liberation for the marginals of Greek society: women, slaves and foreigners. [taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionysian_Mysteries ] [Actually, you can read more at this site, there's plenty more :) ] Sounds familiarr, doesn't it? More familiarity can be observed in the picture found in book Bill was reading in his flashback (that one with the names of Dionysus) and and the picture @ above-mentioned wiki site. The theme of a woman/meanad and a panther :)

How well/poorly do you think they get the north Louisiana accent on the show?
It sounds okay to me, but then again I'm from south Louisiana in Cajun-Country, which might as well be another country despite being only a couple hours drive away.

People she didn't know very well: .... Loud woman: Well, I thought young people like Coke so I just gave it to him! It's not like there's a manual that says you need to feed them milk! People she didn't know very well: .... Loud woman: So then my baby started teething and the doctor said I needed to start him on solid foods. So then I decided to start him out on a whole big old adult sized bowl of cereal. Can you believe it? People she didn't know very well: Yes. Loud woman: I would sit there totally surprised at how my baby couldn't eat all of that.
